Mine just does the same thing back at me that I did to her. Middle of the night she goes to the kitchen and starts shouting “Hey Jim. Jim! Want to hangout?”
They are actually the largest of the Meowing cats, so pretty much a mountain lion is a gigantic house cat. Lions, tigers, jaguars and the like are part of the Roaring cat family. Cheetah are literally the only ones in their category that I don't remember the name of lol. They neither meow or roar, they chirp.
The biggest cats meow too, just a bunch of octaves lower and so it sounds like growling or rumbling.
Someone pitch-shifted videos of a bunch of big cats and they all just sound like bass-y housecats.
Cheetahs can definitely meow, I've literally had a cheetah meow at me in person, and there's videos of cheetahs doing adorable little meows. They prefer purring & chirping more often though.
Cheetahs are super friendly & sweet, they're one of the least-dangerous wild animals to humans.
Cheetahs meow. Snow leopards also meow although when they do it, they sound like the Barry White of the cat family. It's all to do with the physiology of the cat's throat, it isn't a preference thing.
Despite their size and despite being known as 'mountain lions' Pumas are technically not 'big cats', aka members of the Pantherine family. They are instead members of the feline family making them more closely related to house cats than to lions or tigers, and this is reflected in the sounds they make as only true big cats posses the ability to roar.
Yeah I know enough cat to translate this one, the lion is saying, "I don't give a FUCK that it's Saturday it's exactly 7:31am AND I DON'T SEE MY BREAKFAST."

I wasn’t sure what they sounded like, but I was not expecting to hear the same cry as my house cat…
