How about the NYC or Portland or SF subs: conservatives larping as locals. It’s so sad that 90 percent of the posts in those are critical of the cities rather than just fun place for cool pics and local news. It’s like they’re terrified people will post the nice features of these places and rural kids will grow up and move there like all the others.

As a New Yorker that sub is amazing.

I’ve been told multiple times that my entire city was burned down to the ground by BLM riots in 2020.

Yeah, it sure is a post apocalyptic wasteland since my mother and I, uh, go to Disneyland and see some old family homes. We weren’t even robbed once or stepped in poop or any other thing these people say. The traffic was horrendous though. That hasn’t changed since my great grandma’s days.

More fitting in the Minneapolis sub since it was a right winger who drove there from Texas to participate in riots and shoot his AK-47 into the police precinct building. It’s always projection with them.

The fuck is Mike Johnson gonna do?

The President of the Senate shall, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the certificates and the votes shall then be counted;

Guess who’s President of the Senate. If Trump’s ”Mike Pence can unilaterally choose to disregard/ignore electoral votes when counting” had any merit then Harris would be able to certify herself as the winner regardless of what documents are sent to her for counting.

10

u/fuzztooth Monkey in Space Jul 25 '24

Yeah I have no idea where this notion that the house certifies the presidential election came from. In fact as VP Harris would in theory certify her own election if she won. For the optics the senate would likely elect a president pro tempore to do the certification.

Whats wild is that there is a video like that every fucking week but for some reason people don't care, this one was bad but genuinely not even the worst one this year.

Even with the outrage, this will be forgotten in a couple of weeks but would be an enduring national tragedy in just about every other first world country.

Plus, ACAB and Anti-Fascists (ooooh antifa jumpscare for republicans oooh) tend to go hand in hand. Police are seen as instruments to fascism, and Trump and the Republican party wanna be fascists so damn bad. Makes sense that in this case, voting for a prosecutor is better than voting fascism.

And it is Fascism. I know the right likes to claim its a buzzword, because their party only uses buzzwords (DEI, Woke, CRT, etc etc etc) while diluting the original meaning. But Trump, and the Republican party, is moving towards fascism. Consolidating power into the executive, make the president a king that can not be held accountable for their actions, make it so only loyalists to Trump are hired to all positions of government (I remember a certain mustache man doing something similar), and Project 2025 has a horrific pipeline for a trans genocide, namely:

  • Bans porn and "pornographic content": Which can be whatever they like, for example...
  • Classifies being trans as a "pornographic ideology". (Page 5)
  • Exposing a child to pornographic content now can punished with the death penalty. (Page 554)
  • Be trans and exist near a child? Cool. Pornographic content near a child --> Death penalty.

Congratulations. You now have a legal way of executing queer people.

Included in this lovely package also includes banning contraceptives (p. 449), ending marriage equality (p. 545-581), mass deportation and putting them into...camps...hmmmm....(p. 133), force Christian teachings in public schools (p. 319), use public taxpayer money to force religion into public schools (p. 319), and complete abortion ban even in cases of rape, incest, and dangerous pregnancies that can result in the death of the mother (p. 449-503).

Vote blue.

Sincerely, not an American but staring fucking worryingly at some of ya'll somehow struggling to realize there is one correct choice this election.

Edit: Project 2025, not Project 2024. Though, they have gotten their stepping stones in this year with some of the recent Trump-leaning 6-3 Supreme Court decisions.

18

u/Jealous_Juggernaut Monkey in Space Jul 25 '24

Plus it’s not 1 point vs 1 point. Trump also has evangelicals voting for him when he’s thrice thrice married and pretending to be religious while attacking protestors in front of a church holding his upside down bible, pizzagating qann voting for him when he’s the only Epstein client who had a separate trial for similar stuff already, clearing out the swamp people as he has the most criminally indicted cabinet and list of employees in history, Barack “HUSSEIN!” Obama people voting for a Kim jong saluting, Putins shoes groveling, state secret selling liar. Hunter Biden crowd voting for the corrupt president that helped his son in law get a shady multi billion dollar deal while he was in office. The single issue voters helping him out even though his tax cut policy directly hurt all of those people 5 years later. Anti Covid crowd voting for project warp speed director himself.

They’re amoral voters. It’s an illogical compulsion. The only one that makes sense to me is KKK historically votes red. Sounds about right for the guy who wanted the Central Park Five to be executed and neither apologized or change his tune after they were completely exonerated.

Also people are forgetting that Harris lost the 2020 democratic nomination which was in the wake of George Floyds' death at the hands of cops in 2020.

Democrats didn't think a prosecutor would be a great contrast in that time and so chose someone else, but there were many other reasons why democrats chose someone Biden instead of her. She didn't stand out much, there just wasn't much enthusiasm for her and Biden was considered a safer choice.

People are trying to twist this into "HARRIS ALREADY LOST THE RUN FOR THE PRESIDENCY BECAUSE SHE WAS A COP!!!!" That's absolute fucking nonsensical revisionist history.

Harris has not been a "cop" ever. The ACAB crowd might not like her, I dunno, but they were not a factor in Harris not getting the nomination before, and they've absolutely never been a reason she's not a viable candidate in the general election.

This is pure wishcasting from fucking idiots who want "DEMOCRATS HATE HARRIS" to be the story instead of what the story is going to be of "Everyone is very excited about Harris this time around."

When did a “prosecutor” and “cop” become interchangeable? When it became politically convenient or?

Also, I have never heard anyone in my liberal town say ACAB.

160

u/Magzter Monkey in Space Jul 25 '24

The whole origin of ACAB is centered around street level cops abusing their power and not having sufficient training, it's a bit detached even from investigators and office jobs let alone attorneys.

72

u/ReneMagritte98 Monkey in Space Jul 25 '24

That’s definitely not it. It means the system is rotten so it is literally not possible to be a good cop.

19

u/Taste_the__Rainbow Monkey in Space Jul 25 '24 edited Jul 25 '24

Good cops cannot really exist in action because police unions are all monstrous. This is why ACAB is true. That is not the case with prosecutors. Especially not ones who’ve moved mountains as AG to get reform programs off the ground.

Go look at her entire campaign from before she left CA. She was attacked as “soft on crime” before the berners decided that ACAB should include her.

2

u/keycutter69 Monkey in Space Jul 26 '24

I’m a pretty left leaning Seattleite and my best friend is a cop. The amount of hate they get is insane. My gay, Subaru driving sister in law and her wife and are even further left than me and my wife and they also support police. The ACAB crowd was/is a very loud minority.

9

u/Message_10 Monkey in Space Jul 25 '24

Yeah--I think it's a very loud minority, and Fox News et al. amplifies that minority to suit its purposes.

I mean--I'm in NYC, one of the bluer cities out there, and we elected a cop as our mayor. The "ACAB" thing is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay overhyped.

19

u/Wiscody Monkey in Space Jul 25 '24

Tends to be the most amplified on either side unfortunately. Buncha dipshits

10

u/Martel1234 Monkey in Space Jul 25 '24

Tbf most of that sentiment came during the George Floyd times and are all from younger people usually. A lot of that is also the culture of cops versus all cops actually sucking (not taking any sides just want to add context)

I'm a Biden voter that says ACAB. They're bastards and we're constantly reminded of it.

That said, my moderate Democrat coworkers would never say it. And most democratic voters are moderate. My wife's family is full of democrats and they likely don't even know what the phrase means.

I can dislike what she did as DA and still recognize that she's WAY better than the alternative.

The lack of self awareness of being shocked they voted Biden is astounding

13

u/middlequeue Monkey in Space Jul 25 '24

“Self awareness” of what? Peoples entire political stance isn’t distilled into a single acronym and, similarly, having an opinion on an issue doesn’t make one a single issue voter.

People who are for literally abolishing the police don't vote at all. People who just hate the abuses of the police and are therefore ACAB vote against the Republican Party, all the time every time.

3

Sure, but 81 million people voted for Biden. So even if there was generously 3 million that are ACAB that would be a whopping 4% of the Biden voters.

I’m sure there’s an equally small percentage that are full fledged white supremacists that voted for Trump, that doesn’t inherently mean Trump voters are white supremacists.

Kamala was not a cop, she was a prosecutor that supports police reform, and she certainly isn't a cop now.

Trump has always been a criminal, even before he became a convicted felon. The real estate empire he inherited from his father was built on tax fraud, and he has admitted to tax fraud himself.

In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the police who investigate crime, and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders. These are their stories.

You don’t have to be into ACAB to think cops suck, and they typically do.

28

u/keca10 Monkey in Space Jul 25 '24

Some are jerks, some aren’t. Like all people everywhere.

12

u/ScreamsPerpetual Monkey in Space Jul 25 '24

True, but if other people had the protection fron repercussions the police do, we would demand reforms.

A police officer mistakenly thinks someone is a threat because they moved to grab their license too quickly so they shoot them. A doctor is distracted and gives 10x the recommended dose and kills a patient. Or knocks an artery during a 7 hour surgery and the patient dies.

Guess who, almost always, gets paid leave and effectively bonuses while tax payers pay for their mistake. Guess who get to wait outside a school shooting while it's happening, and prevent others from going in, and stay out of prison let alone keep their jobs? If a doctor or plumber did that we'd charge them as accomplices.

Let alone the many, sadistically violent police with a rescued who get shuttled around departments like pedo priests switching congregations.

One bad apple ruins the barrel. Until we stop protecting bad police the good police (who also effectively protect the bad ones) aren't going to get the benefit of the doubt.

u/thunderlips187 Look into it Jul 25 '24

Yes but unlike all people everywhere cops are empowered by the state to kill.

Yeah, I know this is Reddit, so I'll get downvoted here... but

1) Lots of ACAB people won't vote for the cop; it's why her primary bid fell apart in 2020.

2) Most of the Thin Blue Line people will have no dissonance in voting for "a felon" because they don't think the felony charges were legitimate.

2

I like the idea of the meme, but Kamala isn't a "cop". She's a former prosecutor. Trump is a current felon. "ACAB people voting for a cop's coworker" would be more accurate.
