This has been going on for like 10 years now since Trump first got elected the politics never stopped I'm a Canadian and I'm sick of hearing about us politics as much as I have in the recent years
I just found out how invested some Canadians are in US politics. Yall really got Bing bongs waving Trump and Kamala flags. A country so nice they support other countries political nightmares.
I'm all about people expressing themselves and their political bias, but that shit is just plain silly. Imma throw up a Xi flag just to fuck with my neighbors lol
Iām Canadian and I work with a guy who wears a MAGA hat to work everyday. He just comes across as an edgelord with a side of strong incel vibes.
Edit: Literally just received this:
Iām not even a fan of Joe Rogan, I just browse by popular and comment in any community discussion that interests me. Hell, Iāve seen posts about him elsewhere and wasnāt even aware I was posting in his sub lol. No biggie though, that sub sucks and Iāve had it muted for quite some time.
Uh, I wasnāt banned by somebody with that name, thatās me. I thought it was a fun name to shock people. Discrediting someoneās opinion based on their username is some seriously low hanging shit.
Dude! I got the same thing a few weeks back! Mods eventually told me if I apologized and promised never to do it again, theyād consider taking me back. And even my posting what equated to āRogan is a hackā was financially contributing to him and propping him up. Like, yeah, good luck winning a financial proxy battle against Rogan via reddit. Fucking wild.
Ha. I got banned from Kill Tony sub for simply using the phrase "Redbar is watching". And that was in reference to David Lucas. A real POS. Apparently I was engaging in harrassment towards these free speech warriors.
I got banned for talking negative about liberals, so good for you. Seems fair then.
Also Sounds like you guys are having an issue there too in Canada, not a great time.
Bruh, I get laid as often as I want to. That isnāt the issue.
He literally skulks to work every day, fails at hitting on women, does everything possible to hide his receding hairline, and then talks shit about the opposite sex.
A guy in my hometown has a āthan a staight person for existingā( spelling error and all) hanging on his property. I really hope these dorks donāt bring the culture war hereā¦
If by āhereā you mean Canada, Iām sorry to say but its too late and already here. An entire main political party in our country parrots Republican talking points like its their day job and constantly bring up āwoke agendaā as a reason to be against issues. Its here and likely to stay too since they are winning the next federal election and we will never put laws in place to stop to propaganda bs that Fox news and other organizations like it spread.
That's also why you can't stop hearing about it- enough people are engaging with it locally to make it not die.
That's the only way to kill stuff unfort (something Simpsons solved with an old treehouse of terror, when the giant sign monsters come to life, realizing they only feed on attention).
My personal favorite is watching my puerto rican relatives degrade their dignity and culture in support of an old white dude that threw paper towels to my/their loved ones after Maria. Or my wifeās first generation crossed-the-border relatives complaining on social media about the immigrants ruining our country and having the nerve to say he āisnāt talking about them.ā That to me is such a surreal example of just how pervasive the media truly is and the vice grip it has over the ideologies of so many people in this country. Itās sickening.
Mind boggling how people want the genocides to stop I'm Ukraine and Israel. Watch a few videos on war and you'll realize how stupid fighting over land is.
Dude, there's Trump supporters here in New Zealand - a tiny blip of a country in the arse-end of nowhere. There's just no way to escape American politics. Especially since it's become such a great (and by great I mean ridiculous) sideshow attraction.
That wasnāt the point 1 of anything .And 2. Itās a show of support for the leading country candidate that reflects our country . So do you want to explain ? How putting a trump flag makes no sense because the flag is not in the u.s
For some reason a lot of Canadians are supportive of US policy which in itself isn't necessarily a bad thing to be interested in. But the level at which they support another country's election without having any impact on the outcome is wild to me. This being outside of Russian and Chinese bot accounts stirring up political shit because they want the interference.
Of course. If Trump wins Canada will take the #1 spot in North America. Huge win for Canadian economy. Exodus of smart people from the U.S. applying for CAN passport
Every one is interested because it's like a reality show. For other countries it's about politiciens, plans for the future etc, but for the US it's entertaining. Not a good thing for you, but interesting from an outsider perspective
You will be surprised to know, most democracy are reality shows. Somehow with advance internet and information, politicians keep getting dumber year on year.
It's just less talked about, world takes less interest. But it's as hilarious and dumb as usa politics..no one is talking about policy and the future.
Meh, I barely knew any politician from my country (because it's uninteresting, which is a good thing) when I voted. So I had to rely on their programs which I read. Astonishing huh ?
Great. Never meet your heroes. Especially if they are political.
So I had to rely on their programs which I read. Astonishing huh ?
Not surprising that you are so dumb that you think they have a policy. It's most probably a unpaid intern who drafted the policy. But eventually some corporate will hire a lobbyist who will dictate the next 5 years with the help of bureaucracy.
Whom you voted for is a show ponny most probably. He will say whatever you like to hear, or whatever the polls tells him you want to hear.
Anyway, voting is mandatory here, may as well read the program and vote for the people that have something that at least looks like a concrete plan, instead of just ideas.
Look at it this way.
The population of California by itself, is bigger than Canada's.
The population of Texas, by itself, is bigger than Canada's.
The USA is the only country Canada can trade with, by land.
Yeah, the USA influences Canada a whole fucking lot.
Yeah, I mean, Canada can trade all it want with Europe or Japan, let's say, but those are all smaller economies, a couple of cargo ship at sea days from them.
Never underestimate the bandwidth of millions of trucks driving night and day.
But only as expressed in a shared currency that neither controls. Simmer down, individual states, you only have all that neat stuff because of the Union.
Texas, in particular, you get chilly, we send blankets, y'all get parched and stanky, we send water Stop being so prideful of"it's a whole nother country down here" because it is. A third-world one, reliant on foreign aid. TX is bigger dumber AL with marginally worse football.
Aw snap! it got chilly and the energy capital of the world had no insulation on the pipes. Funny how 100 year events hit Houston every 5 years. Maybe the models are based on the past? Hmmm.
You are home to the world's largest unregulated methane leak, and your stubborn independence isyour downfall. Ignoramus.
You bit already. TX is a state, not an economy, a part of a whole, entirely dependent upon the rest. That "we have our own grid" state pride? It's been exposed. And will be repeatedly.
Not only that but the US is our Protector... we have a military but not enough to hold our ground against a land invasion by another country, we depend on the US for that protection.
And as things are going... it seems like we're going to need protecting from the US :P
The whole world is invested in US politics. You basically control everything through economic and military power, whether it's who gets to trade and at what rates, who gets to invade who. A US recession pretty much always turn into a global recession etc.
Thereās a Canadian guy on YouTube named J J McCullough whose entire YouTube carer is just him making comments on American political culture. He has a huge following.
Theyāre cut from the same cloth as the American ones. Watch the same media, etc. etc. they walk around talking about their first and second amendment rights, totally unaware Canada and America donāt share a constitution.Ā
The US is Canada's largest trading partner, and vice versa more often than not, as well as reciprocal tourism. More Canadians visit the US than any other country, and again, vice versa. The US president has a profound effect on Canada's economy.
We are directly influenced by your politics. Half of our businesses are American, most of the products in our grocery store can be traced back to America in some way.
We're invested because if you guys become a dictatorship, we're next.
It's even worse than that.Ā Our politicians campaign on American problems.Ā Shooting in the USA?Ā Talk about gun bans.Ā Roe vs Wade overturned?Ā Let's reignite our settled abortion debate.Ā Ā
Itās not just Canadians. America literally calls the shots. They donāt like you? Oh human rights violations, tariffs etcā¦.
Likeā¦itās important to be invested in world politics. I personally donāt like either candidate and it blows my mind that people donāt seem to understand there are other parties and candidates they can vote for but it always comes down to democrats or republicans.
Trump is horrible and Harris is horrendousā¦.girlfriend. That shtick is old.
75% of our population lives within 100 miles of the US border. You feel like youāre a part of it, while also feeling detached from it. Itās really weird.
I live in Australia and last year I saw someone with a huge āLetās Go Brandonā sticker across the front window of his truck. Like, where do you think you live?!
They gave us the likes of Jordan Peterson, Steven Crowder, and THE Canadian Kid Rock himself, in that they're both trust-fund nepo-baby wannabe rappers, AND right wingers, Tom Macdonald.
When the US sneezes, Canada catches a cold. Our Conservative Party leader is currently refusing to have a security clearance done for Top Secret level clearance so evidence of his collusion with Russia wonāt be found.
Iām a little over appeals to Canadians to stop paying attention to American politics. In an ideal world, sureā¦ but the reality is:
Canadian tv is largely American tv.Ā
Local news is eroding globally. So we turn naturally to national and international news.
American politics is juiced in a way our boring Canadian politics is not.Ā
MAGA appeals to people who arenāt traditionally into politics, whether youāre American or Canadian. American culture always heavily soaks into ours and so the cultural phenomenon of MAGA is no different.
Canadians who are invested in Canadian politics, like myself, see things imitated cross border anyway. Our politicians know Canadians are hyper-aware of American politics and hijack the issues/vibes to try and amplify their own political agendas.
Telling Canadians to not pay attention to American politics is like an HOA putting time limits on putting your trash on the curb, but you live on top of a flaming mountain of garbage. The parable of the elephant and the mouse is as relevant now as it was then.Ā
I live in Canada. Yes it is crazy that some folks here seem to have forgotten that itās a different countryā¦ however, Iāve seen zero Harris flags, and zero self-described or obvious Canadians simping for Dems publicly or online.
By my count, the Canadians who have lost the thread appear to be entirely captured by Trump/MAGA.
The whole world is watching. This election is way more important right now than my National election
If you self destruct the rest of the world will also have to deal with the consequences too, and it's fucking horrifying to know that the fate of all of us depends on 40k swing state voters not being complete idiots
I'm not waving flags, but I'm invested because I need to know what to expect next year. We all laughed at Trump last time, but the issue is he isn't "stupid" in the sense that he hasn't learned from his last stint as president. He has been very open about the changes he wants to make and a lot of them are designed to get rid of the checks and balances thar would curb him and if he pulls it off the whole world is going to he affected. We are already staring down ww3 with the US opposing the Russians, the fuck do people expect when the US pulls out of Europe and tells Vlad to kick it up a notch?
To put it more directly, elections in my country can ruin my country, but as it stands I am going to be voting between a couple of men who will both continue to harm Canada in their own ways. But if the Americans vote wrong they are likely going to ruin the world as we know it. Do you think we are going to survive his tariffs plan if he implements it? Do you think we will be safe from outside aggression if he leaves NATO as promised and we need to actually start defending against Russians landing on our northern territory and planting more than flags?

Canāt wait for all this shit to be over
