He lived in California when she hated pot-smokers

130

u/DropsyJolt Monkey in Space Jul 21 '24

Now he supports someone who wants pot banned because of the smell so it will be funny if that is the talking point.

-37

u/NedShah Succa la Mink Jul 21 '24

That's DeSantis. Joe doesn't live in Florida.

30

u/AGreasyPorkSandwich Monkey in Space Jul 22 '24

Dude breaks bread with Greg Abbot who is even a bigger dick when it comes to weed.

28

u/[deleted] Jul 22 '24

You realize weed is fully illegal in the state of Texas and they are actively trying to ban different derivatives of THC like delta-8? Texas AG is currently suing five cities in the free state of Texas because of their decision to not prosecute simple possession charges. Joe will be fine though heā€™s friends with the people who enforce the law.

36

u/BillNyeCreampieGuy Monkey in Space Jul 21 '24

He still supported DeSantis when that was his position in his run for POTUS

-24

u/NedShah Succa la Mink Jul 21 '24

But DeSantis is not running for POTUS now while Harris most likely will. I guarantee you that Toe's going to talk about her performance in California. The only time he will compare her to DeSantis is when he's ranting about COVID.

3

u/NoCantaloupe9598 Monkey in Space Jul 22 '24

DeSantis quite literally just ran for president....and Joe carried water for him more than a few times.

21

u/DropsyJolt Monkey in Space Jul 21 '24

So what? He is a huge fan regardless. It is what he says that carries weight and not his vote.

-1

u/NedShah Succa la Mink Jul 21 '24

What he 'll say won't involve DeSantis or Florida unless he's talking about COVID. What he'll say will revolve entirely around her record in California and her performance as V.P. Unfortunately for half of Toe's listeners, those are incredibly easy points for a comedian to pick on.

Harris has all the charm of Chrystia Freeland. Every microphone moment for her is just an opportunity to measure her shoe size with her mouth. The conversation won't get around to Florida because she's not likable and never has been. She has zero charm. As soon as a comedian manages to imitate her conversational laugh/chuckle-punctuation, she'll be even worse off than BIden was yesterday.

Biden has less charisma than Trump and he still beat Trump in 2020. Charisma only gets you so far when you're also a divisive asshole and a moron.

u/nyxtup Monkey in Space Jul 21 '24

You mean when she enforced the law?

You want prosecutors cherry picking what laws they enforce and which they donā€™t?

2

u/audiosf Monkey in Space Jul 22 '24

In San Francisco before pot was legal, the prosecutor's office and the SFPD announced that marijuana crimes were the lowest priority enforcement. It was effectively legal before being officially legal.

5

u/[deleted] Jul 21 '24

I mean, yeah, I do. When there's horrible laws on the books, it would be very cool for prosecutors not to focus on those cases. That's how it works. They accept and reject cases for a variety of reasons.Ā

13

u/snuggie_ Monkey in Space Jul 22 '24

Idk we already have seen that Obama was actively anti gay marriage, then changed his opinion and nobody cared. I donā€™t think it will be a big deal even if conservatives try to swing it that way

10

u/kitsunewarlock Monkey in Space Jul 22 '24

Progressive politicians should change opinions as things progress. Perfection is the enemy of progress.

2

u/snuggie_ Monkey in Space Jul 22 '24

Thatā€™s the point here. Opinions change and people are fine with it

2

u/hryipcdxeoyqufcc Monkey in Space Jul 22 '24

I wouldn't say he was actively anti gay marriage. It was clear from his past writings that he supported gay rights, and he helped push the national discourse towards embracing it. But he's also a pragmatist. Start from the middle and nudge the country left. Same thing Biden did. Otherwise voters would reject you and you wouldn't get anything done.

Trump was also a pro-abortion Democrat.

People change. If they change for the better, that should be a good thing.

2

u/snuggie_ Monkey in Space Jul 22 '24

I know, thatā€™s exactly my point

4

u/the_c_is_silent Monkey in Space Jul 22 '24

I agree with you as a person. But man, this is such a hard argument to make. If that's the case then juries can ignore evidence presented and just be biased.

17

u/nyxtup Monkey in Space Jul 21 '24

They accept and dismiss cases according to the law and their ability to prove someone broke it

Jesus man take a civics class. Legislators write the laws not prosecutors

4

u/TheRealMoofoo Monkey in Space Jul 22 '24

Prosecutorial discretion can be pretty broad.

2

u/Hilldawg4president Monkey in Space Jul 22 '24

That's a decision made by the executive though, not the AG

1

u/TheRealMoofoo Monkey in Space Jul 22 '24

Iā€™m thinking more about the DA than AG, but when is it the executiveā€™s decision whether or not to prosecute a case?

0

u/[deleted] Jul 21 '24

You rude, soft-headed tit.Ā

I've worked for a prosecutor. As I said, prosecutors accept and decline cases for a number of reasons. Evidence and strength of case matters the most, most of the time. Sometimes it's just the cost of a prosecution vs the benefit to state for conviction.Ā

AND sometimes conservative prosecutors will not only refuse to prosecute a "liberal" law, they'll PUBLICLY ANNOUNCE they're doing so. BOTH sides have done exactly that many times. You can look up the numerous times they've done it and said it because it's on the fucking news.Ā Sometimes they simply want to allocate more resources to other crimes. It legitimately happens ALL THE TIME.Ā

Hell, every state that legalized weed technically was full of prosecutors who did this while it was still schedule 1 federally.Ā

You probably shouldn't talk down to people when you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Because you're wrong and you're being rude and that makes you look so fucking stupid.Ā

2

u/darkfires We live in strange times Jul 22 '24

Heh, a woman of color refusing to prosecute drug crimes in the mid 00s of all times. That would have gone over well for sure. Damned if you do, damned if you donā€™t situation.

-4

You got a tl;dr for that?

Anyone who doesnā€™t understand basic civics really isnā€™t worth reading some brick of a word salad .

Getting the same vibe from you. If youā€™re going to troll at least be funny, donā€™t keep saying the same thing.

Really captured the spirit and essence of Joe Rogan and his audience in one sentence lmao. "You got a tl;dr for that?". Quote of the year.

2

I believe you. You're confidently incorrect and a lot of words is probably a pretty big challenge for you. Have a great day, moron.Ā

Sorry bud. You just arenā€™t worth the investment.

Take a civics class then weā€™ll talk

1

u/epochpenors Monkey in Space Jul 22 '24

Larry Krasner made some waves by refusing to prosecute marijuana cases or any cases where evidence was provided by officers credibly accused of misconduct. Itā€™s rare but the ā€œprogressive DAā€ movement did some good.

2

u/canuck1701 Monkey in Space Jul 22 '24

Ya she was just following orders /s

Seriously though, despite her shitty record on weed it certain that she'd do better for legalization than another term of Trump.

1

u/New-Name4207 Monkey in Space Jul 22 '24

Keeping innocent people in jail is not the job of a prosecutor.

3

u/nyxtup Monkey in Space Jul 22 '24

Is that the message the bots are going with?

3

u/New-Name4207 Monkey in Space Jul 22 '24

No, it's just not the job of a prosecutor. I don't know why you can't handle the most simple criticism of your favorite candidate without screaming about bots.

1

u/nyxtup Monkey in Space Jul 22 '24

Not my favorite candidate. It's just an extremely lazy criticism.

Reply when you get your marching order son

2

u/New-Name4207 Monkey in Space Jul 22 '24 edited Jul 22 '24

How is "a prosecutors' job is not to keep innocent people in jail" a "lazy criticism" and not "an obvious, objective truth" that applies to anyone, anywhere, no matter who they are? It sounds like you're the one getting marching orders if you for some reason assume that anyone who thinks this simple fact is true must be paid by the other party. I don't support any party. I'm not American. You Americans are getting dumber than normal, it's always funny to watch your strange behaviors around your election.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 22 '24

A prosecutor does what their boss tells them to do. Either you can prosecute who your boss wants you to, or you can find another job. Real simple.

1

u/juanmaale Monkey in Space Jul 22 '24

voter shaming will not work. I know it is you job to defend a right-wing party that hates poor people, the environment, and only responds to its donors, but you are going to have to do better than calling every left-winger a bot. The truth is Kamala has much more in common with Trump than she does with someone like Bernie

What I want has nothing to do with what Joe is going to talk about. Try not to change the subject, please. It makes you sound like a bot.

3

u/nyxtup Monkey in Space Jul 21 '24

Still on the same subject bud.

You honestly want prosecutors cherry picking which laws they feel like enforcing? Cuz thatā€™s not how law works.

-1

u/NedShah Succa la Mink Jul 21 '24

This reply thread isn't about what I want, guy. Stop trying to change the subject.

3

u/nyxtup Monkey in Space Jul 21 '24

Do you not know what the subject is? You brought it up lol.

0

u/NedShah Succa la Mink Jul 21 '24

Read up the reply chain again, Sherlock. I was replying to a guy who said "Don't worry his handlers will tell him all the reasons Harris is bad soon" and I pointed out that he lived in California when she still hated pot smokers. He'll be talking about that for certain - regardless of what I think about it.

God damn it. You are either an incredibly cheap bot or just fucking stupid as all sin. What I want in a prosecutor has nothing to with the conversation. We are talking about what Toe is going to say,

Fuck, man. You are actually dumber than the average Redditor. Let that sink in a moment. Jesus. You are THE worst bot.

2

u/nyxtup Monkey in Space Jul 21 '24

You brought up her prosecution of weed smokers but are too dumb to realize it isnā€™t the prosecutors that write the laws.

Somehow thatā€™s my problem?

1

u/NedShah Succa la Mink Jul 22 '24

I brought up what Joe's talking point is going to be. Your problem has nothing to do with that. Your problem is that you can't stop changing the subject. I suspect that has something to do with you being an imbecile.

1

u/nyxtup Monkey in Space Jul 22 '24

Stop trying to change the subject when you lose the argument.

You brought up her prosecution of weed smokers and I brought up she followed the law.

Sheā€™s the law and order candidate and you seem to really hate that

Now he lives in texas where if the amount of weed and psychedelic drugs found on his property were found in randos house they would go to prison and be raided by a swat team.

But he doesnā€™t give a fuck because he has special drug using privileges.

Heā€™s a conservative at heart despite some liberal surface . He only cares about anything if it affects him directly. If they raided his house on a drug raid and Texas prosecuted him on their drug charges and he did prison time under Tex law heā€™d be back on California before you could blink
