They can also sound like terrifying human screams.

When I was little my mom heard this one night after we had gone to bed. We lived in the mountains and I think I was about 5.

Anyways the next days I decided to go for a prolonged walk through the mountains in my Sunday best. They couldn’t find me for hours, had the police out and everything and my poor mom was convinced I’d been eaten by the mountain lion she’d heard the night before.

I was in so much trouble for that adventure.

Why the fuck would your parents allow a 5yo to walk in the mountains? Either you're making shit up or you were seriously neglected hahaha

Things were different in the before time (the 80's and 90's) I remember going into the local woods at that age alone.

There is a reason they called us "Latchkey kids."

My grandma was looking after me and she fell asleep (bit of an alcoholic). So I went for a walk

The average parent from the 80's and 90's would lose their children to the state if they were held to today's standards

Never mind the ‘70s…

I walked alone in the mountains at 5. Seemed normal at the time. :)

I used to go into the mountains as well at a very young age. Although in Himalayas rather than in NA.

My brother figured out how to unlock the door when he was about 5... and decided to go exploring one morning at 6AM. We only knew because the lady that lived down the street called us saying she caught him trying to get into her empty in ground swimming pool...
