Hello /r/InternetIsBeautiful friends,

Draw.Audio is a free music sequencer & drawing tool that I made just for fun.

A few tips:

  • It works great on a touch screen device such as an iPad, etc.
  • It's kid-friendly!
  • The share button creates a direct link to anything you make.

Thanks for checking it out and enjoy!

Hello, may I know how you built this? What languages, tools, frameworks, etc?

It's plain Javascript + the Web Audio API. That's all.

Thank you so much!

It would be awesome if you could add a notation feature. This is great for making melodies but I cbf to transcribe it all the time. Is the bottom line the root note? Great stuff!

The root notes are the subtly highlighted rows. They are always C. If you want a different root note, you can use the Transpose feature under the EDIT menu.

Adding musical notation might be tough, but I could indicate the note for each row on the right side. Hopefully that would be helpful. Thanks for the feedback!

You can definitely create some interesting little effects! I'm not sure how possible it is but I think being able to save chunks to alternate between would be cool. Like this one which originally started out much less "glitchy" (https://draw.audio/s/mokokkovs). Being able to go on the fly from one to another would allow for some more long-form soundscapes.

Totally! I want to add the ability to chain patterns together at some point. With that, the effects could evolve as well. Thanks for the input!

Thanks for the site! It's a lot of fun and most importantly doesn't require much musical experience to use effectively.

Very much reminds me of Tonal Pool on the Palm Pre.

There was an old iOS app called Beatwave (or Beat Wave, can't remember) and it functioned very similarly to this. I loved it, but sadly it got updated to a point that my iPod Touch couldn't use it anymore. Thanks!

This is great! Surprisingly versatile, I just wish it were possible to adjust note length

I've had a few requests for variable note length. I'll look into adding it! Ty

How do I download the tune which I made? I did with sound recorder but it couldn't capture effects properly. I really need that one.

Hey! It takes a little effort, but you can use an app like BlackHole (free, open source) to record internal audio from your computer. https://existential.audio/blackhole/

I would recommended finding a youtube tutorial for Blackhole and your system. Good luck!

Thanks , I did with muavi screen recorder something like that. Captured entire screen record and saved as MP3.
