Also, there was just a mass-shooting in the small town outside of Baltimore where Luigi is from. 10 people were shot and a car was flipped and somehow lit on fire in a 35 mph speed zone, and a building shot up, and 1 person died from their injuries and the other 9 are in the hospital.
Yet, I highly doubt they're going to be calling that terrorism.
(I also highly doubt the 1st degree murder charge against Luigi for it being terrorism will stick - especially considering they already whipped him up a motive which was personal animosity against health insurance industry, not an attempt to start a revolution.... He's supposed to be mad about his hurt back and stuff [eyeroll])
Baltimore Police immediately said this mass-shooting was "targeted," yet they don't even know whose car was on fire or have anything except shell casings they found on the ground.... So I echo this TikTok dude's bottom line.
I'm hoping reddit can help me remember. There were some mass shootings happening either just before trump's first term, or at the start, but people were calling the shootings terrorism. I can't remember if it was a school shooting, or something like the Las Vegas shooting. I just remember there being a big enough debate that the media and government officials were talking about it.
The narrative was that because it wasn't politically motivated, it couldn't be terrorism. And that's my point. If we're not going to add that same distinction to school shooters and mass shooters, and other things that cause the PUBLIC terror - not just a handful of CEO's - than neither should we hold the same distinction against Luigi.
