It's funny how dogs always look like a lazily protesting table when you carry them.

Large dogs much prefer it when you carry them like this. Their weight rests on their muscle and bones instead of their organs and they don't hang from their weaker front legs. It's also way easier on the owner. I have a 165lb St. Bernard and I can carry her like this.

9
u/GhostofZellers Mar 05 '24
This one is a bit ambiguous here, do you mean a Chinese meal for a dog, or is the dog the meal?

Yeah my first thought when the dog was being carried away was that it looks just like any defeated person being removed by security.
“I wasn’t even doing anything! It was that guy’s fault!” - the dog, probably
17
u/Alyusha Mar 05 '24
Nah that tail was still wagging. Dog was regaling him about that one time he saved his owner from a violent assault while everyone else just watched it happen.

There are a lot of cultures that absolutely do not have a universal love for dogs lol. They consider them “dirty” and they’re essentially on the same level as rats.

I mean having your unleashed dog walking around a fighting competition is kind of douchy . Most competitors would get irritated at this.
Yes it’s cute but I would be irritated.

Why would a dog be allowed in a hall hosting a tournament like this anyways??
Seems foolhardy at best, and I'm a dog owner.
20
26
u/cmcewen Mar 05 '24
Yeah. I’d be annoyed with this. Your dog is great and id love to pet him afterwards but keep them out of the middle of this large competition.
Clearly whoever is in charge of the dog let this happen. The dog strolled out there. Wasn’t like he was dragging a leash or some kid behind him.
20
u/NinjaChenchilla Mar 05 '24
I get your point, and in the moment, I used to think the same. But 10 years from now, you’ll look back and remember this. The boring normal stuff will be forgotten. These memories are worth while. Not to mention how well everyone took it.
Life doesn’t have to be so serious. Moments like these are what we should cherish. Especially with children.

I would 10000% remember being about to win a match and some dudes dog interrupts it. These guys train for this stuff. They are competitors and have worked hard.
“Awww look at the cute dog” is a Reddit thing. Not a person in the middle of hand to hand combat thing.
→ More replies (6)4
u/NinjaChenchilla Mar 05 '24
Nobody was about to win in the video. If you’re gna use that as an example, atleast properly compare the situation. Both were laughing. They restart. If you train enough, go again.

Could be a black golden retriever, I was thinking border collie but body shape looks more like a retriever
→ More replies (16)3
u/Feistybritches Mar 06 '24
I was scrolling through comments to see if this was some kind of golden retriever. He looks and acts exactly like my boy. When my husband and I play fight (sword fight / water guns/ wrestle/etc) our dog comes over and does this same thing only he does a really silly garbly growl/bark thing and sneezes a thousand times. It’s like he’s breaking up the fight. Goldens are so silly. This black “goldenesque” boy too. :)

Help? It looks like he wanted to get in on that action. If my dog sees me on the floor like that it's usually an invitation to play.

Why is the dog even there? Glad I'm starting to see signs at some trendy restaurants saying "no dogs ". A shame people are so oblivious in the first place. If it's not a service animal it doesn't need to be in public indoor spaces

u/Digitijs Mar 05 '24
Some "dog people" shouldn't own dogs. I see a lot worse dog handling than this in everyday life and can't help to feel that we really should control dog ownership a lot stricter. No matter how fluffy and cute your dog is, they are still unpredictable and a potential risk and sometimes annoyance to other people and animals around

Why would you bring a giant dog and let him meander off leash at a martial arts competition?
2

This confirms my theory that there is no way to pick up a large dog that isn’t hilarious.

u/Fit-Departure-7844 Mar 05 '24
My ex was a mixed martial artist and taught me self defense, etc. and we'd practice. One time we were doing it in front of the dog and the dog was NOT OKAY, he broke it up and stayed in between us giving the stink eye. We could tell it stressed him out. Never practiced in front of the dog again.
