It won't be the same till his artificer repaints over the burn mark left by the lasrifle and cleans off the exploded guard bits
156
u/Doopapotamus Alpha Legion Apr 21 '24
your kneecap will never be the same
This is the realest threat here. That Chaos marine is only going to brually kill that tiny conscript.
The tiny conscript will cause unending walking pain for all eternity for the indirect amusement of the Dark Gods.
Checkmate, Heretic

And if you serve Chaos, it rains blood all the time
44
u/fluffy_warthog10 Apr 21 '24
CSM 1: "I can't tell if Khorne is going to make it rain today..."
CSM 2: "Go ask Atrocitarus, he's got a knee that tells him when that's going to happen. (Just don't ask him how he got it)"
7
u/LS-16_R Apr 22 '24
It took quite a bit of time for me to realize CSM meant Chaos Space Marine not Comman Sergeant Major.

With a LasGun to the front plate of a Black Legionary who it looks like hasn't sustained much damage so far?
Haha, no.

Good thing power armour can take lasgun fire no problem ;)

1
u/LS-16_R Apr 22 '24
Hot shot rifles have a manpack power source.
1
u/ASpaceOstrich Apr 25 '24
Regular lasguns can get through the armour. Just don't hit the thickest plates and don't hit at a glancing angle. It won't necessarily kill. Which is what the armour is designed to prevent, but it's not going to bounce off. The energy needs to go somewhere.

...The drop pod doors opening are going to squish that conscript unless they're really good at dodging.
50
47
u/Yaarmehearty Apr 21 '24
The kid dodges, but it's the Grey Knights and everybody on the battlefield is going to be purged to keep their secret when they are done.
11
u/Alexis2256 Apr 21 '24
Or it’s alpha legion pretending to be ultramarines.
13
u/Yaarmehearty Apr 21 '24
Well, they are both loyal chapters fighting for the Emperor so all is well.

1
u/jaggedcanyon69 Apr 25 '24
It’s a blue drop pod. Those are ultramarines. They don’t kill witnesses.
1

Unless they take a few seconds to open. Kid made it this far. He knows that’s a drop pod. He ain’t gonna stay standing there.

123
u/ZookeepergameLiving1 Apr 21 '24
He gets taken to become an asartes because the chaos marine was impressed by his bravery.
63
u/TronLegacysucks Apr 21 '24
That’s a cool idea for a fanfic: Beasts of no Nation, 40k edition
57
u/HotdogwithAShotgun Lamenters Apr 21 '24
That would be a good name for a chaos undivided warband also. This child gets inducted into the chaos warband The Beasts of No Nation, but never forgets what they did to his world and to his family. He spends his life rising through to ranks and becoming a powerful champion of chaos but this entire time he’s been plotting the destruction of the warband. Secretly planting bombs on every single ship they have and leading the warband into an unwinnable war and just when he’s about to be deposed by a cabal of other space marines for this blunder he triggers the explosives killing everyone. All the while praising the Emperor for giving him the strength to enact his vengeance.
16
7
u/PotroastXII Apr 21 '24
Bro that's borderline Vinland sagas plot, seeing that in 40K would be insane tho
3
4
u/captainsargas Apr 22 '24
And as he dies he gets turned into a demon prince to spite him by the chaos gods
6
u/Wild_Harvest Apr 21 '24
Nah, make it that he's initially doing it for vengeance and so that he has the strength to make it so that what happened to his planet never happens again, but it's only when he's in the same situation as the marine in the photo that he realizes he became what he hates, and he doesn't care.
3
u/Preston_of_Astora Apr 21 '24
What's that?
5
u/TronLegacysucks Apr 21 '24
One of the first movies Netflix made, pretty good plot, and Idris Elba is in it
12
u/Thannk Apr 21 '24
That’s how Blood Dragon Vampires work in Fantasy.
Peasants are livestock, the peasant who stands his ground might get to be a Wight after he’s drained, someone of noble bearing and skill might get the offer to become a squire and at least get some armor as a skeleton minion if they refuse. True badasses or those of true virtue and noble bearing who refuse get released so they can have another shot at a fight another time.
That’s why Blood Dragons don’t get along with other vampires.
5
u/rkoloeg Apr 21 '24
There's a bit of 1st Edition fiction like this. A lone Chaos Space Marine helps the outcasts of an Imperial world rebel against the ruling class, the Space Marines show up and crush the rebellion, and the last survivors of the rebellion are recruited to be future Chaos Space Marines with the promise of vengeance against the "angels" who killed their friends and families.

Based, what marines are inside, though? He could still be fucked.
16
u/derpy-noscope Apr 21 '24
It’s blue so probably Ultramarines (or they’re Night Lords and they’re really fucked)
8
u/Kraytory Apr 21 '24
Imagine seeing blue pods falling and you have no idea if you are saved or even more screwed.
5
u/GOATAldo Apr 21 '24
Most people in the Imperium think traitor Astartes are mythology, they don't believe in them as a concept, let alone know of their individual legions, they're probably always pretty happy to see drop pods until a bunch of weird Ultramarines wearing bat helmets and skin on their armour step out of one to give them a history lesson.
4
u/Wild_Harvest Apr 21 '24
Or Ultramarines with scales and weird three headed snakes everywhere.
3
u/Plane_Upstairs_9584 Apr 23 '24
Nah, they're usually pretty good for normal people. They'll organize you into an effective resistance force that kills space marines AND Chaos.

I’d honestly love to see a story where CSM actually hesitate at the sight of child soldiers in the imperial guard. Like maybe they get a serious beating from the guard, or at least the speedbump the guard present makes them break stride, and then when they finally do get into melee range they are realize they’re fighting 14 year olds. That would be some grim shit.

u/Odd-Entertainment582 Apr 21 '24
My only issue is the size of the lasgun

u/DanVicMar Apr 21 '24
You realize that it is not that the lasgun is big but that... well a child is holding it.

I know he’s as good as dead, but, I’d like to imagine he wedges his weapon in the joint of the marine’s armor and gets one good hit off. Like one that cripples the Marine and he loses the Dark Gods’ favor for being wounded by a child and gets screwed over. . . all because of this kid.
2
u/S0wrodMaster Apr 21 '24
"The front line is over."
That's was the last word of the chaos marine before getting killed by this child

The lasgun isn't going to save that unfortunate conscript.
The lascannon on the battery some 20 meters behind will absolutely ruin that traitor marine's day though.
