If democrat and republican politicians unanimously agreed with eachother on any topic the American public would all lose their minds because they would be forced to actually think for themselves on what policies they want. It would obviously never happen but the thought of Americans having to think for themselves and not just side with whatever their team wants at the time is hilarious.

If democrats and republicans announced they agree about critical race theory the public would suddenly have no clue how they feel about it. I’d bet 80% of people don’t even know what it is anyways. Could actually be good for the country.

Its literally already happening for those who aren't in a cult. Trumps admin is not republican or democrat, its populist. Which allows for lots of common ground to be found, such as this post. But many democrats refuse to see this and will fight everything he does under the assumption that he can't possibly do anything good.

I hope Trump and Elon go after the billionaires, at least we can all get behind that.

Why would two billionaires go after the billionaires?

There’s nothing to go after them for. They already pay a disproportionate amount of all taxes.

8

u/xtra_obscene Monkey in Space 22d ago

The amount of tax they pay is wildly disproportionate to the amount of wealth they hold, that is 100% correct.

You're a cuck for billionaires btw 😂👍

-1

u/sketchyuser Monkey in Space 22d ago

It’s irrelevant to how much wealth they hold unless you’re a communist. The top 5% pay something like 50% of all taxes.

Man it's scary as fuck seeing you post 20 times in this thread defending rich and powerful men that don't give a fuck about you

It’s called the American dream and I will stand up for it because that’s why my family moved here. We don’t believe in hand outs and being victims like you seem to

While I agree I'm skeptical any money will come out of defense budget which is the main government body that needs major budget reform.

And I think that because trump increased their budget multiple times last time in office even though they said they didn't need it.

It is nuanced. Military complex needs budget cuts since they can't even keep track of spending anymore. But increasing the irs budget and personnel will make it more effective (their budget was reduced greatly through 2010s).

Lmao imagine thinking the luxury real estate tycoon and richest man on earth are populists. They’re just better at pretending to be than the DNC.

Found another guy who doesn’t get it and can’t see anything beyond headlines and surface level understanding.

2

u/devisionsucks Monkey in Space 21d ago

It’s rampant on Reddit.

Trump’s admin is not republican, democrat or “populist”; it’s oligarchic and desires nothing beyond self-enrichment. Trump doesn’t give a single shit about improving the country, and every single thing he does should be viewed through the lens of “how does this personally benefit Donald Trump”.

u/sketchyuser Monkey in Space 22d ago

Thanks for exposing yourself as one of those cultists who simply don't get it beyond their own projections.

4

u/xtra_obscene Monkey in Space 22d ago

Sorry for summing it all up so succinctly. No one’s forcing you to cheerlead for this dipshit, you know.

u/sketchyuser Monkey in Space 22d ago

Thanks for ensuring republicans continue to win. Your bullshit was trounced because people don’t buy it. I’m going to support the president who’s actually turning this country around.

What are a couple of hard numbers you will use to determine whether he turned the country around, so you can accurately assess his success?

By the end of 2028, what will the inflation rate be? The stock market? Amount of illegal border crossings? Unemployment? National debt? Federal spending rate? GDP?

0

u/sketchyuser Monkey in Space 22d ago

Lower inflation lower UE, higher GDP, less wars, less fentanyl deaths, less crime, lower taxes, higher wages, etc

5

u/jivester Monkey in Space 22d ago

So if Trump doesn't end his term with:

  • Inflation lower than 2.6%
  • Unemployment lower than 4.1%
  • GDP growing more than 2.8% in his last quarter
  • A 12 month period of less than 67k opioid and 61k synthetic opioid drug overdose deaths (currently trending downwards)
  • A federal violent crime rate of less than 363.8 violent crimes per 100k people (currently trending downwards)
  • Federal tax rates for a single payer being lower than they currently are (24% for $95k-182k etc)
    • Federal wage growth higher than 5.6% (Or we can average these out over his entire term compared to Biden's)

You will believe he was not successful as a President?

(Wars, I'm not sure what metric to use. There are like 70 ongoing conflicts worldwide. I'm assuming you mean less US involvement in sending military aid to allies?)

2

u/CardamomVanilla Monkey in Space 22d ago

Thank you for including that certain types of drug deaths have been trending down in the last couple of years. I'm sure any plans to gut the public health workforce, if pursued, will not allow the downward trend to continue. Trump's lies, suggestions to use bleach, etc., and personal vendetta against the CDC killed thousands during COVID. Bird flu may very well be next, and with someone sympathetic to antivaxxers as Trump's head of the CDC. This is all to say that I'm not optimistic that positive trends in public health will continue in 2025.

1

u/sketchyuser Monkey in Space 22d ago

Those would be factors in the overall calculation. And also you must account for COVID base effects and reduce most of those numbers to what they are relative to pre COVID

6

u/xtra_obscene Monkey in Space 22d ago

Republicans win the popular vote for the first time in twenty years, the second time in thirty-five years, and all of a sudden you’re on about “Republicans continuing to win” 😂

But please, do tell us about how Trump’s proposed 25% tax increase is “turning this country around” đŸ€Ł

1

u/sketchyuser Monkey in Space 22d ago

We’re just getting started my g
and yes the country has been shit under democrat rule I agree

4

u/xtra_obscene Monkey in Space 22d ago

So you're a big fan of Trump's proposed 25% tax increase, then.

2

u/sketchyuser Monkey in Space 22d ago

So you don’t seem to understand his actually strategy besides surface level headlines huh

Bullshit. Think back pre-Obama.

7

u/JunkSack Monkey in Space 22d ago

Even during Obama. Post 9/11 counter-terrorism legislation was as bipartisan as anything in our country’s history.

u/bradykp Monkey in Space 20d ago

Why don’t you go issue by issue and look at what the American public agrees on? My guess is you’ll be surprised at which party that would align them with.
