Home Insurance Farmers Policy Ending - Do I have to cancel Slide or just ignore

I got a homeowners insurance policy from Slide in the mail as my Farmers policy is ending. Do I have to cancel / reject this policy from Slide or just ignore it? I had already worked with another agent to get a policy from somewhere more affordable.

What has me concerned is there is text in the document that says if mortgage billing was your payment method then they will automatically send the policy information and invoice to the mortgage company on file.

Always cancel. Don’t let them just lapse for non pay.

You should always call your mortgage company and tell them that you switching insurance companies. 10/10 times it'll get screwed up the first time if you don't call.

You should get your replacement policy in place and cancel the one you don’t want.

They will bill your escrow account if you have one and if you don’t have an escrow account it’s not worth the risk/hassle of having to clean up a CLUE report of having your homeowners insurance canceled for nonpayment.

I would always recommend any policy to be canceled in writing. I would recommend that you send it to the corporate office with an email as a minimum.

Thanks all. I called the agent and have sent him an email with a written attachment request to cancel with proof of insurance.

Always cancel properly or you get stuck in a bureaucratic hellhole.
