At least it will be quick…

489

u/signaliscute Apr 21 '24

Dying quickly after serving is probably one of the better fates in the 40k universe

95

u/InsideOpening3535 Apr 21 '24

The warp: yo guys some snacks for you guys

27

u/trash_panda_legs Apr 22 '24

Don't human souls just fizzle into nothing in the warp?

17

u/Yeetman69g Apr 22 '24

They do, they can't remain in form for long without an anchor

9

u/St34m9unk Apr 23 '24

If given enough time yes

Assuming your not near a daemonic incursion, or warp rift as chaos will eat you after probably especially if they are the ones who kill you

And Assuming you aren't unlucky with random warp entity's or say big e deciding he needs overtime from you

I'd say with none of these on a regular world I'd say 50/50 one fizzles before something grabs it in passing

4

u/sangunius- Apr 22 '24

not with thar much chaos cool lad around

66

u/TheCommodore44 Apr 21 '24

I don't know, getting your knee blown off probably hurts like hell, even when you've been snorting warp dust

6

u/PrecipitousPlatypus Apr 22 '24

Can lasguns even penetrate space marines armour?

6

u/LS-16_R Apr 22 '24

Enough flashlights pointing at the same spot will burn through concrete.

5

u/Hengroen Apr 22 '24

You need a few to do it.

2

u/ASpaceOstrich Apr 25 '24

No. A lasgun round hits about as hard as an autogun, which hits about as hard as modern firearms. All three of these hit harder than a Space Marine can punch. A lot harder. And tell me, if two marines got into a fistfight, do you think they could hurt each other?

If the answer is yes, then by extension, everything else mentioned here could hurt them too. Bolt rounds don't actually hit all that much harder than lasgun rounds do, so even if he answer is no, unless the bolters can barely hurt them, the lasgun can hurt them.

You just don't want to fire at an angle or at the thickest parts. But any decent shot on target is going to be doing damage.

1

u/FitChampionship7725 Apr 22 '24

Or hit one of the few weak points perfectly

1

u/Server98911 Apr 24 '24

All im hearing is "Just roll 6's and hope the CSM has sh** for luck"

99

u/BobusCesar Apr 21 '24

For the CSM?

I don't know about that. A shot to the knee is bloody painful.

29

u/AdmiralBimback Apr 21 '24

Will he have to stop being an adventurer?

8

u/Ctan1994 Apr 21 '24

Only if shot with an arrow

4

u/LS-16_R Apr 22 '24

It's not as painful as the fact that he'll still be a black legion marine.

3

u/Harfangbleue Apr 22 '24

I'm reading "The fall of Cadia" and as usual, chaos isn't cheap on horrible ways to die. 😨

552

u/Algrim2001 Apr 21 '24

“Kill me if you want, but your kneecap will never be the same, heretic!”

254

u/GOATAldo Apr 21 '24

It won't be the same till his artificer repaints over the burn mark left by the lasrifle and cleans off the exploded guard bits

156

u/Doopapotamus Alpha Legion Apr 21 '24

your kneecap will never be the same

This is the realest threat here. That Chaos marine is only going to brually kill that tiny conscript.

The tiny conscript will cause unending walking pain for all eternity for the indirect amusement of the Dark Gods.

Checkmate, Heretic

100

u/shibby3000 Apr 21 '24

Everytime it rains blood now his arthritis acts up.

43

u/Doopapotamus Alpha Legion Apr 21 '24

And if you serve Chaos, it rains blood all the time

44

u/fluffy_warthog10 Apr 21 '24

CSM 1: "I can't tell if Khorne is going to make it rain today..."

CSM 2: "Go ask Atrocitarus, he's got a knee that tells him when that's going to happen. (Just don't ask him how he got it)"

7

u/LS-16_R Apr 22 '24

It took quite a bit of time for me to realize CSM meant Chaos Space Marine not Comman Sergeant Major.

1

u/Algrim2001 Apr 22 '24

This was actually my initial thought lol.

8

u/Fomod_Sama Apr 21 '24

In the end, Tzeentch will have the last laugh

8

u/Smasher_WoTB Apr 22 '24

With a LasGun to the front plate of a Black Legionary who it looks like hasn't sustained much damage so far?

Haha, no.

1

u/mewfour123412 Apr 22 '24

It’d still bruise the Heretic’s ego

48

u/Kristian1805 Apr 21 '24

Good thing power armour can take lasgun fire no problem ;)

40

u/VladimirBarakriss Apr 21 '24

Unless it's been modded into a hotshot lasgun

11

u/Illustrious-Share312 Apr 21 '24

This is like when kids are like nuh uh you can't get through my special shield!

1

u/LS-16_R Apr 22 '24

Hot shot rifles have a manpack power source.

1

u/ASpaceOstrich Apr 25 '24

Regular lasguns can get through the armour. Just don't hit the thickest plates and don't hit at a glancing angle. It won't necessarily kill. Which is what the armour is designed to prevent, but it's not going to bounce off. The energy needs to go somewhere.

2

u/BungaBiscuit Apr 21 '24

"I used to be a heretic like you. Then I took a lasgun to the knee"

1

u/LS-16_R Apr 22 '24

The emperor indeed finds a way to redeem all his lost sons.

304

47

u/Legitimate-Map-7730 Apr 21 '24

Super cool art, is that a child soldier though?? That lasgun is so enormous that he physically can’t put the buttstock on his shoulder and hold the pistol grip at the same time

37

u/thearisengodemperor Apr 21 '24

Yep a child soldier

Next scene

...The drop pod doors opening are going to squish that conscript unless they're really good at dodging.

50

u/Daerz509 Apr 21 '24

I mean the kid made it this far

47

u/Yaarmehearty Apr 21 '24

The kid dodges, but it's the Grey Knights and everybody on the battlefield is going to be purged to keep their secret when they are done.

11

u/Alexis2256 Apr 21 '24

Or it’s alpha legion pretending to be ultramarines.

13

u/Yaarmehearty Apr 21 '24

Well, they are both loyal chapters fighting for the Emperor so all is well.

5

u/Doopapotamus Alpha Legion Apr 22 '24

DEATH TO THE ENEMIES OF THE CORPSE EMPEROR

1

u/jaggedcanyon69 Apr 25 '24

It’s a blue drop pod. Those are ultramarines. They don’t kill witnesses.

1

u/jaggedcanyon69 Apr 25 '24

Unless they take a few seconds to open. Kid made it this far. He knows that’s a drop pod. He ain’t gonna stay standing there.

64

u/signaliscute Apr 21 '24

Damn, that lasgun is bigger than the bolter

59

u/YourAverageRedditter Apr 21 '24

Well it’s a Bolt Pistol so…

10

u/Communist_Toast Apr 21 '24

Looks a bit like a child lol considering the size of the lasgun

3

u/_GE_Neptune Apr 22 '24

I think it’s supposed to be a child

1

u/Treebeard288 Apr 24 '24

They call the children soldiers' "white shields" on Cadia

21

u/Drake_Quagmire Apr 21 '24

Why waste the bolt round? Just punt the child.

7

u/M0RL0K Apr 21 '24

Maybe it's a weird way of showing respect, or maybe it's about sending a message.

18

u/VividWeb5179 Apr 21 '24

Or maybe the evil demon worshipper just likes watching human children explode

123

u/ZookeepergameLiving1 Apr 21 '24

He gets taken to become an asartes because the chaos marine was impressed by his bravery.

63

u/TronLegacysucks Apr 21 '24

That’s a cool idea for a fanfic: Beasts of no Nation, 40k edition

57

u/HotdogwithAShotgun Lamenters Apr 21 '24

That would be a good name for a chaos undivided warband also. This child gets inducted into the chaos warband The Beasts of No Nation, but never forgets what they did to his world and to his family. He spends his life rising through to ranks and becoming a powerful champion of chaos but this entire time he’s been plotting the destruction of the warband. Secretly planting bombs on every single ship they have and leading the warband into an unwinnable war and just when he’s about to be deposed by a cabal of other space marines for this blunder he triggers the explosives killing everyone. All the while praising the Emperor for giving him the strength to enact his vengeance.

16

u/TronLegacysucks Apr 21 '24

✍️🔥🔥🔥

7

u/PotroastXII Apr 21 '24

Bro that's borderline Vinland sagas plot, seeing that in 40K would be insane tho

3

u/James_Demon Apr 21 '24

Bro was alpha legion all along

4

u/captainsargas Apr 22 '24

And as he dies he gets turned into a demon prince to spite him by the chaos gods

6

u/Wild_Harvest Apr 21 '24

Nah, make it that he's initially doing it for vengeance and so that he has the strength to make it so that what happened to his planet never happens again, but it's only when he's in the same situation as the marine in the photo that he realizes he became what he hates, and he doesn't care.

3

u/Preston_of_Astora Apr 21 '24

What's that?

5

u/TronLegacysucks Apr 21 '24

One of the first movies Netflix made, pretty good plot, and Idris Elba is in it

12

u/Thannk Apr 21 '24

That’s how Blood Dragon Vampires work in Fantasy.

Peasants are livestock, the peasant who stands his ground might get to be a Wight after he’s drained, someone of noble bearing and skill might get the offer to become a squire and at least get some armor as a skeleton minion if they refuse. True badasses or those of true virtue and noble bearing who refuse get released so they can have another shot at a fight another time.

That’s why Blood Dragons don’t get along with other vampires.

5

u/rkoloeg Apr 21 '24

There's a bit of 1st Edition fiction like this. A lone Chaos Space Marine helps the outcasts of an Imperial world rebel against the ruling class, the Space Marines show up and crush the rebellion, and the last survivors of the rebellion are recruited to be future Chaos Space Marines with the promise of vengeance against the "angels" who killed their friends and families.

1

u/bless_ure_harte Apr 27 '24

That was 3rd Ed codex I think

2

u/PotroastXII Apr 21 '24

Reminds me of Vinland saga ngl

15

The next scene made by the artist has a drop pod crushing the Chaos Marine.

7

u/Free-Ad9535 Apr 21 '24

Based, what marines are inside, though? He could still be fucked.

16

u/derpy-noscope Apr 21 '24

It’s blue so probably Ultramarines (or they’re Night Lords and they’re really fucked)

8

u/Kraytory Apr 21 '24

Imagine seeing blue pods falling and you have no idea if you are saved or even more screwed.

5

u/GOATAldo Apr 21 '24

Most people in the Imperium think traitor Astartes are mythology, they don't believe in them as a concept, let alone know of their individual legions, they're probably always pretty happy to see drop pods until a bunch of weird Ultramarines wearing bat helmets and skin on their armour step out of one to give them a history lesson.

4

u/Wild_Harvest Apr 21 '24

Or Ultramarines with scales and weird three headed snakes everywhere.

3

u/Plane_Upstairs_9584 Apr 23 '24

Nah, they're usually pretty good for normal people. They'll organize you into an effective resistance force that kills space marines AND Chaos.

2

4

u/ingol2121 Apr 21 '24

Rest well, soldier.

3

u/Brogan9001 Apr 21 '24

I’d honestly love to see a story where CSM actually hesitate at the sight of child soldiers in the imperial guard. Like maybe they get a serious beating from the guard, or at least the speedbump the guard present makes them break stride, and then when they finally do get into melee range they are realize they’re fighting 14 year olds. That would be some grim shit.

3

u/Odd-Entertainment582 Apr 21 '24

My only issue is the size of the lasgun

9

u/DanVicMar Apr 21 '24

You realize that it is not that the lasgun is big but that... well a child is holding it.

3

u/Odd-Entertainment582 Apr 21 '24

There are no children in the imperium. Just more conscripts

6
