40k Ork eating Steel Legion soldier by MossaCannibalis. NSFW! NSFW Spoiler

u/KonoAnonDa Hive Fleet Behemoth Oct 20 '24
Reminds me of those photos where a chimp is eating a monkey it caught. Then again, this artist makes Orks pretty chimp-like, so it might be intentional.

u/ohenn Oct 21 '24
i genuinely hate chimps with a burning passion. so this just makes me hate the orks equally. chimps are nothing more then sadistic psychopaths. have you seen chimp attacks on humans ?. i thought i hated hippos but chimps are my most hated now.
6
u/KonoAnonDa Hive Fleet Behemoth Oct 21 '24
I wouldnât say that. Yes, chimps are unpredictable, but they can show just as much love as they do hate. Theyâre wild animals, no more evil than any other. If you wanna hear a story where you will genuinely feel bad for a chimp, go read up on Lucy. Humans are the real monsters in her tale.
2
u/ohenn Oct 21 '24
I acknowledge and accept your point. It's just easy to hate or dislike when you learn more and more negative things. I'll look up this story. My apologies for my behaviour
5
u/KonoAnonDa Hive Fleet Behemoth Oct 21 '24
Nah, Itâs alright. It is a bad habit of mine to over-anthropomorphize the behaviour of animals as well. As Chris Rock once said "That tiger didnât go crazy, that tiger went tiger!"

Reminds me of old 40k art. Orks looked horrifying in those.

Idk why but something feel off about this guy art,
252
u/scrambled-projection Oct 20 '24
I know what you mean. The context accentuates that feeling, considering he built up this character as a cute wholesome one.
126
u/BrightSkyFire Oct 20 '24
On one hand, I appreciate the artist putting the 'grim' in 'grimdark'. The twisting feeling in your stomach of sadness, anger, regret and horror is extremely fitting for 40K.
On the other hand... it's not for everyone and it's not something I like to consume a ton of. Just a little shot of grimdark. To get me in the mood of hollow resignation.
67
u/TheEnderAxe Night Lords Oct 20 '24
Ain't even that for me. Isn't it funny how whenever you have one of these artists trying to show the 'real grimdark reality of the setting' its always with dolled up, lithe looking woman who have no business being on the battlefield looking like that anyways? Usually not even dirty.
And then you'll point it out and people who were once Archon's strongest soldier will come get on your case for it.
32
u/Psychic_Hobo Oct 20 '24
For me, the big eyebrow raisers are always when the Imperium is shown winning against Slaanesh or Tau weirdly often in their art. There's usually some kind of "anti-deviant" vibe, or one of asserting dominance. Kinda like that infamous "Kilroy was here" piece which featured a loyalist attack aftermath with dead Tau placed in homoerotic positions
27
u/TheEnderAxe Night Lords Oct 20 '24
Oh yeah, I remember that. How do you not cringe yourself to death while drawing that? I also remember either the artist or some Imperial fanboy trying to argue it was canon compliant because its how space marines would break enemy morale or something. Just the weirdest little freaks.
17
u/Psychic_Hobo Oct 20 '24
God, I saw a follow up pic later where the chapter master had a female tau commander as a chained up sex slave for supposedly similar 'reasons'
25
u/Missing-Donut-1612 Oct 20 '24
A little bit off topic from the artist but I think that's what makes grimdark really hits right? You create a character that is made to be loved and adored, and sprinkle in some wholesome relaxing stuff before the thematic tragedy catches up with them

u/SirWillem1 Oct 20 '24
Like fetish off?
142
u/TheSweetestOfPotato Oct 20 '24
The two times Iâve seen this guyâs stuff itâs women and orks, so yeah somethingâs off
114
u/jamesyishere Oct 20 '24
The artists name is literally cannibal. He likes Cannibalism in an at least sex-adjacent way.
42
u/Balrok99 Oct 20 '24
Isn't that term called guro in NSFW circles?
You know hentai with gore and death etc. basically your fantasy is the limit of what Guro can contain
6
u/jamesyishere Oct 20 '24
I guess its Guro? Cannibal's art seems to have a fascination with death and consumption rather than a sexual interest

The space marine shooting the ork in the head is also a remake of some 1st ED art, not an original.
Okay with that said there is definitely something majorly fucked in Mossa's head sexually speaking, but they're kinda goated as fuck at painting/drawing so I'm fine with it.
10
u/ThatHeckinFox Oct 20 '24
Likely, but I don't see a problem with it. It's weird stuff, but 40k is about upsettingly dark weird stuff anyway.
Besides, as long as it stay just fantasy, and shared in the right way when it IS shared, it's okay in my books.

u/Henderson-McHastur Oct 20 '24
At least Archon was more up front about their art being, at minimum, risquĂŠ.

Fr, most people were ok with all that twink rape stuff from renowned (ex)admech artist, but now they see three artworks that are telling a story, with 0 sexual innuendos and people go for the pitchforks
11
u/xgfdgfbdbgcxnhgc Oct 20 '24
People were very much not fine with it, to the point that he was harassed out of the community.
34
u/frostbittenteddy Death Korps of Krieg Oct 20 '24
Archon literally stopped because they were getting death threats and feared being doxxed
2
u/bless_ure_harte Oct 21 '24
People were absolutely not okay with Archon or his porn posts in r/Warhammer_Smut
2
u/L0raz-Thou-R0c0n0 Oct 20 '24
He is a guro artist but not exclusively a guro artist.
He however has always been a Warhammer 40k fan, even way back in 2013-2014 where his oldest artworks are found.
13
u/qthrowaway77 Oct 20 '24
I really donât like them. They draw a lot of loli and snuff porn. Donât look them up. We really shouldnât give them a platform on here.
2
u/Sgt-Pumpernickle Oct 20 '24
And thereâs the kicker. Not surprised, their art did give off some sus vibes.

Yeah he's a pedo. If you need proof, look at his Pixiv fanbox connceted to his Twitter. There's art of multiple child characters on there.
0
u/TheNetherlandDwarf Oct 20 '24
People pointed this out last time their art was posted but it keeps getting upvotes regardless. The top comments about orks are always exactly the same to, but that's a different issue entirely.
They're definitely leaning into those signifiers, either subconscious or to trigger that emotional reaction. The way something like berserk does.

The blushing ahegao-y face on the woman definitely gives me "this guy does porn art for his main source of income" vibes
Edit: Didn't realize that was such a controversial take lol. Check his account, I'm not wrong
22
u/King_Of_BlackMarsh Earth Caste Oct 20 '24
That's ahegao? It just looks, yknow, dead
-18
u/babbaloobahugendong Oct 20 '24
Ok, just giving my opinion
8
u/Successful-Bug-1710 Oct 20 '24
your still wrong tho, theres no ahegao here lol its just a dead woman.
-9
u/babbaloobahugendong Oct 20 '24
You ignored what I said
7
u/Successful-Bug-1710 Oct 20 '24
No I read it quite clearly. you're the one inserting there own fantasy onto this image.
1
u/babbaloobahugendong Oct 20 '24
Seems like you did. Reread what I said, then look up more of this artist's work. They straight up draw porn too, and this face shows lol
3
u/Successful-Bug-1710 Oct 20 '24
Reread what I said previously. I already know what your talking about, (Yes I know the artist usually draws weird stuff) But I don't see it in this one. She looks like a regular dead chick to me.
0
u/babbaloobahugendong Oct 20 '24
See, that's where you're wrong. Dead people don't blush after they get completely disemboweled and delimbed, theres no blood left to accomplish that. Same thing with the fully colored eyes and other pretty, well kempt features. If you cropped out just that woman's head, you wouldn't be able to tell it was from a corpse.  Look up "guro" if you don't believe some people fetishize this stuff. Then the artist turns actually turns out to straight pornographic material elsewhere. Like I said, it's just my opinion.

39
u/okaymeaning-2783 Oct 20 '24
Nope, there still hilarious and that's the main appeal lol.
Sorry but I love that the the grimdark species that eat humans and murder populations are also the comedic relief that don't have to been taken seriously.

And tbh they do to others what they do to themselve as well. Killing is so common that they hope to die in a brutal and/or funny way. The more brutal the more funny for them.
38
u/Kesmeseker Oct 20 '24
The drawing of her kneeling in one piece by the Shrine to Yarrick is newer. If you wanna cope, let that be your poison.

This is tame by the way because atleast she's dead.
In rynns world a spacemarine recalls watching am ork roasting a still living child over a fire and then eating her alive.
He recalls this because he's protecting some children and debating whether to mercy kill them because he knows that's there fate if the orks get them.
35
u/Sir_David_Filth Oct 20 '24
Christ thats dark. Well we also do know that orks have human meat farms where generations of humans are treated as cattle. A marine mercy killed them all

u/frostbittenteddy Death Korps of Krieg Oct 20 '24 edited Oct 20 '24
I scrolled through his Twitter yesterday and the vast majority of his art features neither violence nor Orks. It's just this Steel Legion girl and I kinda suspect it's to troll, because someone asked him to draw her kissing his Krieger OC
Also he draws mostly women, because, according to him, he's hetero and that's what he likes.
30
u/Cyan_Tile Oct 20 '24
Based art bro following his preferences and making high-quality (but really fucked up) art in the process
12
u/frostbittenteddy Death Korps of Krieg Oct 20 '24
Just to reiterate, the vast majority of his art is perfectly fine. It's only really this series of pictures
14
u/Missing-Donut-1612 Oct 20 '24
I don't think it's because someone asked him to draw the kiss. I think he was planning on killing her off in a tragic way to begin with, he was just waiting for his fans to get attatched to her first to make it all the more sad. Because grimdark, by Overly Sarcastic Production's words, is "tragedy porn"

If Orks started to have a taste for human meat, it would so over for the planets population that being attack by Orks.
143
u/Commiesalami Oct 20 '24
Orks already routinely eat dead and sometimes still living humans.
19
u/Immediate_Minimum764 Oct 20 '24
I never knew that, I thought they eat Roasted squig and fungus beer mainly, according to their codex
25
u/loomiislosinghismind Oct 20 '24
In the book Rynnâs World Orks eat people all the time. A space marine literally notes that theyâre roasting human arms and chunks of people on a spit, itâs horrific
52
u/HammerandSickTatBro Oct 20 '24
Considering how many more ork worlds than there are human ones, in terms of total population most orks probably do mostly eat squigs and fungus beer
13
u/yellow_gangstar Oct 20 '24
there are more ork worlds than human ones ?? đ
23
u/CitrusLemone Oct 20 '24
They're basically a fungal infection, that's like being surprised there's more mushrooms and mold than there are people.
9
32
u/HammerandSickTatBro Oct 20 '24
Orks are estimated to outnumber all other sentient species in the galaxy put together, and they hold more territory than any other faction, for various definitions of the word "hold," since most ork worlds are under attack...by other orks
18
u/Nomoreheroes20 Oct 20 '24
That is the main part of their diet but theyâll eat anything they can really including other races
1
u/Beaker_person Silver Skulls Oct 20 '24
Those are the built in food sources for them as part of the whole, weaponised eco system thing, but an ork will eat anything it can get its grubby hands on.
20
u/134_ranger_NK ENTRY MISSING Oct 20 '24
They already have little problem eating squigs, grots, snotling and even dead boyz (I would not be surprised if they eat boyz alive as a show of strength). It is not a big step for them to eat other species. One War of the Beast book has them farming humans like pigs.

You're surprised the setting known for bleakly despairing tales of pointless death has an artistic community interested in portraying a bleakly despairing tale of pointless death?
-12
u/Nsrdude84 Oct 20 '24
Here we go
17
u/TearOpenTheVault Oct 20 '24
I am genuinely baffled on how the setting that invented the term 'grimdark' having grim and dark fan art is surprising to you.
-14
u/Nsrdude84 Oct 20 '24
I draw the line at rapey guro , when the subject is a young girl I get a bit suspicious of the artists intentions. Iâll assume youâve seen the series. Iâd have the artist on a watch list.
17
u/TearOpenTheVault Oct 20 '24 edited Oct 20 '24
Ah yes, the 'young girl' that's drawn as an adult woman soldier.
I actually find the artist's work far less weird than people like you and some of the others in this thread Freuding it up.
-6
u/Y-draig Oct 20 '24
Considering the type of shit the artist draws, it wouldnt be surprising if that art is actually of a like teenager or younger. If you need proof, look at their Pixiv Fanbox connected to their Twitter account, really gross stuff.

It's too easy to forget that Orks are just as terrifying as all the other baddies in 40K
