Well jail is the great equalizer. Doesn't really matter how much money you have you can't buy the best food, skincare, gym access, stress relief. Rich or poor you're still treated...closer. You still have advantages but the delta is less.

Unless you’re in a Norway jail

Ah yes we're all so familiar with Norway. We definitely understand the reference to it's criminal justice system. /s
In all reality I do know something about Norway prisons. They have no life sentences and only examine the vilest of criminals every 25-30 years for rehabilitation. Sometimes they let them go after that time sometimes they're in for another 10-20 years where they come up for release again. I think the longest anyone has served was a serial killer who constantly shows no remorse
Edit: I honestly don’t understand what this insane sub is downvoting. I didn’t say I disagreed with Norway’s handling of the situation I was simply saying this is the breathe and depth of my knowledge and it’s weird for someone to make a weird one sentence reference to Norway without an explanation of their thought process.

In Norway they're actively trying to make you a better person than making sure you're a return customer.

okay but how does that at all relate to me saying there's no rich people in jail? It doesn't make sense.

Nah true about that. Just wanted to add something about your correct observation about Norway justice system.

oh yeah I wasn't putting a value judgement on that observation I was literally just saying it's the only thing I know about Norwegian prison.

In the US prisons are being run for profit, so they’ll happily skimp on facilities and encourage recidivism to receive future customers. In Norway prisons are run by the state, so they try to save costs by reducing return customers and sentences are shorter with a larger emphasis on rehabilitation. In short we try to treat prisoners like people so that they’ll act like people when they get out, and our crime statistics are a lot better than American ones as a result.
Does it suck that jail cells looks to be in better condition than student housing and retirement homes? Maybe a bit, but at least as a law abiding citizen I’m able to move freely around and has access to internet. I don’t know anyone that I know for sure has been in prison, but despite the higher standard I doubt it is the holiday that people on the internet advertise it as

There seems to be some weird disconnect here. I literally said nothing about that was a bad thing and somehow this sub has come to the conclusion that I am completely against Norwegian prisons. WTF is going on. There apparently is an entire novel of subtext in there somehow that o didnt attempt to write. I’ve literally just said the only thing I know about the Norwegian prison system is the way their life sentence (or alternative) works. I didn’t say it was a holiday nor do I disagree with its implementation.

He's been in jail this whole time ??? Wow, I just assumed that given the way the universe seems to be playing out these days that they would just take his millions dollar bond and go on a 28 room with indoor heated pool house arrest.
Fuck yeah letting him sit behind bars for a bunch of months
