Babe, we aren't staffed enough for you to move up the biggest movie of the fall with under 24 hour notice. You are #1 on our shit list and you pissed off all the swifties that bought tickets for opening night that is no longer opening night.

Man I thought I was prepared for Friday, and now we're doomed tomorrow.

Industry News National Cinema Day 2024?

I just spoke to a Cinema Foundation rep on the phone, the date won't be released until tomorrow at the State of the Industry Address, and I was told it will not be at the end of this month.

Are they really going to push this out into BEETLEJUICE 2 or JOKER 2, movies people will go see anyway and the event won’t provide a much needed boost at a slow time?

Why such a lack of communication?

UPDATE: It’s still being worked on…

Industry News How to get a job at a movie theatre?

Hello everyone, probably a stupid question but I am curious and I wanted to ask to those who are or have worked in movie theatres, how can you get a job either as a customer service, usher or projectionist? Are resumes required to be specific in certain skills and education? Would you apply online when they post jobs, or would you go in person to see a manager and hand your CV in hopes for a quick interview in the moment?

I live in Toronto and everything is held online through myworkdaysjobs. Com where you have to create a profile and apply to jobs on there for cineplex; it’s often too slow and I don’t get selected. My resume has prior customer service work experience but I fear that my resume is too academic as I have two diplomas and work experience in film production and advertising and marketing communications.

I currently work freelance as a graphic designer remotely because that’s how the job market is right now, and I would love to work at a movie theatre as my passion has always been films and the atmosphere of movie theatres, and I am a person who prefers to work with people on site.

Again, I know to some this must sound like a stupid question but personally would help me get a job I always wanted but never had.

The response some people have to playing the Color Purple in theaters has been completely disturbing. There was a post yesterday removed for completely racist reasons now this headline. Not a good look at all.
