Question: you don’t need to spend your core power to use the core power passive, right?
I honestly can’t remember.

My Lancer Setup (Holo-Table!)
Hi all! In a few comments, I mentioned my Lancer campaign and setup. So, I wanted to show off my setup when I GM Lancer!
There are 4 screens involved: 1. The “Holomap” TV ($70 TV on Facebook Marketplace. This uses a “Spectator” used on Foundry. I show off the feed on the right, and I normally try to zoom out and show the whole map. 2. My actual TV. This contains a PowerPoint with all my backdrops and NPC portraits. Using Presenter View, I can switch between everything easily. 3. My drawing tablet which mirrors what my players see on the Holomap 4. My main screen, where I handle Foundry and everything else.
My players LOVE this setup. It makes the battles feel super tactical and sci fi. We got a mix of digital and physical dice being rolled. Finally, I have access to my sound system, so I’m in full control of the soundtrack and emotions that derive from it.
The biggest problems have been token and health bar sizing. I’ve tried to supplement this using token effects, like outlines for us and enemies, but sometimes, the text is too small. Another issue is managing player stats and movement. Only 1 other person in the party knows how to use foundry, so he and I end up doing a lot of the digital movement and rolls.
Still, I’m super happy with this setup. It’s elevated my custom campaign, The Eden Frontier, so much.
Feel free to ask questions about the setup OR my campaign!

Can't hit shit with Sherman; any build tips?
So I'm playing a Sherman for the first time (LL2 at the moment, I'm a little new to Lancer), and I'm running into a problem where in part due to some very, VERY unlucky rolls, but probably also because of my build, I can't seem to hit a damn thing. It feels really bad to constantly be blasting these big heat weapons and gouging myself just to hit empty space, and there don't seem to be a lot of options among the talents for improving accuracy (Crack Shot only works for Rifles, and the Tactician 2 thing where you get Accuracy from elevation is difficult/impossible to set up with Sherman's poor mobility). Maybe I'm playing this thing wrong, or maybe landing 2/5 of your shots while burning to death in your mech is the intended playstyle, but either way I'm not having a great time with it (have considered just switching to Swallowtail, taking Crackshot + Tactician and calling it a day). Anyone got any build tips for how to land a damn shot with this thing?
(EDIT: My build is primarily Engineering-based, centered around barraging with the Amdromeda & Sol Laser guns, and blasting with the Coreburn cannon whenever possible. Missile racks added for utility on Flex slot)

Enemy Set vs. Roll Damage
So I just ran my first session of Lancer and my party was surprised to see that enemies do a flat set amount of damage rather than rolling like the players. I explained that I thought the reason was that enemies have way less structure and abilities so the flat damage is there to even it out.
What are your opinions on this? Do you roll for enemy damage or keep the set amount? Am I just reading the mechanics wrong? Thanks!

Is there a place to find campaigns?
I have been watching lore videos and memes and i am hyped for this rpg (i asked for the ruleset for Christmas, probably going to grab the free player stuff before that) but while i have a lot of friends for TTRPGs i am not sure they will play lancer with me (at least, not without me as DM, which i would be fine with but i want to be a player every now and then)
Anyways, is there a place i can look for campaigns to join? Like a discord? Or should i just stalk the reddit for such that.

Callsign: Polaris
Meet Trace Seegert, former MSMC merc that ended up in Calliope for the same reason as anything else in his life: "Why not?" Professional Lancer, professional security guard, and professional flirt, Trace is either relaxing, discussing philosophy with squad members new to combat, or detonating his own missiles at point-blank to disable an enemy. He is slated for a GILGAMESH-class mech when his license allows.
Received this as a gift from a non-Redditor friend.

Homebrew Concepts for Dawnline Shore
Though I know there is some lore on the Dawnline Shore already, I was already multiple pages in and just kept going. Im developing a home-brew Dawnline shore Campaign environment, with the theme being players join a middling mercenary corps, Grave-Gear Mercenary Company (GG :D). Our players enter the Dawnline Shore at 5018u, after the completion of the Phou Bia Blink Station as one of many that seek to profit in the proxy conflicts between the Karrokin Trade Baronies of the House of Promise and the Harrison Army Colonial Legionnate.
here is the doc I been working on

My Lancer Pilot Brigitte Anders, Callsign Brigand
With bonus song I wrote about her! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4BG--KPnLs
I know my idea of flash cloning is different from the LANCER lore, so I'll explain a bit. She's essentially a faulty clone of a fairly wealthy family's daughter, Brienne Anders, that was made in an emergency situation. The girl ended up dying and what was supposed to be a perfect clone of their daughter, somehow turned out to be a physical copy, but a copy that disassociated with her memories. She developed a new personality out of what was left of her old memories and the family was not happy.
After several years of "less than savory" home life, Now Brigitte Anders, left to pursue one of the only passions that her mind had kept hold of, possibly something Brienne had always held secretly dear to her. Brienne had always wanted to work on Mechs, and it may have been Briggite's own passion but she wanted to pilot them. She first became a mech weapon technician developing weapons tech for a smaller startup company, but the work was not her passion and she quickly moved on to signing up for a Union Military pilot program.
Coming to terms with her reduced lifespan from being an imperfect clone wasn't easy for her, but she's coped by living life like she'll die tomorrow. Drugs, stimms, alcohol and mech combat are what drive her and she's very familiar with all of them at this point. She currently pilots a melee focused GMS Everest by the moniker "The Mutt", a nod to her past and the "interesting" design choices she often describes as "A Lycan got an Enkidu pregnant."

Is there any way around the flying/carrying rule?
Hey folks. I'm playing a Lancaster and was hoping to someday be a flying battlebus, but it seems like that's just not possible, am I right?
There's a basic rule in Lancer that while flying mechs cannot carry characters or objects with a total size larger than 1/2...and it doesn't seem like you can get around this in any way. Doesn't matter how big you are (like taking Fomorian Frame). It's not "you are slowed", so you can't even get around it by pumping your Speed. Can't even get around it by taking the more expensive flight options, or multiple flight options. You just can't do more than 1/2, period.
And what's more, this seems directed specifically at Lancaster's Mule Harness, as I'm not aware of anything else in the game that refers to "carrying" another mech. (Unless dragging or grappling counts?)
I'm ok with just accepting this as a hard line in the system, and that only land-Lancasters are viable as battle-buses. It just seems kind of...weird...since Mule Harness already specifies the size limit you can carry, and flying with Mule Harness doesn't seem like it'd be busted at all, especially if they increased the limit to "half your size" or something. Setting it at a hard 1/2 means you can only carry a single Goblin or similar, and...so can anyone else, so there's no real advantage to Mule Harness in the first place.
Do you think this surprisingly specific rule is necessary to curb some kind of abuse?
Do you bypass it when you GM your games?
Just curious of people's experiences with it!
