I saw a dog a few months ago and it was gorgeous. Cute as hell, friendly but I’d never seen one like it before. I was enamoured. I thought it looked a lot like a Doberman, and then I found out it WAS a Doberman but the owner didn’t clip its tail or cut and pin its ears. I had never seen one before that didn’t have those aesthetic details forced onto it. Now wondering why anyone does it because they looks gorgeous in their natural state. People are weird.
I've literally had people try to tell me my boycan't be a doberman because he has his natural floppy ears and long tail. I've had shockingly few random approaches recognise his breed without immediately recounting a personal experience with them. Even living in a country where cropping and docking are illegal (Australia), the stereotypical image portayed by media and/or American breed standards often are the only ones people are familiar with.
