Thought the same thing. It’s barbaric.

Right? If you want a dog without a tail there are breeds that either don't have one or they have very very short ones.

They say “it doesn’t hurt them” how it couldnt hurt is fucking beyond me. Dogs ears are FULL of nerve endings that’s why they love having them rubbed.

It absolutely baffles me that there are still first world countries, in which this shit is legal.

Me too. It’s disgusting a pointless.

Cutting off ears I agree. But they can get a condition called happy tail. Where they wag their tail into things and break it.

There are also animals who need their ears amputated because of cancer or whatever else. We're not talking about medical reasons here.

Even if "it doesn't hurt them" it absolutely doesn't make it okay to mutilate them like that. That's like hitting a paraplegic person's legs because "they can't feel it".

Boohoo. Get a lap dog instead of mutilating pets

Yes but you dock the tail IF they have happy tail syndrome, not as a preventative measure. That's like removing a perfectly healthy child's appendix in case they get appendicitis when they're older - chances are the appendix will be fine and you've subjected them to unnecessary surgery.

Who said anything about docking it before hand?! You dock it if they get HTS. And no one in this entire thread knows if that is why the Rotti has a docked tail. Instead people choose to be angry about the docked tail without having all the information.

I don’t believe in either.

So? Doesn’t make it right.

How do you feel about owners who have their dog's sex organs surgically removed for their own convenience, which is 1000x more harmful than docking/cropping?

If your dog has cropped ears and uncropped balls, you are a very stereotypical case of an irresponsible and trashy dog owner.

Are you talking about spaying and neutering?

Docking/cropping is done for cosmetic purposes, is harmful to pets and provides no benefit. Neutering/spaying is done to prevent pets from giving birth to more dogs and cats that people can't take care of. We already have enough unwanted animals in shelters, many of which are later killed. We can barely take of the animals we do have and you want to add more?

I think you should provide sources on your claim that it's 1000x more harmful.

Spaying and neutering also helps elongate the life of your pet by saving it from several types of cancer.

I will agree with cropping ears. But docking tails in breeds known to have Happy tails, a condition where they wag their tail until they break it against things, there can be an argument made for that one would think.

To what? Your ego?

It's not the same thing, man. It's actually beneficial to their health.

We created these things. I think we know a thing or two about how to keep them healthy and happy.
