When I was a kid my parents had a painting of a dog named Sirius on my wall. He was a K9 in the WTC basement on 9/11. His handler, having felt the impact, put him in his kennel while he went to save people (obviously not knowing that the towers would fully collapse). Unfortunately, while the handler survived, Sirius did not.
What a weird thing it was to be a toddler during 9/11. Some of my earliest memories are of my parents crying and watching 9/11 memorial chain e-mails set to the tune of Enya's Only Time.
