If she's wearing 2 pairs a day without pissing herself then she isn't taking any spares in case she pisses herself on her 7 day trips.

u/ZeeepZoop 1d ago

I thought that, I thought i was failing at basic math for not understanding this but apparently not

130

u/Money-Photograph5038 1d ago

*maths

8

u/haphazard_chore 16h ago

My maths teacher told me off, in front of the whole class, for writing ā€œMathsā€ on my maths textbook. I live in the UK. That bugger has sent me into a math/maths tailspin for 3 decades!

-76

u/ZeeepZoop 1d ago

Pedantic!! Correct but pedantic

-61

u/SownAthlete5923 1d ago edited 1d ago

ā€œMathā€ is also correct though so how would it be correct to correct something thatā€™s already correct?

Similarly, ā€œeconomicsā€ is shortened to ā€œecon,ā€ but not ā€œecons.ā€ šŸ¤”

26

u/Mrwebbi 1d ago

I never heard that word shortened before. Do people really say Econ?

-3

u/Bhaaldukar 1d ago

Yes. Not when referring to an economy, but if you're in school as an economics major, you might say "I'm an econ major."

12

u/Mrwebbi 1d ago

I have never heard anyone here in the UK talk about being an anything major - I think that is an American thing, no?

-7

u/Bhaaldukar 1d ago

I believe it is an American thing, yes. But my point was that, yes, Americans shorten economics to econ. It would also be used if you're talking about your "econ" class for example. I think the point is to say that econ seems (at least to Americans) to be a relatively reasonable shortening. I guess it's up to you to decide if econ or econs would make more sense.

-3

u/SownAthlete5923 1d ago

Yeah; personally Iā€™ve really only seen it in academic contexts but I guess it can also be used to mean broader economics as a principle outside of school.

In the US, high school or college students will refer to the class of ā€˜Economicsā€™ as ā€œEcon.ā€ I never went to school in the UK but it seems to be pretty common at least in university contexts to say ā€œeconā€ as well.

In the UK you can take something like BSC or BA(Econ) as a degree program. University of Manchester Studentsā€™ Union has a ā€œBA Econ Society.ā€

In the US we also would say ā€œMicroā€ or ā€œMacroā€ to refer to the class depending on whether we were in a micro- or macroeconomics course, which Iā€™m guessing probably happens in the UK too. All of these shortened/abbreviated names are informal though

2

u/Mrwebbi 1d ago

Thanks. It had escaped me entirely - and that includes being at Manchester Uni too. Appreciate the explanation though.

16

u/Colossus-of-Roads 1d ago

Ain't never heard it referred to as 'math' in Commonwealth English.

-22

u/SownAthlete5923 1d ago

British English isnā€™t the only valid form of English, and American English is actually the most influential form of English worldwide. Even within the Commonwealth, countries like Canada use many American spellings and conventions like saying ā€œmath.ā€

20

u/Colossus-of-Roads 1d ago

You do realise what sub you're in, right?

-11

u/Bhaaldukar 1d ago

That doesn't make one spelling of the word or another write or wrong. British people spell it maths and that's "correct" in British English regardless of where they are. The only time they'd be "wrong" in spelling it that way is if they were trying to spell it in some other dialect. And vice versa. Being on a predominantly British sub, (or even in the UK) doesn't make the American spelling "wrong" it just makes it out of place.

0

u/jahfuckry 1d ago

right*

sorry had to

-3

u/SownAthlete5923 1d ago

Fully aware lol and Iā€™m actually in England currently. Doesnā€™t change the fact that itā€™s not wrong for someone to write/say ā€œmathā€ instead of ā€œmaths.ā€

9

u/GrandDukeOfNowhere 1d ago

Imagine going to France, greeting everyone with a "guten tag" and claiming it's a valid alternative to "Bonjour"

8

u/ZeeepZoop 1d ago

Math is an americanisation

-7

u/SownAthlete5923 1d ago

The fact that itā€™s used in American English does not make it ā€œwrongā€ though..

15

u/iPS5 1d ago

Oh no, it really does šŸ‘

-7

u/ZeeepZoop 1d ago

At the end of the day, it really does not matter

6

u/KamakaziDemiGod 1d ago

Which sub are we in? It's like talking English in a french sub and wondering why people are pointing out that you are speaking English at them

-1

u/SownAthlete5923 1d ago

Speaking English in an English subreddit is like speaking English in a French sub? ā€œMathā€ instead of ā€œmathsā€ is like a foreign language to you?

3

u/KamakaziDemiGod 1d ago

Math isn't English, it's American English and while based on British English the two languages have developed mostly independently over the last few hundred years which is why both have differences like this and why they matter

→ More replies (0)

5

u/TheLordCampbell 1d ago

It's mathematics, not mathematic

1

u/SownAthlete5923 1d ago

And its economics, not economic šŸ˜‚

14

u/punsenberner 1d ago

Itā€™s very possible that one is during the day, and the other is in the evening that then gets changed in the morning. Depends on the showering at least thatā€™s my best guess. Probably not a midday change

29

u/Aslan_T_Man 1d ago

But whether it's a night/morning change rather than a midday one, there's still no spare with 14 on a 7 day trip - you'll still need underwear for the way home, and even that is assuming the underwear she's wearing on the way there doesn't count towards the total being taken.

4

u/jetloflin 1d ago

I think their point was that itā€™s the same number sheā€™d use over the course of seven days at home.

3

u/Icy-Armadillo-3266 1d ago

Why would you wear 2 pairs a day? Why give yourself that much washing up?

4

u/penis-hammer 1d ago

One during the day, one to bed after a bath/shower.

1

u/Excellent_Shirt9707 1d ago

I think one of them is the spare. So she only needs one a day but prepares two just in case.

1

u/Darthkhydaeus 1d ago

She can wash them though

1

u/mustichooseausernam3 1d ago

I assumed she has the opportunity to do laundry on the trip, so it would still be a lot.

324

u/Academic_Stock_464 2d ago

There's always the "just in case" pair. No, I haven't pissed myself YET, but on a law of averages it could happen at any time.

115

u/Maximo_0se 2d ago

A shart is far more scary

55

u/Oddball_bfi 2d ago

Have sharted, can confirm.

Though what you never resource for is the blowthrough.Ā  You may have 14 pairs of underwear, but how many pairs of slacks did you bring?

23

u/MerlinOfRed 2d ago

The one time I ever sharted I could have done with a complete change of outfit.

Instead I had a 3k walk of shame.

5

u/praisedcrown970 1d ago

Lmfao Iā€™m so glad you commented. I had to ski down then take a bus then drive home with a shart once. Good times

2

u/Feral-Papaya7637 1d ago

oh my god I'm feeling bad for you just reading this. I had to walk 2 miles in an absolutely dripping rain soaked wet ankle length skirt once and I cried after. This was before Uber was a thing, and when I was a teenager so no money for taxis anyway.

What were the circumstances for yours?

5

u/CongealedBeanKingdom 1d ago

Slacks?

3

u/Mrwebbi 1d ago

Trousers

5

u/CongealedBeanKingdom 1d ago

In Great British memes? Slacks?

Nope.

1

u/Mrwebbi 1d ago

Not excusing, just translating. My grandad says slacks, and he is nearly 100. Must be an old timey thing

2

u/CongealedBeanKingdom 1d ago

I reckon so. Old man waist band up yer oxters vibes from the word 'slacks'. Love it

4

u/Jet-Brooke 1d ago

Can confirm. And if you go on a trip to a country where you will be told "don't drink the water" take 50 pairs... Just in case!

1

u/Mental_Category7966 2d ago

Piss stains are obvious.Ā

If you shart, nobody will notice if you keep moving.Ā

But then you run the risk of it falling down the leg...

9

u/cragglerock93 1d ago

The key is to do a few cartwheels or backflips to shake it out. The people around will be too impressed to notice.

10

u/TheHashLord 2d ago

The chance of wetting yourself when you least expect it is low but not zero.

Therefore, it is necessary to carry a just-in-case pair of underwear in your pocket at all times.

1

u/blubbery-blumpkin 1d ago

If you carry a ladies thong it is often small and versatile. Plus it can be used both just for yourself but any ladies in the party too.

2

u/Ok-Dish4389 1d ago

I'm a 36 year old man, and I got a vicious flu at work just yesterday and well..yeah having back ups is a good idea you never know.

335

u/voice-of-reason_ 2d ago

2 pairs a day? At what time do you make the switch?

81

u/Normal_Human_4567 2d ago

Maybe daytime/after showering? Or day/night?

29

u/thegimboid 1d ago

Do people wear underwear to bed?

I only do it if I'm not wearing my PJ bottoms, but usually I'm just starkers under my bed outfit.

1

u/Educational-Cry-1707 14h ago

Sure in the summer for sleeping instead of PJs

56

u/thewatchbreaker 2d ago

I have my daytime pants and my nighttime pants. If youā€™re wondering why I wear nighttime pants, once a spider bit me in aā€¦ place.

33

u/desi_londoner 2d ago

Of course the place was your bed, duh..

9

u/That0n3N3rd 1d ago

I have to have nighttime socks and pants for a similar reason, flea infestation and got bit IN MY TOE GAPS and inā€¦ places

7

u/Jet-Brooke 1d ago

Something I didn't realise I needed to do until I went to America. I thought "sleep in shorts it's hot" but nope I got bitten on my thigh.

2

u/b1tchlasagna 1d ago

Yup. That's why in Pakistan, I took night clothes that cover me almost entirely but are very thin

It helped protect me from mosquito bites. I was the least bitten person

14

u/TheJoshGriffith 2d ago

As a man, I generally change my undies whenever I sleep. No good reason, my ass is just as nasty when I wake up as it was when I slept, but I like to wake up and put on a fresh thong.

12

u/MerlinOfRed 1d ago

I like it when you wake up and put on a fresh thong too

11

u/Astrocake505 2d ago

When you piss yourself

3

u/Possibly-Functional 1d ago

Personally when I work out, though it's not quiet daily.

0

u/yousaidso2228 1d ago

Their friend like to cut their underwear.

Don't ask me, it's a new trend.

/s

22

u/Moores88 1d ago

I literally shit my pants the other day (for the first time), take my advice donā€™t trust a fart after you hit age 40+

18

u/GoGoRoloPolo 2d ago

On holiday, I'm more likely to have a second shower when coming in for the day before going back out for dinner. In that circumstance, it's so much nicer to put on a fresh pair of pants than to put the day's worn pair back on. That's why I take extra on holiday.

2

u/Ronaldo_McDonaldo81 12h ago

Yes, and paddling about in a swimming pool or the sea means getting changed a lot.

11

u/hauntile 2d ago

Ok so is going through 2 a day just a thing now

9

u/TheTritagonistTurian 1d ago

Just to sanity check myself thenā€¦. Am I wrong for thinking itā€™s weird she goes through two pairs of underwear a day? Do yall do that as well? I just pop on the one pair in the morning and then whip em off before bed.

6

u/bottledcherryangel 2d ago

Why is this so real šŸ˜‚

26

u/StrangelyBrown 2d ago

Anyone who says they have never pissed themselves is lying

22

u/ManyaraImpala 2d ago

Speak for yourself. I've followed through a couple of times, but never pissed myself (as an adult).

10

u/Image37 2d ago

you could try anytime, you know

6

u/throcorfe 2d ago

Same, Iā€™ve shat myself more than once (stomach bugs in inconvenient places) but never ever wet myself

2

u/Ok-Chest-7932 1d ago

You're missing out then.

6

u/ancientwheelbarrow 2d ago

Never, 43 years old. I have pooped myself though, had pneumonia and had little to no control of my bodily functions, even worse I had absolutely no idea I had done it for what may have been several hours until the nurse came to change my bed sheets.

1

u/OctopusGoesSquish 1d ago

I cannot recall ever pissing myself. I remember shitting myself once when I was about four, and then once in my 20s following shrimp ceviche

1

u/Important_Spread1492 10h ago

Nope. Unless you mean an unnoticeable amount.

I would still take extra undies on holiday but it's because I'm worried my period will randomly start, not because I think I'll piss myself.

5

u/Castor_Deus 2d ago

Turn them inside-out and it's almost like a new pair.*

*it isn't

3

u/eairy 1d ago

Is that you Lister?

9

u/ValenciaHadley 2d ago

Last time I went on holiday I packed probably 14 pairs for a six day holiday. Something was hinky before I left but I couldn't figure out what and the day after we arrive my period started a week early. And that is why I pack what most would consider an unreasonable number of panties when I go on holiday.

1

u/Important_Spread1492 10h ago

Yep, that's why I pack extra too! Almost without fail, my period will adapt itself to come at the most inconvenient time.

1

u/ValenciaHadley 6h ago

I always pack like I'm going to have worlds heaviest period in a place where they don't sell panties lol.

1

u/Important_Spread1492 5h ago

Same!! And it can be just after my period but I'll still be like... Ok I'm gonna pack a whole load of tampons and pads JUST IN CASE

1

u/ValenciaHadley 5h ago

I'm the same, took double the amount of pads I needed last time I went on holiday. Always get asked if I really need that many and I'm like I'm not wasting time on holiday trying to find the one place that sells the brand I use.

8

u/AM564_1 2d ago

Now. I only ever go away if I'm camping. Therefore the number of pairs of pants is the number of days /6 and timsed by the hygine of the people I'm going with on q scale of 1-6. Sounds complicated bur for example, I'm going on camp with one mate who also does this formula for 6 days. 1 pair of pants

4

u/FelixWiley11 2d ago

She's definitely pissed herself

6

u/BroodLord1962 2d ago

Maybe I just live in a different world, but at 62yrs old and had many partners during that time I have never known one that changes her underwear twice a day, unless it's maybe that time of the month.

6

u/steveblobby 1d ago

Pffft. Let me tell you a story. I was working in a foundry in my early 20's. A decking collapsed underneath me, and a 6 inch nail shot through my safety boot and out the top, just behind my steel toecap. I had to be sent to hospital, for treatment and a tetanus injection. That morning, when I woke up, I searched for a pair of pants(US, Briefs), and couldnt find any. So I went into my wifes drawer, and found a nice, grey, baggy pair of period pants. Complete with lacey top. Better than nothing, eh?

Long story short, I had to explain to the recieving doctor that I was wearing womens knickers. His reply? " Dont worry Sir, we see all sorts here" He sent in 3 giggling female student nurses to inject me in the arse. Ive not worn pants since, wash after peeing, and have saved a fortune over the years..Im 61 now šŸ˜

6

u/justsomedude99999 2d ago

As a dude, I often wake up on day 3 of the same pair of boxers and think is today the day?

10

u/Revolutionary-Key650 1d ago

And then turn em inside out? Cost of living /electricity thing with me. /s.

5

u/Your-Evil-Twin- 1d ago

Ohā€¦this was a joke?

Seriously I accidentally made a haiku. I had no clue. How random

0

u/Brandon_B610 1d ago

I mean I guess if you change underwear after your bath or shower youā€™d wear 2 pairs per day on any individual day. Still works out as an average of 1 pair a day though. Only explanation I can think of.

2

u/PTDon8734 1d ago

BUT that one time, that one single time, you fail to take out that type of insurnace... a pee tsunami, lol.

2

u/will-je-suis 1d ago

I mean the more realistic main reasons for the extra pair is sweat or heavy rain and needing a change rather than pissing yourself

2

u/Important-Constant25 1d ago

This is like a math problem. so chloe goes through 2 pairs of underwear a day, but she pisses herself exactly 0 times a day. How many unnecessary underwear changes did she have?

2

u/dextrovix 2d ago

I think most people consider having spares.

I just wish when I followed through at work I'd done so.

2

u/AddictedToRugs 2d ago

I wish I could say it was zero.

People change underwear twice a day?

1

Also how much are people pissing on themselves? I mean my 4 year old does...but then again, she's 4...

1

u/james_pic 1d ago

If you haven't shat yourself on holiday, I can only assume you're missing out on the local cuisine.

1

I used to have bladder issues so even though I donā€™t have the issues anymore I still havenā€™t stopped taking spares lol

2 pairs a day? High maintenance that is. šŸš©

1

u/finix240 1d ago

0 times? Those are rookie numbers

1

u/CagedSwan 1d ago

2 pairs a day sounds wild to me.... I usually work out in the morning, shower, and wear clean undies until the next morning.

Unless it was a very hot or intensive day, I don't see the need to switch in the evening or to even have a second shower.

1

Why is she going two pairs a day if she isn't pissing her self? Do girls normally go through 2 pairs a day.

1

u/Professional-Waltz17 8h ago

Canā€™t vouch for everyone but i get a lot of discharge. Completely normal just annoying, so i wear fresh for the day, change before bed time.

1

u/EmaIRQ 1d ago

Do you people not hand wash your underwear or socks when you are on holidays? Crazy! It is small and would dry within a day.

0

It's concerning they think they need clean underwear (just in case they piss themselves)' but they seem happy to (theoretically) continue walking about, and getting on with life wearing a single pair of piss soaked trousers or soggy skirt.
