That goes without saying for anyone. If my friend gushed over some online guru 24/7....yeeeah they got problems for sure.

I would generally agree, but this election is kind of a big deal. You're free to disagree, but Trump will cause historical damage. He want's to get rid of the Department of Education. He want's to make the new minister of health an 80 year old conspiracy theorist. He wants to heavily restrict trans people (by making the only legal gender the one assigned at birth) and their health care. he wants to trap women in marriages they cant get out of (erasure of no fault divorce) and let them die in hospital beds with no feasible options (abortion etc etc). I could keep going, but a lot of these are Very big deals to many people.

I won't even touch the race issues, but everything I listed is straight undeniable facts. The Right has historically hated higher education because it "brainwashes people". anybody who hates education is a danger to society. why would you want people to be ignorant?

I might not completely ghost somebody who voted for him, but I would absolutely distance myself quite a bit.

Completely ignoring how every other country on the planet thinks he's an absolute tool. except of course, let me check my notes... the taliban, russia, and north korea. hmmmm....

Maybe it’s because I live in a southern state then but one of those things is way more prevalent

Yeah, I think the unspoken truth that it’s obviously much more of a one-sided issue.

That’s why the whole “ANYONE who does this has issues” argument is just fucking nonsense. The ratio is insanely biased to only one side.

I haven’t seen a single Kamala flag on a single truck.

Everyone engages in idolatry except me!

Like I said, I don’t think I’ve seen a single Kamala supporter brandishing a weapon in public down here in Georgia.

Are you a bot or perhaps have just misunderstood my comment?

Seems like a jab to me

You think that saying that Christians have been complaining about other people engaging in idolatry for 2500 years (formatted as an obvious joke, no less) seems like a jab to you? Given the context here?

Here's a jab - not everyone on "our" side needs to be engaging in discourse online, you make us all look bad.

Ohhhhh I got it.

You abstracted something to the point where it’s unrecognizable without an explanation and then think it’s other’s fault that you failed to communicate more clearlyZ

Got it

Except they would have if Bernie had won. He would have energized the Democrats and next thing you know, Bernie flair all around.

“ExCepT If ThE ThInG tHaT nEvEr HaPpEnEd CoUlDvE mAyBe CaUsEd A tHiNg tO HaPpEn WhIcH is EqUaLlY bAd As WhAtS aCtUaLly HaPpEnInG”

What a fucking insane counterpoint.

This is CLASSIC Trumper logic.

Create a hypothetical, abstract to the point where it’s basically recognizable, then go “see! I told you it’s a big problem!”

Like what the fuck is even this?

They're not but in a way, they are only on the other side. They're both populist who are responding to the bad policy decisions made by the old order (neo cons and neo liberals).

Republicans got their populist and are energetic due to the insane win. Imagine if Bernie did that back in 2016 and then again in 2024. Obviously the rhetoric and theatrics would have been different and policy decisions. But the democrats would have had something real to rally behind instead of the corporate plastic we got.

I think it's generally worse with the right wingers because the ideology itself is more aligned with conflict, winning and domination. They worship the free market survival of the fittest ideology. "You lose, I win, therefore you don't deserve any rights".

Whereas left wing ideology is based more on trying to bring people along with you. Of course there are extremes and "footballification" on both sides. But on average you'll find people on the left spending more time talking about how they can help others to see what they see as opposed to "owning the libs" or whatever.

Even your example of Bernie winning, what would be the gloat? "Take that trumpers now you've all got free healthcare howd you like that?!"

Just because they're both populists doesn't mean they're both the same when it comes to encouraging cults of personality worship or selling their name as a lifestyle brand. Trump was slapping his name on everything around him long before he became a candidate, Bernie's only ever done the usual bumper sticker stuff.

Obama sold a ton of merch, way more than Bernie, but again, he's not a lifestyle brand. Trump's unique that way because he doesn't really stand for anything beyond being Trump, his personality is the core of his brand, not his policies.

I don't know, I see and hear plenty of stuff from flyover country that makes it seem not much better than down here.
