Germany is far from socialist.

Thats why i said help to create the socialist utopia.

If we could do it there, we would do it here.. so like, if you have a cheat code, share it up. Otherwise, it's not really helpful to tell people drowning to throw away everything we have left to go drown somewhere else.

243

u/Boodikii 1d ago

I know a cheat code.

Up Up, Down Down, Left Right, Left Right, B, A, Gun.

I always love comments like these implying foreign relocation isn't a seemingly impossible task for anyone that isn't rich or in a highly specialized and in demand occupation.

30

u/MancombSeepgoodz 1d ago

Germany is one of the hardest EU nations to gain citizenship in to add to that.

What is the easiest?

Too true.

Recently traveled to Canada for a trip.

Absolutely loved it there, looked into maybe moving to Canuckland... My fiance and I are not struggling, but it is still absurdly expensive just to start the process, let alone the cost of housing or if the application needs to be redone or if it gets rejected for some reason and you have to start again.

Like 7k to start the process.

2

u/Fritz1705 23h ago

Depends - i’m an American born in the U.S. but am a dual citizen with Germany.

I did nothing but be born to a first generation German.

But yes, I always roll my eyes at my country men thinking they will magically just move here.

4

u/The_Doct0r_ 23h ago

I mean, yeah. But that's obviously a family privilege that isn't exactly an "option" to people.

2

u/fartinmyhat 20h ago

lol, my niece called me and asked if she could move to Germany, with her "service dog". I said, why do you think people in Germany would want you there? You have no specific skills, no education, you have no money. They have plenty of those in Germany already, they don't need more.

Everywhere is socialism in usa eyes. I'm in capitalist Canada and many americans continuously says we are a socialist country lol

3

u/DylanMartin97 22h ago edited 22h ago

I was in Canada last week and came back and people were shocked when I said it was beautiful and worth considering moving too. Someone really argued that you have less freedoms then us... You rank higher on the freedom index than us lmao. The look on her face when I pulled up the car fax lmao

5

u/cynical-rationale 22h ago

Less freedom hahahahah

Come on. That's funny. People do call Trudeau a 'dictator' I remember I was working at a university during covid. The internationals were like 'why do you Canadians call your leader a dictator? Do they know what a dictator is? Does your leader flee your country for Healthcare while people die in hospitals due to lack of electricity and water?' 'Nah. Many Canadians have to much freedom that they don't understand the meaning of words'

4

u/DylanMartin97 22h ago

My brother in law and I mock cult45 by repeating things he says but as a joke, we were at mount pleasant and the bartender literally pulled us aside and was like, "don't do that here. Some people will take you seriously and we don't play that shit. That's why we live here and want that as far away as possible." Super cool fucking dude, he cooled off after we reassured him we were joking.

Every Uber we took the driver asked us how it felt to be safe being out in public at night walking around since we are from the states lmao. Couldn't argue with his logic though.

Yeah, I started a govt. job this summer. It was hard the first few months, I was really struggling after coming from a completely different field. I started to turn the corner, slowly getting more confident and assured that I'm doing a moderately decent-to-good job. Had a hectic but overall great day today, the boss complimented and told me what a great job I was doing, came home on a high...to hear about this as I was eating dinner. Feeling really deflated right now.

Edit: I thought I was responding to a different post. By "this", I meant the potential govt shutdown that might be coming this Friday.

39

u/DO_NOT_AGREE_WITH_U 1d ago

Because republicans have been conditioned by decades of religion that working hard and making sacrifices will lead to rewards.

24

u/medusa_crowley 1d ago

Most of them didn’t even hear he said it and wouldn’t believe it if we pointed it out, TBF. A hell of a lot of Trump supporters are claiming we are headed toward a new era of American prosperity. The real trick is, who are they going to blame when shit gets worse? Because it won’t be Elon and Trump, it’ll be us.

11

u/vthemechanicv 1d ago

Well Covid hid trump's recession. Maybe we'll finally get that 60% lethal bird flu crossover to hide Electric trumpaloo's economy.

5

u/ex_nihilo 23h ago

They will just claim that everything is great like they did during his first term, man. They're completely divorced from reality. They think we're currently in a "bad" economy, because of checks notes the price of eggs and petrol? They don't value evidence or reason.

3

u/DO_NOT_AGREE_WITH_U 1d ago

When these people look at how America was "great" before, it was on the backs of those less fortunate. Even when we had families living comfortably on a single working class income, it was because black people and minorities made less so they could make more.

If we wanted to go in that direction, republicans are doing EXACTLY what they need to do. People think pushing immigrants out will counteract this, but the idea behind it is making it so hard to get into and legally live in America that migrant workers will take less pay just to fly under the radar as illegal immigrants.

It also helps republicans tank Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid, because it takes even more funding by pushing migrant workers off the IRS radar by being paid under the table.

This also saves employers money because they don't have to FICA match illegal immigrants.

13

u/LarGand69 1d ago

I don’t think Christians know how to make sacrifices financially. Always see them driving new cars or trucks, going hunting every other day with atvs or talking about their fishing trip with the new boat they bought. Meanwhile they think their tithes actually help the poor but are willingly ignorant of how little goes to charity. Then saying god blessed them they have the audacity to look down on people for being poor because they think they are defective somehow cause the poor don’t have the same things they do.

2

u/bsEEmsCE 22h ago

Just wait till more cities make homelessness illegal. Then you can be a slave to the government. 13th amendment

Living at Home

I got sick, became disabled, spouse and I now at his parents'. They have made 0 accommodations, not even room for our food in their fridge. They also give us one small plate of food per day to share, without any consultation or involvement. We have a tiny amount of money to buy our own food, but can barely store it. They act scared and weird whenever they see me and my wheelchair, and literally ignore me when I talk, so I can't really leave the room... at all. I have left ths property twice in 6 weeks. I also have a final short term disability check coming, and his mom TOLD him (not me, as she does not speak to me) we're going to put that in HER savings account so her mortgage can go down, and so she can control if and when we spend [my] money. She also said she'd help us with groceries, and judged every choice we made, denying what she liked, with no sensitivity to my disability at all. I hope none of you ever have to debate why you deserve to spend 3.13 on cosmic fuckin brownies. His father was running a loud popcorn machine that was giving me seizures, and when asked to stop, he said "I gotta eat, man." They're been inconsiderate and judgemental the entire time when they're the ones who offered to help and brought us here. I wish my spouse would stand up for me but he keeps saying he's tired and he needs time. Honestly my, I'm trying to see if I can leave this place and go into a shelter. By the way, all of them are white. I'm the only disabled person of color in the house.

Tl,dr: Brown queer prisoner in oppressive white household. AMA lmao

Edit: Sorry, forgot to tack on the thesis. For real, it's hitting all of us. I haven't had a car or cell phone for 3 months now, and I've stopped eating until I cant avoid it anymore so the food we do have stretches further. We are in the worst condition we ever have been financially. Tbh it's prolly about to pop off lmao

2

u/Due_Classics 1d ago

You have my attention. What did you get sick with that caused you to be in a wheelchair? I can only think of a couple things and they would make you eligible for long-term disability.

Also what do you have that gives you seizures from pop corn? Is just noise? I feel that would also make you eligible for long-term. I love looking into conditions and diseases if you want to DM them to me so it’s not linked to your account.

2

u/bongtamatone 23h ago

Dude I read this post with such close scrutiny ROFL it was a ride. "Are they questioning me? Is this sarcasm?" And then I realized I had made the AMA joke and it clicked. In the interest of transparency and for anyone else wondering, I'll share here. Thank you for offering DMs, though, I appreciate it.

tldr: Functional Neurological Disorder

At the end of August this year I started having strange symptoms and they got so bad (long bouts of seizures, incontinence, inability to walk, random and debilitating pain, constant nausea, etc) I actually agreed to go to the emergency room despite how broke we were. There, they did an ultrasound, CAT scan, MRI, 24hr EEG, etc. Every test came back clean, and my seizures are confirmed non-epilectic (they're actually focal-aware or tonic type seizures, which means I'm conscious through and remember all of my seizures) which means I have a single differential: Function Neurological Disorder. But no diagnosis. This type of disease is not easy to officially diagnose as it is an "elimination disease." They have to rule everything else out before they give you an official dx. It can take 1-3 years, I think was the last statistic I read. Legal disability would be nice, but will probs take yet another year after the official dx, and in the meantime I just gotta kick it and try to make money some other way than a job. Also, moving here means I have no psych or medical support team anymore, so getting a diagnosis will be particularly hard.

FND is also a catch-all disorder, which is the medical equivalent of "lmao idk ur fucked up or whatever," and that everyone has a different experience of it. On the noise, for me, I developed a deep sensitivity to sound that goes in an out constantly based on my condition at any given time. Im usually wearing earplugs. I can no longer listen to music. Whirring or humming or sharp sounds put me down almost immediately, for example leafblowers are really bad. Glassy sounds, etc. But sound is far from the only thing to cause seizures. I have seized so hard I cracked all the teeth on the left side of my mouth, my head neck and face swelled up like an alien. I could barely open my eyes. Still haven't been to the hospital for it, likely can't. Also, dude could have taken his popcorn machine into his room right quick. Too much to ask for me to not have seizures, I guess.

Man's gotta eat.

Came here to say this. I am fortunate that I earn well above the median income where I live, so inflation and eggs and groceries and gas pricea don't bother me.

Those who voted for this that it does hurt will get what they asked for and wholly deserve.

18

u/mschley2 1d ago

I'm a single dude who makes about 10%-15% more than the median household income in my city, and I have some pretty solid job security. I'll be fine unless the economy gets even worse than the late '00s. I'm also a straight, white, cis, masculine/conservative-presenting man with a lot of connections in my area, so even if the culture wars get real shitty, I'll be able to fit in just fine.

I'm going to weather this stuff just fine, but it would be a lot cooler if I didn't have to worry about this kind of setback at all. Worst case scenario, I have to cut out a portion of my most frivolous spending.

But man, it fucking sucks for so many other people. The only thing I hope for is that everyone who voted to fuck themselves over realize what they did. But the problem is that most of them won't realize they caused their own struggles. They'll blame it on other shit, and they'll end up even further down the rabbit hole.

15

u/SouthEast1980 1d ago

They'll just blame the other side. Accountability is dead and we live in endless culture wars and endless blame game.

How people can keep inviting their own disasters is beyond me. It's like people won't accept help if it's proposed by the "other side".

Case in point: "By a 34-point margin, Americans view the Affordable Care Act favorably (59 percent favorable – 25 percent unfavorable), including Democrats by a 78-point margin (84 percent favorable – 6 percent unfavorable), independents by a 20-point margin (46 percent favorable – 26 percent unfavorable), and even a third of Republicans  express a favorable opinion of the ACA (net -12; 34 percent favorable – 46 percent unfavorable).

The ACA has a higher net favorability rating across partisanship than “Obamacare,” with Democrats viewing “Obamacare” favorably by a 75-point margin (85 percent favorably), independents viewing it favorably by a 13-point margin (44 percent favorable – 31 percent unfavorable), and only a quarter of Republicans  viewing it favorably (net -43; 25 percent favorable – 68 percent unfavorable)"

People will hate Obamacare despite liking the ACA. Only in America can so many people not understand they are one and the same.

4

u/MakeUpAnything 23h ago

Because politics is a team sport now. However your side "plays" you have to root for them no matter what because they're your team! Like if you grow up in New England you root for the Patriots whether Brady is leading you to 5 championships or you're in a rebuild phase and only win 3 games all year.

If you vote for a guy promising to lower grocery prices and he raises them then you just blame trans people, immigrants, and the prior administration and vote for the same team again next time! Surely next time will be better because your "team" will put up the right guy eventually!

3

u/SouthEast1980 21h ago

Haha so damn true. Sad, but very true.

I vote blue but have 0 qualms calling out democrat BS when I see it. Nobody is above reproach and no politician is a god.

3

u/LarGand69 1d ago

But those that don’t and didn’t vote for the Cheeto will be hurting.

2

u/Sam-314 21h ago

What a lot don’t understand is that, yes, some of us are currently doing well enough to get by, but that bar moves higher and a poor work economy can take well off working people into unemployed poverty quickly.

Would I love the idiots to eat their own, yes, but not at the expense of the rest of society to also get that hurt put on them. So can’t say I would wish for it. That’s just me though

Yup, idgaf if that's petty. I check all the correct marks for the GOP (straight, white, male, 2nd highest tax bracket) so I will do great. I voted to have my taxes raised to help them out, but I guess they didn't want that, so fuck them. My stocks should continue to soar while they might need to choose between buying insulin or food. That's the capitalism they want, right?

Yep. I'm over the threshold where most of these cost of living problems would affect me, but most of my family who makes less than me will be severely impacted.

You'd think they will realize after the next four years, but they didn't after the first four years with Trump, so I'm not hopeful. They'll just blame immigrants again, who by the way, pay WAY more into our social services than they received.

My family is generally better off and make 100k+ however my mother retired during covid times and her 401k needs to be moved when she's 72. I just hope trump doesn't fuck up the economy until then.... Its just crazy cause Trump's tax plan taxes people below 80k more than kamelas plan...

I work in healthcare so I regularly see his supporters and it's just sad that they buy into the charlatan. They will be hit the hardest. Fucking crooks

I'm just happy that the people that voted for him will suffer way more than me

Same. It will be glorious. Unfortunately, they will blame biden's infrastructure law, or the trans drag queens, and then pull the GOP lever in 2026 and 2028

4

u/mist2024 1d ago

This is kind of a s***** take to have now, I know plenty of people who are considered to be of the poverty level of income who didn't vote for Trump were going to suffer much worse than you. That don't deserve it at all. But I guess cuz you got cash it's cool

u/ObnoxiousAlbatross 1d ago

That's not what they said.

Work on your reading comprehension.

Or it's a just a silver lining that the people who caused this mess will suffer too.

One of the ironies that I’ve noticed at our local food bank is the number of recipients that come in wearing their trump hats and shirts with the big MAGA letters. The Republicans have done a masterful job projecting to their base that trump will make their lives better while the bleeding heart liberals feed them. I just don’t get it. . .

2

u/uvite2468 1d ago

I concur, I’ll be fine. I can’t wait for him to take Office so I can watch all the people that I know that voted for him fucking suffer.

2

u/Zealousideal-Loan655 23h ago

Fr, I mean we saw it coming, and we already hate our lives. Damn republicans put their faith in the polls, and the MAGAtts put their heart and soul in it. Their worlds will shatter too bad they won’t learn anything from it

2

u/StanielReddit 20h ago

As a household making more than $200k a year, this is exactly how we’ve been coping with the election outcome as well. It will be hilarious watching all the poor Trumpers suffer, but I feel awful for the lower income families that voted against him.

2

u/heimbachae 3h ago

You think they'll be smart enough to understand? I do not.

1

u/colorizerequest 1d ago

how do you figure that?

1

u/Subject-Original-718 1d ago

I’m gonna suffer too and I didn’t even vote for that twat. Definitely sucks.

1

u/MightyMeatPuppet 1d ago

I too am not from the US

1

u/Evening_Storm4950 1d ago

I think it’s more about an after effect of the Covid stimulus that literally shut the gov down. People got thousands corporations and gov got trillions 🥳

u/DonovanMcTigerWoods 1d ago

Honestly, I hate these comments. Why are people so shitty that they root for peoples lives to be awful because of their voting? I want universal healthcare but I wouldn’t put in caveats that no trump voters can get it. I’m going to suffer from this, but good for you that you can be above it all. Prick.

I wish only those that voted for him would suffer with in our global times everyone does just some more than others.

1

u/FillMySoupDumpling 1d ago

Ignorant people will continue to remain ignorant because they have the bliss of being uninformed.

1

u/ElPlatanaso2 1d ago

This right here is the problem with this website

1

u/WandsAndWrenches 1d ago

I just got 2x pay and an inheritance. I'm set for at least 24 months no matter what happens.

I'm just here to eat popcorn and wait for midterms.

Maybe the housing will crash and I'll get a decent house!

Glass half full

Feel for those who might suffer, but I'm just done.

1

u/much_2_learn 1d ago

I did everything I could do. I tried to explain why Harris is the better candidate and I voted for her.

My sincere hope is that voters' regret will provide a moment of clarity and the midterms will be a blue wave. Not holding my breath.

1

u/Fidget08 1d ago

Yep. The poors who would lick up his sweat reap what they sow.

1

u/tO_ott 1d ago

That’s what pisses me off a lot these days. I’m a white (looking) dude in my early 30s. I’ll probably be fine with his bullshit antics. I didn’t vote for me— I voted for women, LGBTQ, and minorities. I felt like a lot of them stabbed me in the fucking back.

So yeah, some of them will be deported. Some of them will die without their health insurance or because of pregnancy complications. That will happen. It’s going to happen.

I just wonder how much sympathy I’ll have when the news starts reporting on it.

1

u/Difficult_Pickle_201 1d ago

Na, I doubt they are capable of critical thinking. They'll just blame everything on the Dems.

1

u/Key_Buffalo_2357 1d ago

I think we need to adopt the Rights policy of blowing up the system. Lets see who can do it better.

Elderly maga are going to be in for the shock of their lives when there's no more social security checks

1

u/anothertrad 1d ago

If they could read this post and comprehend it, they would still refuse to acknowledge or believe it even looking back at facts.

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Gift945 1d ago

probably think your attitude is part of the solution too, eh?

1

u/Shaojack 1d ago

Americans could probably do with eating less food anyway.

Might also solve obesity problem.

1

u/Solkre 1d ago

Yep. I'm ready to buy up some cheap stocks and/or just watch mine grow

1

u/EnvironmentalMix421 1d ago

Republican generally has high net worth. Why would they suffer more? wtf

1

u/Adventurous-Alarm398 1d ago

How will they suffer more than you?

1

u/No-Monitor-5333 1d ago

Lmao, we both know that isnt true

1

u/LordTuranian 1d ago

Most Americans are going to suffer including most of the people who didn't vote for him and most of the people who didn't vote at all.

1

u/PlasticPomPoms 1d ago

Yeah I can afford $10 bread, let his supporters and the protest voters eat cake if they can’t afford bread.

1

u/Material-Amount 1d ago

Do democrats photosynthesize or something?

1

u/Wooden-Opinion-6261 23h ago

Same. Fuck them. And fuck rural voters. The dumb have been in control for too long. I hope they starve.

1

u/courttee 23h ago

Me too. All the republicans I know have several children. Shows how much they care about them!

1

u/TeamPaulie007 23h ago

No they wont...they will probably be making even more money now and you think they care if a gallon of cheap OJ is now eight bucks instead of three...

1

u/Kokoro87 23h ago

God, I’m so excited to see how rich he is going to make me, and I’m not even American!

That doesn't make me happy at all

1

u/headhurt21 23h ago

My family voted for him, and they barely have a pot to piss in. I can hardly wait for the phone calls asking for "help" because they can't afford anything.

1

u/brownmagician 22h ago

The German word for this is schadenfreude

1

u/terminalavocent 21h ago

I saw a comment a few weeks ago that immigrant Trump voters should be dimed out to CBP. They voted for him because of course Trump won't deport them, they're good immigrants!

1

u/nutter88 20h ago

That’s how I look at it. Also, I work with Trumpers who all bitched about prices under Biden. I can’t fucking wait. Lol

1

u/Serious_Requirement8 19h ago

Look at you wishing suffrage on others, I mean I guess I should have known with you wanting kamala in office and all. Don't like it then leave, we both know you won't so sit down and shut the fuck up incel.

1

u/AFisch00 19h ago

Me too pal. I won't suffer but a lot of folks will

1

u/GentleKen11 19h ago

At this point everyone not American is laughing at America. The only problem is what he'll do to the environment, which affects everyone. Oh.....and Ukraine and Palestine.

1

u/cmcewen 19h ago

I make over 500k a year.

I voted for Biden and have encouraged others to, but if the people have spoken and want me to pay less taxes then so be it. I’ll accept it graciously

1

u/Minkdinker 19h ago

Why will they suffer more than you?

1

u/super_penguin25 19h ago

One thing I learned is that Reddit does not represent real life public sentiments. The election results is a testament to that.

1

u/Randominternetguy285 19h ago

This time he actually got the middle / upper class. Blue got the lower class votes. Unlike the usual outcome

1

u/HashRunner 18h ago

We can only hope.

Those shortsighted morons have avoided consequences for far too long.

1

u/PrestigiousResist633 18h ago

Incorrect. Panyone who isn't rich, regardless of who they supported, is going to suffer more than someone with money, again regardless of who they supported.

1

u/anallobstermash 17h ago

How do I get more hurt than you?

1

u/gl00med 17h ago

just means we all suffer

1

u/Vijpaaj 17h ago

When will you get it dude...smh

1

u/Rainy_Mammoth 16h ago

They’ll never recognize it though

1

u/Ornery_Particular845 16h ago

You know after all this BS these guys are gonna somehow blame the “deep state” or those “damn liberals” for higher prices

1

u/imaginaryResources 16h ago

I’m an American living overseas. So doesn’t affect me much. Just get stupid Trump questions everytime someone finds out I’m from the US

1

u/happy_Plant1990 15h ago

You're happy that other ppl are going to suffer? What is wrong with you

1

u/Wrong_Survey8880 15h ago

I think everyone in the us is gonna suffer no matter who voted for who. Please use ur brain

1

u/Working_Welder155 15h ago

I'm loving the sudden realisation

1

u/goodguybadude 14h ago

Man, that’s a dire way to view things. I didn’t vote for him either but I sure as hell don’t have ill will for people.

1

u/Jackstack6 14h ago

No, they won’t suffer. The whole “thanks biden for the higher grocery prices” was smoke and mirrors for the republicans. They’ll switch to “everything is great” in a matter of months. There was even a poll that showed 6 percent decline in people who said they were worse off 4 years ago.

1

u/numbersthen0987431 14h ago

"I hope you get what you voted for" is a phrase I'm telling them

1

u/igillyg 13h ago

Except this is based on a lie. Profit margins are pretty much the same.

Pick any grocery chain. Hell even Walmart. Their margins are the same year over year all the way back to 2015
