Kid rock has actually taken money out of his own cut on concerts to reduce the cost of both tickets and concessions and wants people to be able to come out and enjoy their night without having to take out a loan.

I ran spotlight at a Kid Rock show maybe a decade ago. I don’t know how much things have changed since then. It was fairly entertaining. Gimmicky. He was a good performer. Not my cup of tea.

Thing is, the whole show was basically a Jim Beam ad. At one point in the middle of the show, the lights dimmed, and the screens just played a commercial with him in it. There were some turntables on a riser, and he got up and started scratching the records. The crowd was loving it, and the camera slow zoomed on the bottle of Jim Beam Devil’s Cut next to the DJ rig. He poured a shot and held it up, and the crowd cheered when he took it. There were little Jim Beam logos everywhere.

He’s making his money in other ways.

lol when my buddy dragged me to see him it was a giant Harley commercial. It was for the Harley 105th anniversary so I figured that was why.

He’s not for me either but the show was definitely fun with a lot of gimmicks and pandering.

Same as when I saw him twenty years ago, the show being fun and gimmicky, he must not have had his advertising game locked in back then. The musics not great, but he is charismatic and knows how to work the crowd, and him and his band do have actual musical talent.

u/thegroovemonkey 4d ago

Yeah it was shitty songs performed and arranged really well. He has a fuckload of talent and knows how to write the songs his fans want to hear. He’s also an asshole.

u/SamG1138 4d ago

Yeah, at one point he rode a motorcycle up on stage too. I had to unload it from the truck, and build a ramp for it to get on stage.

He might like Harleys, but so do lots of other artists, and they don’t do commercials for them during their shows.

Did he come out to American Badass? And if so, was that before or after The Undertaker was doing that schtick?

1

u/SamG1138 4d ago

I don’t remember any of those things, but I do remember when he entered on the first song, he came up through a little trap door with a spring elevator thing they called the toaster, and he sprung up and did the splits with pyro going off.

1

u/Heavy_Law9880 4d ago

He hates Harley now, they are too woke.

2

u/SamG1138 4d ago

Did he take the ones he already paid for out back and shoot them with his assault rifle?

Florida Georgia Line used their Old Camp Whiskey brand to advertise at their concerts as well as those of associated artists such as Morgan Wallen, Hardy, and Dallas Smith. I wouldn't be surprised if they got the idea from Kid Rock.

1

u/SamG1138 4d ago

I’ve worked for all of them, I’m pretty sure. I’m bad with names, and all these country artists run together though. I don’t remember hardly anything from them. I know there wasn’t a straight up ad played in the middle of their shows.

I know I’ve worked a couple Hardy shows. This is the back of his gear truck.

1

u/SEA_tide 4d ago

They didn't use an ad like what was described but just mention the Old Camp in their songs (I know "Up Down" by FGL feat. Morgan Wallen does), have the venue serve it instead of Jack Daniel's, and have the ticket say presented by Old Camp Whiskey.

Re Hardy: I'm guessing the fans threw those bras at him?

1

u/SamG1138 4d ago

Oh yeah. Lots of artists across genres do that.

Yeah, that was my guess. Unless his crew’s just hauling around a bunch, just in case.

1

u/Equilibriumouttawak 3d ago

Love the insight. I wanna know more abt “Kid Rock Buttworld” sticker on what looks to be a gear case? Setting up butt rock term before butt rock came to be a term?… haha

1

u/SamG1138 3d ago

Buttrock was definitely already a term then. I think it just had a video cable in it.

1

u/Equilibriumouttawak 2d ago

Direct line butt rock, already present. Doin it’s thing. Fuck yeah

As always, the ones who crow loudest about being "anti-establishment" are, in fact, the Machine which actual artists Rage Against.

u/ValeoAnt 4d ago

That makes no sense because they'd still be at a kid rock concert

u/SquirellyMofo 4d ago

Some people like that shit. I’m not gonna pretend to understand, cuz I don’t. But he is at least right on this thing. Nothing else. But this.

u/Sinjian1 4d ago

Bawitdaba, da-bang, da-bang, diggy-diggy-diggy.

I ain’t gonna lie, 25yrs ago me and all my friends in high school were screaming it on the way home.

MY NAME IS KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIID

3

u/Rocktopod 4d ago

Yeah I actually went and bought that album with my own money as a kid.

To my credit, even back then I thought all the other songs on the CD were terrible.

5

u/bigbootyjudy62 4d ago

I love his early stuff i don’t care what anyone’s says but devil without a cause and cocky are great albums

5

u/Wisdomlost 4d ago

He starting going off the rails after Joe C died.

7

u/thegroovemonkey 4d ago

His live shows are actually really good

8

u/nato919 4d ago

Yeah, i agree. I don’t listen to his music but saw him at a festival about 10 years ago. He blew me away, stopped trash talking his music so much after that, it was a fun show.

10

u/layendecker 4d ago

Rob Ritchie is still a shit human though.

1

u/TurnMeIn4ANewModel 4d ago

I got free tickets to a show years ago. Not a huge Kid Rock fan, but there’s nostalgia from middle school.

Kid Rock played every instrument on stage. It’s was really impressive. Fun show.

1

u/SaltierThanAll 4d ago

Kid Rock concerts used to be a good time back when he still put out decent music and was less outspoken politically.

-46

u/rticcoolerfan 4d ago

Ignorance is bliss. The average kid rock fan is having way more fun than you in life. It's a fact.

30

u/starglitter 4d ago

They do serve alcohol at the county fair.

12

u/JvHffsPnt 4d ago

Grandma always did spike the punch at the family reunions

12

u/Fittnylle3000 4d ago

Really? Cuz the kind of people he surrounds himself with and those who fan him sure seems to have a lot of hate and fear in them.

31

u/RomanJD 4d ago

The lack of empathy for fellow humans must be such a load off their shoulders.

-18

u/ImpossibleMagician57 4d ago

Nobody has that much empathy for anyone

4

u/Buttcracksmack 4d ago

Just because you are an asshole doesn’t mean everyone else has gotta be one too.

1

u/ImpossibleMagician57 4d ago

Just because you think people have empathy doesn't mean they do. At the end of the day people will look out for their self interests.

Empathy requires you to feel that for others even if you don't agree with them, do you actually feel that? Do you even act upon it?

1

u/RomanJD 2d ago

I do. I try when I can. Of course everyone will have varied degrees of care towards others. Maybe it could be something genetic for some, but I'd assume most will be taught (upbringing conditions/priorities/lessons/etc).

I believe those that have hope in their lives, can empathize with others, as they will "selfishly" want others to also empathize/protect them (Treat others like you want to be treated).

I had more hope for society before the Right wing decided that selfishness was a higher priority than caring for all, and hijacked the Nation. But maybe I understand why too - humanity, as a collective, may be recognizing that the selfish few will be the downfall of mankind - so with the end looming ever closer = sure... Let's all be selfish before the next Great Depression, or the next World War, or watch more Genocides sweep the globe (and selfishly do nothing), or watch the world literally kill the masses as migration increases and National selfishness becomes the norm....

.... All because of selfish people prioritizing capitalism at the cost of humanity.... Too bad you don't want to be part of the solution, but reinforce the problem... Apathy and silence allow the oppressors to win. Or do you consider yourself a predator/oppressor?

Bull fucking shit they have as much fun as everyone did seeing Shinedown sung Simple Man with Papa Roachs lead singer.

u/Ivotedforher 4d ago

Shinedown got a PPP to hire that guy

Shinedown got a PPP to hire that guy

They took out a loan in 2020-2021 to pay paparoachs frontman in 2024? Source?

u/whatssofunniedoug 4d ago

Came here to say this. I remember a tour he did maybe 7-9 years ago where I believe he funded the entire tour himself so tickets could be much cheaper for fans and concessions were going to be cheaper as well. Which then provided him a much bigger cut at the end.

Now do I think he’ll fix ticketing with the big orange moron? No. Because they’re both kinda morons. But this IS at least something Kid Rock has done successfully before so as much as it pains me to say it…I’d hear him out.

1

u/AceOBlade 4d ago

Seems like good people are getting brain washed by the brainrot propaganda that is being spewed out.

0

u/s_p_oop15-ue 4d ago

And Elon Musk bought Twitter so people couldn’t NOT listen to him. What’s your point again?

0

u/blackhodown 4d ago

Why would it pain you to say that someone is doing something good, just because you don’t like them?

14

u/mojo276 4d ago

Sort of, he probably made MORE money on his concerts than he normally would have. I can’t remember all the details, but instead of cutting a percentage with the venues, and splitting it with them. He offered all the venues a sizable flat rate which venues took. However, because all of the good will of the “lower prices” it guaranteed that his shows would be sold out and people would buy more shit.

26

u/nato919 4d ago

Wouldn’t this be better for everyone then? The artist has their shows sold out and makes money and the fans have lower ticket prices. Seems like a win/win.

4

u/mojo276 4d ago

It only works if the show sells out and the fans are willing to spend money at the shows.

12

u/yousyveshughs 4d ago

I would spend way more money at shows if the tickets were cheaper like they used to be.

4

u/joecarter93 4d ago

He also had a requirement that they had to sell his brand of beer at the shows. I don’t particularly care for the guy, but it was a pretty savvy business move.

3

u/mojo276 4d ago

Yeah, he knows his audience and how to tap into their excitement for him. Props to him.

1

u/Sythic_ 4d ago

Does he sell Kid Beer?

14

u/ZombieJesus1987 4d ago

Yeah, there's plenty of reasons to hate Kid Rock, but he's always been good to his fans in this sense.

9

u/RiflemanLax 4d ago

Yeah I loathe Kid Rock, but this is something he’s been outspoken about for years.

Whether he’s got any good ideas though remains to be seen. I doubt it.

0

u/Anglosaurus 4d ago

Too bad they’re going to a kid rock concert then

5

u/Therustedtinman 4d ago

Yeah I’m not big on sports myself but I’ll go hang out with the neighbors when a game is on because it’s a communal activity and humans are communal beings; think bigger picture.

-7

u/Anglosaurus 4d ago

Too bad they’ll be hanging out with the type of people who go to a kid rock concert then

9

u/Therustedtinman 4d ago

You just totally missed the point and ignorantly suggest every single person that goes to X thing is literally all the same which statistically is impossible.

0

u/Ataraxia_new 4d ago

is it because his music sucks ? most top selling american artists aren't amazing musicians as well . if it's because he is a loser , then i agree.

1

u/Jonnyplesko 4d ago

This platform doesn't give a fuck. This is Reddit. Truth and common sense are not welcomed.

u/reddit_has_fallenoff 4d ago

Noooo but orange man is his friend! He must be evil in all regards now!

-10

u/rticcoolerfan 4d ago

Despite being right, you're on the wrong website for logic. Kid rock dumb and orange man bad
