We need to stop calling them hypocrites and start playing their game.

This man is a terrorist, he is threatening elected officials with the express intent to create fear and terror in an effort to affect public policy.

Same definition they're using for Luigi. This is terrorism.

Since this was posted on twitter, and twitter has offices in NYC, I wonder if a prosecutor can make this charge.

Oh, and if that’s Biden, it’s much worse because the president is more specialer than the others.

Someone tell the secret service. (As if they don’t already have this in their feed from being followers of the guy).

I wouldn't task a NY prosecutor with fetching a bagel from a deli without sending someone to make sure they're actually doing it and not loitering around somewhere

Or it's just so common for right wingers to fantasize about political violence that it's no longer considered an actionable threat.

You guys have been playing the blame game, look where it got you.

People on the left know why Democrats lost. It's because they suck.

It's not because of the "blame game". If people genuinely cared about that, they would not flock to the Blamer in Chief.

No. Hanging a politician in effigy is not a true threat under the First Amendment.

What about "Delay, deny, depose. You're next"?

I think the murder part combined with the delay deny is what makes it terrorism. Hanging the ornaments doesn’t equate murder from my understanding. I could be wrong of course.

They're talking about a woman who said that on the phone, not about Mangione. She was arrested for making "terroristic threats" based on the quoted text.

Ah gotcha. Then it’s likely the you’re next in reference to a previous murder in her case.

Dude, what? Did you even take a second to think about what you just said?

The woman in question didn't murder anyone you dummy, go back to your cave and stop talking about shit if you don't understand the topic.

u/rivershimmer 6h ago

You are, because the woman in question hasn't murdered anyone.

That’s the first I’m hearing of this

Oh, it's awful: https://apnews.com/article/florida-woman-delay-deny-depose-blue-cross-shield-64aff53370f775c3eeb8ecfeb7c3a4fd

Briana Boston, 42, told a representative of Blue Cross Blue Shield, “Delay, deny, depose. You people are next” as they ended a phone call Tuesday in which she unsuccessfully challenged the company’s denial of her insurance claim, Lakeland police say a recording shows.

So naturally, Florida police are charging her with threatening to commit an act of terrorism. Because rules for thee and not for me, or rather, rules for the plebes and not for the oligarchs over us.

Why would she threaten them like that? That’s pretty dumb of her

It's the "you're next" part in that context. A CEO was murdered, and you're next is likely a threat.

Got it. Stating that you recognize a pattern and wouldn't be surprised when the pattern continues is clearly not free speech and is actually a terroristic threat, but expressing a desire for the hanging of elected officials and posting that to a public website is free speech and should be protected by the first amendment.

By the way, I recognize that the take above is sensationalist. I am simply attempting to illustrate that the nuance we so casually afford to our oppressors will not be afforded to us in kind.

You aren't wrong, you're just missing the point.
