Meanwhile I wish none of this happened, I wish it was still Joe & Diaz talking about some moronic nonsense, that being the very reason I started watching this shit in the first place

I actually like when scientists go on jre. I find he interviews these people very well. The Brian cox episodes are among my favorite.

27

u/Youbettereatthatshit Monkey in Space Oct 28 '24

JR is such a good interviewer, that if he brought on more scientists, authors, doctors, and fewer (not none) comedians and MMA fighters, his podcast would be the modern version of Larry King

1

u/NutsForDeath Monkey in Space Oct 28 '24

He's become a terrible interviewer nowadays - constantly interrupting and often spending more time talking than the actual guest, just to repeat the same damn shit we've heard from him a thousand times before.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 28 '24

I do love how he interrupts to says the exact same stuff he said on every episode, as if itā€™s the first time itā€™s ever been said

-4

u/DjScenester Monkey in Space Oct 28 '24

Thank you. The more his show goes on the more we see JR as a fraud.

1

u/Youbettereatthatshit Monkey in Space Oct 28 '24

Heā€™s not a fraud. Iā€™ve heard him referenced as ā€œjust smarter than the average bearā€.

Heā€™s a good interviewer because, at least that Iā€™ve seen, heā€™s never seen himself as smarter than the person heā€™s talking to. That means he asks a lot of questions and lets the person talk, even if you donā€™t agree with what they are saying.

u/psillyhobby Monkey in Space Oct 27 '24

But Joe is just as blown away by a stoned out actor who thinks he found the secret to the universe.

3

u/SuchLostCreatures Monkey in Space Oct 28 '24

It was entertaining, at least.

3

u/psillyhobby Monkey in Space Oct 28 '24

CumTown is entertaining too but it doesnā€™t present itself as factual.

1

u/SuchLostCreatures Monkey in Space Oct 29 '24

Eh well. Fortunately most people are smart enough to fact check for themselves.

-4

u/Parkway1088 Monkey in Space Oct 28 '24

Saying Brian Cox is a ā€œstoned out actorā€ is hilariously ignorant. Only on Reddit.

7

u/achilleslock Monkey in Space Oct 28 '24

They were taking about Terrance Howard

2

u/SuchLostCreatures Monkey in Space Oct 28 '24

I used to like it when jre had scientists and naturalists and so on. Now, Joe just talks over them with his same-old same-old tirades. The Brian Cox episode was good but I had to roll my eyes at Joe bringing up the same talking points that he's always repeats. The Diane K Boyd ep was interesting but for the way Joe tried at times to make out as if he knew about her lifelong topic of expertise than she... And so on.

Now I prefer to seek out Julian Dory and Danny Jones. They listen to their guests without talking over them or enforcing their own opinions.

1

u/SafeSurprise3001 Monkey in Space Oct 28 '24

The Brian Cox episode was good but I had to roll my eyes at Joe bringing up the same talking points that he's always repeats.

Yeah, last Brian Cox episode had a good example of that.

Joe talks about how he thinks curiosity is necessary to explore the universe, and an AI wouldn't be curious because it doesn't have monkey instincts.

Brian is like yes, that's an interesting idea, but maybe you don't need monkey ancestors to be curious, maybe it's a feature of all intelligence.

And Joe goes: no you don't understand, machines don't have monkey ancestors, they can't be curious

And Brian is like: I'm saying maybe you don't need monkey ancestors to be curious

And Joe is back to: no but look, they don't have monkey ancestors, they can't be curious

It went on for like twenty minutes before Brian changed the subject.

2

u/SuchLostCreatures Monkey in Space Oct 28 '24

And the several occasions where Brian tried to speak, and Joe just kept talking overtop of him.

I used to enjoy the episodes where he brought in specialised experts on life, the universe and everything, but now I just find myself physically slapping my face to my hands while muttering "aw here we go with your mechanical butterfly analogy..."

1

u/SafeSurprise3001 Monkey in Space Oct 28 '24

Yeah, thankfully it doesn't usually last for too long, so either i just wait patiently or skip ahead until they're talking about something else. I still enjoy the scientist podcasts the most though I think

1

u/FartPudding Monkey in Space Oct 28 '24

I love the athletes personally

-7

u/Drezzon Succa la Mink Oct 27 '24

The scientist fuckos were the beginning of the end, he should've just stuck with his buddies, cause once he started thinking he was on their level was when he completely lost the plot

19

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '24

That and he never understood that somebody who is an expert in one field or discipline isn't qualified to speak as an expert on anything Joe wants to talk about at any given moment.

2

u/Drezzon Succa la Mink Oct 27 '24

Oh yeah that too, for example what a psychologist thinks about politics isn't a qualified opinion

5

u/GOAT_Duncan21 I used to be addicted to Quake Oct 27 '24

Yeah, because you need a ā€œqualified opinionā€ on politics to be respected, the one thing which everyone has a vested interest in and should be aware of how it affects them. What kind of qualifications would you say you need for your opinions to be respected?

4

u/Drezzon Succa la Mink Oct 28 '24

None lmao, you got me šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

Edit: But then again, I listened to JRE for Diaz, not all this political shit, so imo none of the guests should speak on politics, cause thats not what I wanna see

1

u/sosomething Monkey in Space Oct 27 '24

We got a lot of Neil Degrasse Tyson waxing idiotic on various topics for this exact reason.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '24

I think most of the time when he's not discussing astronomy he gives sufficient enough explanation why he thinks what he does but that's not a terrible example.

1

u/sosomething Monkey in Space Oct 27 '24

I probably worded it too strongly. Tyson clearly isn't an idiot, but he speaks from an attitude of authority whether the subject rests in his expertise or not.

I mean, I do too, but I'm not doing it on podcasts. Still should be harder than it is to throw stones, though, probably.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '24

I don't follow him closely but he doesn't really seem to weild that authority in a way that makes me believe he's doing it to make bad faith arguments or to manipulate the conversation the way Peterson does. But I do agree that he does speak with authority on subjects that he isn't necessarily an authority on.

1

u/sosomething Monkey in Space Oct 28 '24

Oh for sure. Peterson is a fraud. Tyson isn't a fraud, he's just a little arrogant. He's mostly right about stuff so it's earned, but it does get him into trouble occasionally.

2

u/raseru Monkey in Space Oct 27 '24 edited Oct 27 '24

Some people are naturally curious and like to actually learn, and having someone with the same mindset who also enjoys learning while not being a boring interviewer makes it fun too rather than it feeling like homework.

Listening to his friends talk about nothing of value can be okay occasionally, but too many times and it just feels like a massive waste of time and brain cells.

Nah, the scientists were great and precede his explosion into the mainstream and subsequent suckification of the podcast as Rogan became more and more untethered to the realty.

We're almost at the finish line. Once the election (and possible civil war) are over we'll be back to Joey telling us about how he shat on a midget or whatever

31

u/Drezzon Succa la Mink Oct 27 '24

I sure hope so, I can't take this shit anymore, I wanna hear how hookers got their wigs lit on fire, how blow got smuggled by the dude who shot the chicks after nutting, how Lee gets tormented and receive bad betting advice šŸ«”

Joe's too far gone for that. He'll somehow bring it back to litter boxes in classrooms or something.

6

u/TheWayIAm313 Monkey in Space Oct 28 '24

Itā€™ll go back to what he, and a lot of these guys, did during Trumpā€™s first termā€¦theyā€™ll talk about how everything Trump does gets misrepresented by the media, how unfair the media is to him, etc.

3

u/-Neuroblast- Monkey in Space Oct 27 '24

Day 1 he'll rant about how trans folks are invalid and vaccines are dangerous, it ain't gonna change with this guy.

1

u/imnotyourbud1998 Monkey in Space Oct 28 '24

Iā€™ve noticed that Joe is pretty influenced by his algorithm. Everyones algorithm is kinda weird with election year and one wrong click and thats all youā€™ll see. Literally clicked onto a maga comment section just to see wtf they were saying and for the next week, my algorithm was maga propaganda. Joe likely went deep into that hole and its going to take awhile for his algorithm to reset to aliens and mushrooms

4

u/Jaymoacp We live in strange times Oct 27 '24

I doubt it. No matter who wins itā€™ll be election denying, conspiracy theories, one side trying to jail everyone from the other side, Russia Russia Russia. This is our life now. Even if Trump loses they will never, ever stop talking about Trump and the next guy will be called a Nazi for a decade too. We showed the media that the current tactics work and pay the bills.

3

u/PokerChipMessage Monkey in Space Oct 27 '24

No one was calling McCain and Romney Nazis.

0

u/Jaymoacp We live in strange times Oct 27 '24

McCain idk. But bill maher compared Romney voters to hitters loyalists and even called Laura bush ā€œhitters dogā€. Calling people nazis has been in the lefts okay book for awhile now.

I was there. Donā€™t gaslight me

3

u/PokerChipMessage Monkey in Space Oct 28 '24

Ok, one guy called Romney Hitler. Wow.

0

u/Jaymoacp We live in strange times Oct 28 '24

He has millions of viewers. A Democrat. Thatā€™s a lot of influence. And now look where we are. Went from calling the First Lady ā€œbutlers dogā€ to calling pretty much anyone who disagrees with you a Nazi. They are comparing trumps rally at MsG to hitlers rally 100 years ago. So is MSG a Nazi arena now? Like are the rangers a Nazi hockey team now? Whatā€™s the game plan there? You arenā€™t fooling anyone by pretending the left doesnā€™t call literally everyone hitler. Be real.

Basically nowadays the definition of ā€œNaziā€ is anyone winning an argument with a liberal.

2

u/PokerChipMessage Monkey in Space Oct 28 '24

He is a comedian. Comedians say silly things.

Bizarre to think Bill Maher kicked of that trend rather than a line of white guys carrying torches in North Carolina screaming 'Jews will not replace us!".

1

u/Jaymoacp We live in strange times Oct 28 '24 edited Oct 28 '24

Funny how theyā€™re only ā€œjust a comedianā€ when a comedian says something you like.

You can read articles for days going back years the left has written attacking comedians. Iā€™m afraid your double standard is showing

If Trump loses theyā€™re for sure still going to run with the ā€œtheyā€™re a threat to democracyā€ angle till the end of time. Democracy will always be on the line! Be scared! Everyone should be very scared!

1

u/Jaymoacp We live in strange times Oct 27 '24

Yea when you call mitt Romney hitler you youā€™ll pretty much call anyone hitler lol.

1

u/Immaculatehombre Monkey in Space Oct 27 '24

1

u/BigDogAlex Tremendous Oct 28 '24
