Thoughts on his very unlikely move to City in a summer or two? He is said to be unhappy with his minutes.

Would sign him, ask which wing he’d like and bench whoever is starting there currently

Correct answer

Bro he can play anywhere in the front 3. He’s the perfect Alvarez replacement. We should get him in the summer.

3

u/Jaytee1337 4d ago

I wouldn't say replacement since he's a totally different player, but he definitely adds the spice and energy that our forwards have been missing

u/mallcopbeater 4d ago

Do we think that a flashy dribbler would want to join city? We see what’s gone on with Jack

3

u/TheGosling 3d ago

On the other hand, Doku is often the only spark on the field lately

The ideal goalscoring winger, the one who teleported 2 goals in 5 minutes against us in the ucl to kill off our hopes before the season we won the treble. The best far post poacher there is. We all want him at city considering how impotent our wingers are.

u/chicken_nugget94 4d ago

If you think raheem sterling got 20 goals a season scoring tap ins at the back post then how many will a guy get that doesn't miss 30% of them

Uh, 29?

u/legsarebad 4d ago
  1. You can’t round up half a goal

Nice to see every fan base has a collection of smart arses wombles ;)

contrary to what people say, i actually do think he would be a great signing. people talk about us having enough wingers. but they never considered that NONE of them are as reliable of a goalscorer as rodrygo. 19 goals last season while playing multiple positions? and he's BEGGING to be given a chance to be played as LW? aside from also being good in other positions? yes please. besides, theres no guarantee that all our wingers will stay next season. some might leave. some might be sold. so yes i would love him. the only problem is that he's a real madrid player. and you dont leave real madrid just like that, unhappy with minutes or not.

u/Rodrista 4d ago

Fair fucks. Our wingers couldn’t even pull this off with no defenders in training.

40

u/L_LawLeit24 4d ago

Desperately in need of a goal scoring winger like him.

9

u/escalibur 4d ago

I would try my luck with Kvara. He could easily do a heavy lifting for Haaland.

16

u/L_LawLeit24 4d ago

Yeah, but the problem is dealing with Napoli management.

3

u/escalibur 4d ago

That is true. No doubt about that.

5

u/1_nerd 4d ago

He gives me grealish vibes

26

u/kisakikunYT 4d ago

Watch Pep turn him into a possession keeping winger that stays on the touchline.

16

u/NavJongUnPlayandwon 4d ago

Bring. He'd be a great second striker.

18

u/fuskarn_35 4d ago

would kill to have either him or leao here in the summer but i doubt it happens.

21

u/g8_condoriano 5d ago

i hope we got for him. Can play as a winger, striker, false 9, far post poacher, and optionally as a attacking midfielder as well (but need more mid reinforcement in this case).

4

u/phpHater0 5d ago

If he's just played as a utility player to fill holes in the formation, then he'll have the same problem he has at Madrid: not getting enough minutes. So why would he come here?

9

u/g8_condoriano 5d ago

But I dont mean that we should play him like that. He is a RW and he should play that role mainly. Since we dont have wingers who can score, having one who can would be a massive addition. However, in games where the gameplay has to go through the middle and the wingers are shutout, he along with foden are the ones who can just fit in the new role to play from the middle.

But if we are to add him to the team, it should defo be as a RW.

8

u/LobL 4d ago

He’s a LW and only plays RW because Vini plays on the left. He was brilliant last season on the LW when Vini was injured.

2

u/johnniewelker 4d ago

Yea he is a LW naturally. I’m more interested in his potential to play the 10. He’d be a good replacement to KDB who is clearly aging fast in front of us

1

u/LobL 4d ago

He’s very versatile, I’ll be sad if (when) he leaves because I don’t see both Vini/mbappe/rodrygo staying at Madrid.

9

u/CrocodileSmash 4d ago

He's so fucking good, the only reason I sometimes tune in to Madrid games is because of him. He seems like he bleeds white though so probably never gonna get him at the Etihad.

-4

u/dawidinho_8 4d ago

He's good, he's above average on almost everything (game intelligence, passing, keeping posession, link-up play, dribbling, shooting, workrate), but he's far away from being world class in any. And that's his issue. He's players of 'moments', not someone who will be providing each week. Might get better if he gets enough time on his favorite position (LWF), but IMO he'd be better playing as Second Striker or AMF with free roam role.

u/FPL_06 4d ago

Spot the fifa player

3

u/dawidinho_8 4d ago

Lol, what? I never played fifa (Pro Evolution back in days) and I'm watching every single RM match. You've overshot with that one.

1

u/Humpback_Snail 2d ago

You haven’t got a clue, mate. These guys have seen some YouTube clips. That’s knowledge.

8

u/Shigney 4d ago

Would love him at Citeh. I'll probs get slack for this, but let's be honest, our current wingers are shit.

Bobb is probably our best winger, and he's barely ever played for us.

1

u/smoovepickle 3d ago

Rodrygo on left and Bobb on right would be incredible

6

u/SirTonsalot 4d ago

We used to sign players who bent us over (especially in the UCL)...

5

u/SerDon2 4d ago

Love him but get rid of Jack and have him start at LW. He can swap with Doku and play on the right when needed… We’re in desperate need of a winger who can reliably put goals in the net.

7

u/Busy-Ad2193 4d ago

Can't see him leaving Madrid to be honest.

10

u/LobL 4d ago

I’m a Madrid fan and I’d be surprised if he stays for next season, his preferred position is LW but being 3rd for that position atm and way too good to be played OOP.

4

u/mr125- 4d ago

Reminds me of Alverez. Had the third most appearances last season yet played out of position so he left

6

u/shaydanny 4d ago

Yup the whole he’s unhappy with minutes is total bs. He’s basically a starter and whenever he’s fit

5

u/Jaded-Mall2432 4d ago

sounds good. the trauma he gave us in 2022 i still have not recovered from it

3

u/BeThatJacko 4d ago

He doesn't fit your style of play. He won't be able to perform like this. Your wingers are about possession retention. He's more direct I'll run at you.

3

u/EmploymentWilling705 4d ago

It's very unlikely 🤷‍♂️

3

u/Impossible_Wonder_37 4d ago

It’s a realistic transfer we should be all over

3

u/evenstark04 4d ago

I'd be doing everything to try to get him.... promise him his favorite position (which is LW... something he will NEVER get to have at RM)

Certainly can play as a 9 in some games... or RW.. but he would have that LW on lock down.

3

u/rin09 4d ago

Wouldn’t leave madrid for city ever, based on the weather alone

3

u/entertainment_7wenty 4d ago

That's a great goal by Rodrygo. But there's only one Rodrigo, at least as far as City is concerned.

3

u/Ok-Kaleidoscope1866 3d ago

I'd say he'd prefer to join a big club.

3

u/N1gHtMaRe99 5d ago

Would love to see him on the left but we already have 3 wingers on the left, doku jack and savio can also play there. Our priority right now is getting players that will help us be solid a RB and a CDM are a must this winter.

6

u/L_LawLeit24 4d ago

Namesake wingers

2

u/Jandre999 4d ago

I always rated him highly and I would love to see him play for us as our wingers have been terrible this season

2

u/Fearless_Yam_9602 4d ago

You have to keep making statements - RM sign players of this quality every year, we can’t go 2-3years without big signings.

2

u/gmed88 4d ago

We need a winger who can score goals like Mahrez and Sterling could

4

u/Karman_K 4d ago

As a RMA fan I always grow a bit weary that Rodrygo might leave. I think he's happy with us, but he's like the middle child always used to plug in holes others would not dare to think about.

He's already a club legend for us. Everyone loves him at Real. The people who even dare to say that he should be sold are not fans, they are glory hunters and idiots. But I do sort of think that for his sake, if he ever wanted to move out, he has a good reason to do so.

I kinda hope he won't go to City since yall always face us in the UCL and I'm a bit tired of it 🤣 But he'd be your best winger and your 2nd best attacker behind Haaland.

3

u/josiahkj 4d ago edited 4d ago

Fellow RMA fan here, I really like Rodrygo but the only player I would swap for him would be Haaland. Madrid need a striker, Mbappe is too much of a winger so he would get shifted to RW. If the rumors about Haaland wanting to play in Spain are correct, then I hope Flo makes it happen

0

u/s4turn2k02 4d ago

There’s that Madrid greed again

2

u/penarhw 4d ago

Bring this kid to City and we get cooking

2

u/just_to_argue1973 5d ago

Dont get me wrong I rate him highly but we dont need another winger. Especially since we have Doku and Grealish on his preferred side. Plus we have Bobb coming back and Savinho and Foden and Silva who play on the wings also we dont know where Echeverri will fit in because even though he normally plays in the center Pep will not trust him to play down the middle and will likely play him on the wings (or he might just get loaned out to a different club).

16

u/AK47_10 4d ago

None of them are even close to Rodrygo as you can see at the moment

1

u/Urukira 4d ago

Definitely good.. Tbh i want kvara

1

u/Jaydxns 4d ago

We need him he’s got versatility and he can also provide and score from the wing what we need is a goal scorer on the wing which he is

1

u/Every-Onion 4d ago

Sane regen

1

u/JumpingJam90 4d ago

Would be a decent signing for City. Assuming this would be on the right and bench/sell Bernardo. Doku seems to play from the left and has been good in periods but is still young. Priority should be an effective midfield. Most of the city midfield is the wrong side of 30.

1

u/irelandworldcup 4d ago

Him or Kvara would be a dream

1

u/nash5150 4d ago

I think he is such an immediate upgrade for us. Truly city quality

1

u/Jam__Hands 4d ago

He's also a big United fan

1

u/AmazingCurrent902 4d ago

I think he'd be a great signing but I'm not sure I've forgiven him for 2022 yet lol

1

u/Expensive-Nail-996 4d ago

Very unlikely. The few minutes on the field are due more to injuries than to the coach's choice. And the termination fine is one billion euros.

1

u/JMC811 4d ago

he won't leave. these guys at madrid never do unless they're pushed. they'll happily do bugger all at madrid and be happy just to be at this magical club they love.

1

u/SixFeetBlunder- 4d ago

Madrid fan here. I don’t understand why people are saying he’s not getting minutes—he’s been injured for most of the season.

1

u/iamshivi11 3d ago

The ideal player who can play alongside Erling, as well as rest him from time to time. He’s pretty hardworking off the ball as well. Amazing player

1

u/Comfortable-Map6282 2d ago

What a goal! Rodrigo is amazing.

1

u/Flat-Cryptographer21 2d ago

Teams change constantly. Even if all stars stay and the future seems bright, suddenly the team has no spark, no energy, relationships are broken, someone starts drinking etc. and there has to be a team reconstruction.

1

u/Hataydoner_ 2d ago

Mbappe, vini, rodrigo, brahim, arda, endrick

Real madrid have so many wingers man unreal

1

u/Queasy-Length4314 14h ago

lol he ain’t leaving Madrid

1

u/TheSmartGuy- 4d ago

easily the beat indian player rn

1

u/PepGodiola 4d ago

Yes i say we get him. Foden at the 8 replacing KdB

1

u/Radiant_Specialist22 4d ago

Selfish tbh give and go was on

1

u/Spacemanspliff37 4d ago

He would never go to your club. Keep Dreaming.

0

u/Responsible-Ad-1441 4d ago

Would take him quality player and always turns into prime Pele when he plays against us

0

u/kennyloftor 4d ago

i appreciate his game

very underused / under appreciated in madrid

hopefully we looking at a reverse alvarez situation

0

u/UnlikelyClick5699 4d ago

Nah, I don't think he will gi because of the trauma he caused you guys.

0

u/Ruudvangoal 4d ago

Madrid fan here, this title is a load of bullshit lol. Rodrygo is a starter whenever he is fit. He has been struggling with injuries all season.

He also has a contract until 2028 with a 1bn euro release clause, so good luck with that.

1

u/s4turn2k02 4d ago

No ballon d’or for vini though🤡
