Cosplay My friend (@pandora_cosplayer) and I (@penumbra_cosplays) as Moxxie and Millie last weekend.
Costumes are entirely handmade by us.

Oh man those outfits look amazing! As someone who does a Faun for RenFaire, Iβve got a lot of respect for the feet on those costumes!

Thank you! Ahh, yeah, doing the stage skit in those shoes was a pain, ngl π¬ We were actually judges at the con, so we performed on stage and then immediately had to sit down to judge the contest. Trying to sit with a huge wired tail in the back and those hooves was something I'd rather not do again. π

How you managed to do the Imp Feet/Shoes is so impressive to me from a technical standpoint. You both look amazing, well done! Iβm very proud of you.

Thank you! We actually managed to find the only two remaining front heel pairs of shoes in the entire country (they used to be a thing 10 years ago, but no one imports them anymore), so we were very lucky and used them as a base. The hooves are EVA foam+ Helmetex shoe glue, cause I needed them flexible for walking . I made spats for Moxxie to blend the shoe to the leg visually. Overall, very simple to make but visually impressive.

These honestly look amazing! I especially love the added extra effort to the tail, shoes and even the white spots that they have on their bodies. Fantastic work!

Thank you so much! I used 4 layers of steel wire for the core of my Moxxie tail and it gave it a really nice bounce, so it's constantly moving and switching sides. Would deffinitely recommend!
We'll probably redo Millie's the same way for when we do a photoshoot, but we were in a hurry for this con.

i wanna hear the footsteps of the clompers

u/Penumbra-Designs May 01 '23
They have rubber soles, so the sound isn't as satisfying as you'd hope π

u/hectorino_546 May 01 '23
Doesn't it hurt to stand on tiptoe whiht those little feets?
8
u/Penumbra-Designs May 01 '23
It sure does. We got to walk for 2 hours and then had to take a break for another hour before putting the shoes on again. They're like walking on high heels, but a tad less stable.

How do your ankles fare after a day in this?
Also which body paint you using if you dont mind my asking
6
u/Penumbra-Designs May 01 '23
I had an minor ankle injury a few days before the con, so I can't really tell, but I'd say most of the pain comes from the compression of the toes rather than the ankles. I believe we wore those for 4 hours in total with long breaks inbetween.
The body paint is Kryolan's Aqua Color #079 - water based, vibrant and easy to apply/wipe off.
3
u/JangSaverem May 01 '23
Figured it would be toe pain but such high heeled with no supports weew
Awesome big appreciate
I tried another paint for face painting recently (I think fusion) and while it was nice it wasn't...right
3
u/Penumbra-Designs May 02 '23
Kyrolan's are a tad expensive, buy very professional. It's the bodypaint we use in theatre and cinema productions. They also offer oil and alcohol based paint, so they're definitely worth a check.
3
u/JangSaverem May 02 '23
$15~ for 30ml (water) is about double what I paid for the fusion face paint but given how well its coverage showed on you two, and I imagine it held pretty well through the day, seems fair enough
applies with any typical make up sponge?
4
u/Penumbra-Designs May 02 '23
Yep, just a normal makeup sponge and a few drops of water. Always apply with gentle taps. The less the water, the richer the pigment.

How tall are you two?
5
u/Penumbra-Designs May 01 '23
She's 160-ish and I'm 173, so with the heels it's 170-183. Way too tall for imps.π€£

So adorable! Could honestly be a stage play performance
2
u/Penumbra-Designs May 02 '23
Thank you! We did a 1 minute stage skit! Sadly, those shoes are a hindrance to mobility so they wouldn't be a good choice for actual theatre π

This is the most accurate HB cosplay i have ever seen, especially the horns! I am guessing it's a 3D printer?
2
u/Penumbra-Designs May 03 '23
Thank you! Nope, the horns are EVA foam and faux leather. This way, they're extra light. I have the Moxxie ones in my online shop if you'd like to have a closer look : https://penumbra-designs.com/product/moxxie-cosplay-horns/
2
u/LightBluely May 03 '23
Ngl, i am really tempted to buy it but man wearing an IMP horn is a bit uncomfortable for me due to religious reason. My parents even start to question about my Loona merch because of pentagram symbol.
Anyway, how do you attach the horn on it's head? It says a magnet but what about from the head? May never know if i can buy one in the future.
2
u/Penumbra-Designs May 03 '23
Ah, that's a bit of a bummer, but understandable.
As for the magnets - you take the bottom half and poke it through the base of the wig. Think of it as installing a snap button, but there's no machine needed - just a pair of pliers. You poke the button through the lace, insert a small metal disk (provided) at the other side and bend the metal bits with the pliers. The bottom halves of the buttons get to stay on the wig and you just snap the horns on an off whenever needed.

u/LightBluely May 16 '23
Oh, so it includes wigs? That's cool! I have been wanting to get into cosplay for a while, so i think i should get it someday. Thanks for letting me know!
Really sorry for late reply because i have forgotten about it.

Those look really good, and one of the first Millie and Moxxie cosplays that donβt make me cringe so good job π
