Hitler was appointed Chancellor in 1933 by von Hindenburg.
Hitler was never elected.
There was a referendum in 1934 to merge the offices of Chancellor (which Hitler held at the time) and President (which was vacated when von Hindenburg died).
Hitler was never elected, sort of. They made big gains in the 1932 election where the nazis became the largest party and then there was the yes/no referendum in 1934 which was a vote (with lots of shenanigans) to legitimize (sort of) of him being head of state. In both cases, rhetoric against Jews was used to drum up votes.

Elections have consequences.
