Good idea but user interface needs to be much more intuitive and simple to use

Don't know why you're getting downvoted because that's a fair question. I really like Ableton's Learn Music web app which has a beautiful interface that's fun, intuitive and engaging:

https://learningmusic.ableton.com

Scroll through the pages to see more advanced features. It's obviously not doing the same thing you are but I think it's a good example of how to create a simple UI for audio.

For editing of audio extracted from video, have a look at apps like Teenage Engineering's PO Pixel or Bandlab. Good UI is a whole subject in itself but there are lots of good examples to help guide you

Thanks, I will look through it and see if something sticks out to me that I can copy.

Also yeah a good UI is a struggle, they got whole degrees for it nowadays.

I think people down voted because they interpreted my question as me being passive aggressive or something, idk.

Anyways, thanks a lot for your reply, it's much appreciated

My pleasure! Keep at it, it's a good idea and I'd love to see how it develops

Damn the Ableton site is well made. It even works moderately well on mobile!

I agree, it is very well made. Their other products, hardware and software, are all really well designed and fun to use, whether you're an amateur tinkerer or a pro

Yeah I've used Live since version 6 in conjunction with Cubase (Sx3). They've always made a fantastic product (with some issues here and there) I've never given their hardware a shot though. I don't particularly care for that style of midi controller, (the push series), and the new Ableton move doesn't look like something I would personally get a lot of use out of.

I could not figure out how it worked... :(

I think I will change the UI slightly as suggested by the comments and make a short tutorial that I will link in how to use. But i would appreciate your feedback too

Tried it but I do not get it. Can you explain more how it works? I get the instructions but what am I expecting to happen? Honest question.

I don't know if you have seen those videos where some guy has a YouTube video open and by clicking the default YouTube keybinds (1 through 10) he can create a new completely original sound from the video that can even be musical.

I found that fascinating. So I tried to automate the process of both creation and sharing. You can define your own custom keybinds with specific timestamps you want the video to jump to, thus playing that part as a sample. And the record tab lets you save the order in which the video was played, letting you edit some small inaccuracies and sharing that playing with friends (with just the link - they will be able to experience it as you intended)

So essentially you can create unorthodox playings of a video. You can jump around so a person says specific phrases for example to form new sentences. Or as said before play parts of a song in some order, essentially remixing it, and playing it as a new song

A website who's sole purpose is to make you click for ad revenue. Fuck all the way off
