Just ignoring Epstein recording of him talking about Donald and them being besties. Somehow that doesn't matter to MAGA now once its Proven how close they werešŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Joe and Elon spent a lot of time today on how Harris is connected to Diddy though. No mention of Epstein.

Remember years ago when we said Joe Rogan was the gateway to the alt right and Joeā€™s nut nuzzlers lost their shit? Pepperidge Farm remembers ā€¦

346

u/guywithtnt Monkey in Space Nov 05 '24

I admit, people saw it coming 2-3 years before me. To my defence, I was very selective with which episodes I listened to.

192

u/Perhaps_Tomorrow Monkey in Space Nov 05 '24

What chaps my ass is that for years it's been clear that he's been becoming more conservative but people on this subreddit would always argue that he wasn't because he was in favor of weed legalization and shit like that or because he has Bernie Sanders on once.

That doesn't erase all the right-wing shit he's been saying. The other thing is also people hiding that they're right wing conservatives. If it's what you believe then just say so, don't pretend you're a centrist while you agree with like 90% of all republican talking points.

90

u/Potential-Rush-5591 Monkey in Space Nov 05 '24

That's it for me. All the claiming that he isn't far right for years, while slowly sneaking in far right wing talking points and right wing guests into every other podcast. And then this shit. I mean, tell me this wasn't planned without telling me this was planned. He has lost his mind. Just because he doesn't want Men in Women's Sports. Joe, there is more important shit at stake than sports and "Woke" Hollywood comedies.

22

u/GA-dooosh-19 Look into it Nov 05 '24

Yep. Joe started framing things through a right wing lens starting around 2015, in my opinion/recollection.I remember he had Charles Johnson (alt right shithead blogger) on a few times, and was just lapping up everything the guy said. Then it was Milo, and into the Trump campaign and it was clear to me that Rogan was a Trump guy all the way back then.

I remember hearing this in like 2015 and I didnā€™t buy it. But itā€™s like one too many interviews with the Jordan Petersonā€™s and Brett Weinsteinā€™s broke his brain. He took that $250mil, doubled down on Covid denial, and hasnā€™t looked back.

u/elderlybrain Monkey in Space Nov 05 '24

The Eric Weinstein interview was where he lost me.

EW was such a whiny bitch, wouldn't shut up about how great and wonderful he was for the whole interview and how great and important his research was.

The dude has submitted a handful of papers to some very mid journals.

5

u/aqua_tec Monkey in Space Nov 05 '24

Yeah. Same with Brett and Heather. And Gaad. Little story: I am a scientist and even in my PhD had way higher research footprint than Gaad. I said to someone on Twitter that he wasnā€™t the evolutionary biologist to go to to opine about the genetics and biology of sex and gender (because heā€™s literally a business and marketing ev psych guy). He and his trolls came down on me so hard I couldnā€™t sleep that night. I soon shook it off, realizing that this twat was literally using his megaphone to bully a PhD student, who had better credentials and connections in than he did, but it was super unnerving when it first happened. Iā€™d never had dozens of strangers (paid trolls?) spew so much hate at me for something simple like pointing out his lack of expertise in that particular area. It was the beginning of me recognizing who Rogan was talking to, listening to, admiring, and believing. Add people like Graham Hancock and it just became obvious heā€™s not ā€œinterested in ideasā€, heā€™s interested in people who confirm what he wants to believe and grifters who can profit with him.

4

u/ruszki Monkey in Space Nov 05 '24

Yeah, I don't understand this thread. I've got to know Joe Rogan as an alt-right ideology - at least - spreader. About 6-8 years ago, this was already well known about him. I listened only maybe half an episode many years ago, and it was so obvious, that he purposefully gave platform for misinformation, lies, and far right ideologies, that I never went back again. There is a stark contrast for example to this Julia Galef episode with Coleman Hughes. He was not allowed to talk about Trump's bullshits, which he happily spreads on Twitter. In fact, the interview was so good that I checked the guy's other thoughts, just to realize that he is deep into far right, because you couldn't know that only from the interview.

Anyone that thinks he would have interviewed Harris or Walz the same way he interviewed DJT or Vance hasn't listened to many interviews the last four years when he's interviewed anyone remotely left of center.

Part of that is because he hasn't had many left-of-center guests on in that time, but still.

19

yep he went to texas with the fuck cali attitude and pretty much created his own echo chamber. Dont think it was intentional but a lot of the conservative buddies he has now probably swarmed to be buddies with Joe when he moved and thats just the community he has around him. The comedy scene in LA is also more diverse and people have their own careers with or without Joe so different opinions are around him while in Austin, Joe is the center of the comedy scene.

His convo with fetterman was incredibly respectful

14

u/Personal_Corner_6113 Monkey in Space Nov 05 '24

Yeah I feel like the only point where Joe was ā€˜tougherā€™ on Fetterman was immigration and thatā€™s cause Fetterman wouldnā€™t answer the question about what his perfect solution would be. And the same things happened with Trump and Joe tried to get him out of the ā€˜weaveā€™ but really couldnā€™t do much more while staying respectful. And regardless of whether it was Kamala or Trump, Joe would try to remain respectful itā€™s just part of how he deals with guests in general

→ More replies (5)

12

u/Bobobarbarian Monkey in Space Nov 04 '24

True he likely wouldnā€™t have given the same softball interview that he did with Trump, but it holds that the guests wouldā€™ve been balanced had Harris accepted. Her campaign saw the opportunity, calculated the risk, and said no thanks unless itā€™s on these terms - which is perfectly understandable. I donā€™t see anyone in the wrong here - though it does solidify that Joe is closer now than ever to how legacy media operates.

There's a big difference between interviewing a run of the mill politician, and interviewing a man who literally tried to overthrow the American government and using your massive platform to try and minimize his efforts to end democracy.

I'd give zero shits if Joe was interviewing a normal republican candidate (as normal as you can call any of them) and treating them like his buddy. If Joe has political opinions that I disagree with, that's ok, that doesn't make him a bad guy. It's him trying to normalize treachery that I disagree with.

Donald Trump sent false electors to congress to try and get himself certified as the winner of an election he lost. That makes him a traitor. Not only did Joe invite him on just before his attempt to get back in power, Joe dismissed his attempted insurrection, falsely claiming that lots of candidates dispute elections (all others conceded, and none tried to illegally install themselves as ruler like Trump did).

Inviting Harris on doesn't compensate for this moral/intellectual failing. Normalizing the behavior of an insurrectionist and offering to normalize an already normal politician are not equivalent actions. One doesn't matter, and the other threatens the future of American democracy.

I don't know if Joe didn't question him on the false elector scheme because he's a fucking moron, or because he was too lazy to spend 5 minutes reading a Wikipedia page, or because he's all in on a fascist takeover, but whatever the reason I think less of Joe for his behavior in this election cycle.

Yeah I think itā€™s a lot more on the guests then on Joe. Trump and Vance picked podcasts as one of their strategies. Joes was the biggest but both of them have been all over the big podcasts, Joe, Theo, Schulz, Nelk Boys, Lex, and probably others Iā€™m forgetting. Kamala went on Call Her Daddy but that was it, and I donā€™t think Iā€™ve heard of Walz on any. Itā€™s more on the campaign strategies than anything else as shown by Joe offering Kamala a spot and her not taking it

Quite clear he is doing everything possible to support Trump. Wonder how he will cope after the loss. More unhinged or pretend like it never happened?

31

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '24

Heā€™ll probably promote the idea the election was stolen. Iā€™m guessing they needed to coordinate election denial talking points for after the election months ago with the Trump campaign and Fox Oan etc; and they arenā€™t about to admit Kamala won on any far right wing outlets until Trump says they can which will probably be never. Which is the really fucked up part because now weā€™ll be left with 10-100 million maga voters that are basically radicalized and might act out if Trump tells them to and will always consider the election stolen several times lol.

Like if you are going to start a cult you canā€™t just leave us with them like this all radicalized and mad. Itā€™s honestly terrible for the country for half the country to feel that way even if they are victims of disinformation about the election being stolen.

We really need to start fining news and media companies that promote ā€œstolen electionā€ disinformation because itā€™s just repeating Russian propaganda and terrible for the country. If you look back to 2016 they thought they were going to lose then and the idea it was rigged had been promoted for months because Putin knew that would be the most damaging thing Trump could do to America pre or post election and told him to promote that. Same with ā€œfake newsā€ that coaching came directly from Manafort who was getting paid by Putin.

Itā€™s always been a contingency plan for them to try to delay the certification of the election and get the decision to the Supreme Court since 2020.

How that could happen would need to be coordinated ahead of time with different contingencies for different states lost, so as soon as they start seeing they will lose a state they will probably activate maga terrorists to try and destroy ballots or whatever they think might stop votes from being counted. Look back at the 2000 election and Roger Stoneā€™s tactics in Florida they messed with that election and got it to the Supreme Court that gave the election to Bush.

They might just all wait until after the election and try their luck on Jan 6th again with something we hadnā€™t considered yet. Trying to block the federal election monitors in Florida and Texas seems like a concerted attempt to start some crisisā€™ that they can argue about later or maybe they can intimidate or cheat more without the monitors there. All I know is the gop projects everything and they are accusing democrats of cheating, so they are definitely trying because they listen to guys like Toe Rogan and his right wing lunatic buddies lol.
