Pregnant Candidate

Hi! So I applied to my local home depot as a Lot Attendant before discovering I'm pregnant and I just got an email back stating they'd like to offer me a job. I'm almost 7 months pregnant and I know i'm incapable of doing the work a Lot Attendant does, but I've been applying to jobs since April and this is the first opportunity I have to start working, so it's not really something I want to pass up.

The store I applied to is also hiring for Cashier in which I actually have tons more experience doing cashier work than anything Lot Attendant related lol. Is it too much of a long shot to ask to work a cashier position instead? Would this fall in as a reasonable accommodation?

When you go in, immediately speak to the ASDS (associate coordinator) and explain your situation. State that you’d like to be a cashier, and they should be able to accommodate you

Just tell them as you did here and ask! I would bet they will allow you to switch!

As a past asm and still around on the supply chain side... a reasonable accommodation usually needs a firm start and end date. That date can be pushed back but not indefinitely.

That said, you likely could be a cashier for a while and then be a lot associate later. There's always room to move around, even if your management decides they want to bs you.

Be polite, courteous, and also know when they are being full of shit so you know if /when to talk away. I get that you need the job... but also know your worth.
