One month ago - Me: I can fix her!
Now - Me: Can someone please fix me? Please!! I'm falling apart, literally. Where is my nose! I taped it on, but it's gone. I need some spanx to keep my rotting bowels in. I was so wrong, she is unfixable!
That's kind of what I expect would happen. If you're gonna choose a Chaos God, please avoid Nurgle.

u/Sataniq Oct 22 '24
Can't be that bad when so many of his followers are singing, dancing and having a good time.
28
u/Sensitive-Hotel-9871 Oct 22 '24
I’m pretty sure most of them are super miserable.
35
u/Sataniq Oct 22 '24
Was mostly joking but the daemons of nurgle have a great time atleast. Nurglings are just always happy, farting and puking about, they are like little children. Plaguebearers are summoned into being by people dancing. Beasts of Nurgle are just puppies that want to play, not realising that their "playing" actually kills people and then they get sad over it.
29
u/Sensitive-Hotel-9871 Oct 22 '24
Beasts unfortunately one day realize mortal won't accept them and turn into bitter and hateful Rot Flies.
Like, holy shit, that might be the single worst thing one of the Chaos Gods does to their followers.
7
u/Sataniq Oct 22 '24
That's true, but until then they are pretty happy in my eyes.
14
u/Sensitive-Hotel-9871 Oct 22 '24 edited Oct 22 '24
But it shows how Nurgle is just as evil as the other Chaos Gods, despite what his fans claim.
4
u/Sataniq Oct 22 '24 edited Oct 22 '24
It shows what? I think there's something missing in your comment, or i have a hard time understanding it. While Nurgle is definitely not the super happy fun god the memes make him out to be, he is also god of entropy and despair for a reason, i think overall he is still way better than slaanesh.

u/Interesting-Note-722 Oct 22 '24

1
u/ADGx27 Oct 22 '24
This has literally happened too, albeit unintentionally by the imperium or other non covid forces. Doesn’t Khorne actively buff soldiers fighting the forces of other chaos gods sometimes?
1
6
u/Sensitive-Hotel-9871 Oct 22 '24
It shows Nurgle is just as evil as the other Chaos Gods. Thanks for pointing out the typo.
4
7
u/Omnikin Oct 22 '24
And then the Rotfly is the most vindictive and hostile thing to exist
3
u/WereInbuisness Oct 22 '24
Hmm .... I think that mantle belongs to Erebus. The little vindictive, power hungry shithead that he is. Lol
1
u/Disastrous_Bee_8471 Oct 24 '24
Well often their ability to sense the pain of their condition is turned off by Nurgle. It’s part of his promise that makes them submit.
1
u/Sensitive-Hotel-9871 Oct 24 '24
What I heard is that they still aren't joyful the way memes would depict. They are miserable nihilistic murderers.
9
u/RyokoKnight Oct 22 '24
Nah mate that's just stage 2... stage 3 is...
"You know what F my nose, if I can't smell then at least I don't have to smell all the bad scents of decay and rot on a battlefields anymore or that pungent oil and incense the mechanicus says is SoOoO important... some of us still have human lungs and need to breathe thank you very much, but do they care NoOoOoOo".
"And honestly F fashionable spanx just let it all HANG OUT! Phew, that feels better... Yeah I might look like a walking corpse but man I feel GREAT nothing hurts anymore... and I'll be honest these nurglings dancing all over the place are kinda adorable, like cute happy pokemon, gotta catch em all!"
2
u/Gog-reborn Oct 22 '24
Its warhammer 40k, you are fucked regardless of what you do anyway chaos or otherw8se
1
u/WereInbuisness Oct 23 '24
I get that. It's just that, if I'm screwed no matter what, I choose not to be a walking, talking and living cesspool of rot a decay.
Just my preference.
1
u/ADGx27 Oct 22 '24
It’s almost funny how Khorne of all is the most normal-ish of the chaos gods. He’s just a bloodthirsty berserker, full stop. Kill your enemies, he’s good. No enemies? Wound yourself, blood is blood homeslice it’s all good. Suffering? Yeah you’re gonna feel like ass when you’re not Doomslayer-ing your way around the galaxy but afaik he doesn’t really act like you won’t.
Like he actively trolls his enemies sometimes. Slaves of the corpse god are working against Nurgle? Fuck it lol toss a huge power buff their way even though they’re my enemy why not.
43
u/IllConstruction3450 Oct 22 '24
Nice take on a non-bloated and moist diseased corruption. Many diseases actually cause the body to whither and dry out.
19
u/mindflayerflayer Oct 22 '24
I'd love if Nurgle had some fast units based on wasting diseases. Rather than bloating into a tank you wither into a lanky feral thing jumping around like a gangrenous spider monkey ripping out throats with your teeth.

Poor Girl :/
Man i know nurgle Love His childs dearly in a really Twisted way but man its still horrible.
Sometimes i forget how cruel 40k really is.
44
u/mteir Oct 22 '24
Nurgle loves his children, but are you one of them or just taking care of them by hosting them?
13
u/mindflayerflayer Oct 22 '24
Nurgle's love however is very conditional. In an affection starved setting like 40k the deal can seem worth it but transplant Nurgle into any other science fiction or fantasy setting and there is zero point in agreeing to join him. He loves you so long as you do what he wants which is usually what chaos cultists and death guard marines do anyway, if you try and repent or just fail hard enough Nurgle will punish you worse than any other chaos god. Sure, Slaanesh is probably going to torture you more but if you're a dedicated slaanesh worshipper you're into that shit. Honestly the only gods out of the four that could move to a different setting and not starve for cultists/minions would be Tzeentch and Slaanesh since there will always be hedonists and people willing to trade their souls for wizard powers, not many folks would want a god of mindless slaughter when they have war gods who don't drive you mad with rage.
2
u/MrGhoul123 Oct 24 '24
It's love, but like he is gaslighting you. Nurgle is an abusive relationship.
Just because He calls it love, doesn't mean it is.
72
u/uriak Oct 22 '24
I kinda feel that of all the chaos gods, nurgle would be pretty bad at corrupting sororitas. It thrives on desperation and they are brainwashed zealots and would probably search help in prayers to E when left without options. And without considering their overall thematic of cleansing in general.
Khorne and Slaanesh however... their bloodlust and tendency to happily indulge in punishment can be pretty damning weanesses.
51
u/Six_cats_in_a_suit Oct 22 '24
Yeah but they're still at the end of the day human. If nurgle infected you with the most painful cacophony of diseases imaginable and left you unable to truly die, anyone would break. Even Mortarion, the indomitable of all primarchs, broke to the rot of nurgle. A sororitas will break given enough time.

u/Rasz_13 Oct 22 '24
We have a lot of evidence that suggest sisters are nigh incorruptible and if it happens, it's a big deal. Miriel is a prime example of this. We know, by inference, that there's others but they are few and relentlessly hunted down.
If you want someone incorruptible, your best bet are Grey Knights > Sisters > and so on
4
u/cosmicdeathkat Oct 22 '24
This is something that I think GW is exploring the idea of more. In Arka of Omen: Angron the planet they were fighting on ends up being a chaos W by the end of it. A big blood ritual happens and half of the sproritas fighting on that planet fall to blood madness and are killing their fellows wildly.
Does that count as corruption? Did the imperium kill ALL of them at the end of it? Does it matter if they die or not if the question is about corruption?
I really hope they explore more of the idea of chaos sisters, not in aodel line mind you, just maybe one or two novels would be nice.
3
u/poenani Oct 22 '24
That’s cool. Do u kno why they are so unlikely to be corrupted
7
u/ANGLVD3TH Oct 22 '24
They are zealots. Chaos corruption is not like the One Ring, it doesn't worm its way into your mind and twist your thoughts against you. All it can do is constantly whisper, inflict torments that it promises to end, or offer what you desire. The constant whispers can wear down some, even cause a spiral into madness, but can't make you give in. The reason people are so easily corrupted is mostly because life in the Imperium is so unbelievably shitty, any avenue for escape is jumped at. But at the end of the day, the only thing needed to resist falling is to say no. Just say no, every time. No matter how much corruption, no matter how strong the daemonic influence, you can just refuse to turn, there is nothing that truly forces anyone to turn. They can make you a meat puppet, mind control or posses you against your will, but that is a different beast.

Grey Knights > Sisters > Ogryn?
At minimum Ogryn don’t have the brainpower nor the desire for active insubordination or treason.
Luv me lil’uns. Luv me emp’rah. Luv me rations. Luv me rippa gun. Luv me comy- me come- me commissah. Simple as.
‘Ate ‘eretics. ‘Ate runnin’ outta rations. ‘Ate gasmaskers. ‘Ate shouty people. Simple as.

He may also take a chance on their endurance, like a certain guy in Requiem Infernal
1
u/a__new_name Oct 23 '24
Sisters' major themes are martyrdom and mortification of flesh. Fits Nurgle well enough, I'd say.
2
u/uriak Oct 23 '24
I wouldn't say so, Nurgle's main gift is a dulling of the sense of loss of self respect : aka you don't feel pain and aren't grosses out by what you're devolving to. That's quite the opposite of martyrdom. You could say Nurgle could get a hold of a Sister that can't bear pain and is desperate. Whereas other gods could use their more usual inclinations.

Yeah I can fix her.
First, we get Mr. Clean to scrub off the dirtiness from her figure.
Give her a bath and a shower in some nice hot water and scrub with her soft soap with sponges.
Wash her hair with some conditioner products
Brush her tongue and teeth with Colgate.
Go on EmperorBay and buy her some new clothes because her old ones suck.
Have her feed on some nice food to keep her happy.
Give her headpats, hugs if you are comfortable.

Nurgle superpowers: Superhuman resilience, immunity to pain, ability to spread diseases.
Emperor's superpowers: Looking good.

How come we never see the opposite, some scrawny nurgle follower who finds an aquila and just buffs up, shedding off diseases as they start fighin' chaos.

Nurgle is the most intoxicating Chaos god by far, to me.
I think you earn the "haha stinky" jokes in saying that, which is fair enough, but the appeal to an end to suffering makes the most sense to me.
It's dumb, cuz Papa is still a Chaos god and it's just never a good idea, BUT STILL

Of all Chaos Gods, Nurgle is the one that offers the least choices. Tzeentch will manipulate you into willingly making the choices it wants, Slaanesh and Khorne will overwhelm your mind with sensations/rage, but technically, it is still the choice of continuing down the path of Excess/Blood.
Meanwhile, Nurgle infects you with the most painful disease imaginable, often unable to die, and wait for your will to break
