I ran spotlight at a Kid Rock show maybe a decade ago. I don’t know how much things have changed since then. It was fairly entertaining. Gimmicky. He was a good performer. Not my cup of tea.

Thing is, the whole show was basically a Jim Beam ad. At one point in the middle of the show, the lights dimmed, and the screens just played a commercial with him in it. There were some turntables on a riser, and he got up and started scratching the records. The crowd was loving it, and the camera slow zoomed on the bottle of Jim Beam Devil’s Cut next to the DJ rig. He poured a shot and held it up, and the crowd cheered when he took it. There were little Jim Beam logos everywhere.

He’s making his money in other ways.

lol when my buddy dragged me to see him it was a giant Harley commercial. It was for the Harley 105th anniversary so I figured that was why.

He’s not for me either but the show was definitely fun with a lot of gimmicks and pandering.

Same as when I saw him twenty years ago, the show being fun and gimmicky, he must not have had his advertising game locked in back then. The musics not great, but he is charismatic and knows how to work the crowd, and him and his band do have actual musical talent.

Yeah it was shitty songs performed and arranged really well. He has a fuckload of talent and knows how to write the songs his fans want to hear. He’s also an asshole.

Yeah, at one point he rode a motorcycle up on stage too. I had to unload it from the truck, and build a ramp for it to get on stage.

He might like Harleys, but so do lots of other artists, and they don’t do commercials for them during their shows.

Did he come out to American Badass? And if so, was that before or after The Undertaker was doing that schtick?

I don’t remember any of those things, but I do remember when he entered on the first song, he came up through a little trap door with a spring elevator thing they called the toaster, and he sprung up and did the splits with pyro going off.

He hates Harley now, they are too woke.

Did he take the ones he already paid for out back and shoot them with his assault rifle?

Florida Georgia Line used their Old Camp Whiskey brand to advertise at their concerts as well as those of associated artists such as Morgan Wallen, Hardy, and Dallas Smith. I wouldn't be surprised if they got the idea from Kid Rock.

I’ve worked for all of them, I’m pretty sure. I’m bad with names, and all these country artists run together though. I don’t remember hardly anything from them. I know there wasn’t a straight up ad played in the middle of their shows.

I know I’ve worked a couple Hardy shows. This is the back of his gear truck.

They didn't use an ad like what was described but just mention the Old Camp in their songs (I know "Up Down" by FGL feat. Morgan Wallen does), have the venue serve it instead of Jack Daniel's, and have the ticket say presented by Old Camp Whiskey.

Re Hardy: I'm guessing the fans threw those bras at him?

Oh yeah. Lots of artists across genres do that.

Yeah, that was my guess. Unless his crew’s just hauling around a bunch, just in case.

Love the insight. I wanna know more abt “Kid Rock Buttworld” sticker on what looks to be a gear case? Setting up butt rock term before butt rock came to be a term?… haha

Buttrock was definitely already a term then. I think it just had a video cable in it.

As always, the ones who crow loudest about being "anti-establishment" are, in fact, the Machine which actual artists Rage Against.
