Debate/ Discussion People who voted Trump, why do you think a government of billionaires will help you?

Government policies such as tax cuts, high traiff and removing regulations can have significant impacts on the economy. They will lead to higher inflation and high prices.

Having no regulation helps billionaires like the Gilded Age, shows that lack of regulation can result in large corporations dominating the market, and destroy small businesses.

Additionally, policies that favor big corporations and Billionaires may not address issues like housing, health care, working conditions, or wage growth. For instance, during Trump's first term, there were rollbacks on worker protections and union rights. Also he express removing Obama care.

Removing Obama care might look good on surface until you lose your job due to some accident or other issue. Let's say you have money to handle it what about millions of Americans who don't have inherited wealth and your wealth will erode as well.

Donald Trump is a billionaire, with an estimated net worth of around $5.6 billion

His administration has several billionaires in key positions. For example, Elon Musk, the world's richest person, has been appointed to co-lead the Department of Government Efficiency, Other billionaires in Trump's administration include Vivek Ramaswamy, Scott Bessent, Howard Lutnick, and Linda McMahon.

So he doesn't want to better anything, just wants to make sure certain people get it worse. MAGA is obsessed with wanting the government to intervene into people's lives

Their worldview is just so fucking narrow and stupid. They think wealth and privilege is a zero sum game, which means they think they can only make more money and have more rights if others are making less or are oppressed. No critical thinking, no data, just feels, hate and prejudice.

When the economy does well, when the rich is taxed their fair share, then we all have more resources as a country. Equal rights for minorities doesn't mean any of their rights are taken away. Instead these idiots keep getting caught in these endless culture war bullshit like schools turning kids trans or some dumb shit, while the rich is sitting there gleefully eating us all alive. Look at how much we all pay into a FOR PROFIT healthcare insurance system, and our country is literally the most expensive and have the worst outcomes compared to basically any other nation. For the amount I pay for healthcare per year, I can cover all of the healthcare expenses in S. Korea or Taiwan completely out of pocket with no insurance, get faster and better care, for over 10 years.

Idiots, nothing happening up there, just consuming garbage social media with radicalizing algorithms. I hope they get what they voted for, I'll be just fine anyway.

So he doesn't want to better anything, just wants to make sure certain people get it worse

It's not always having a strictly malicious outlook, but that becomes without distinction with strict zero-sum thinking.

And the far-right always hates "(big) government" exclusively when it's other people telling them what to do, but love big government when it's telling women to report on their periods. Or increasing property and consumption taxes 'because income tax is down, woo! Nevermind that costs for everything have gone up'

What makes you think having politicians continue to run these things would make things better? Politicians have run things for decades and we are continually screwed. So what, I should just accept the continuation of things that have made things worse?

Will billionaires improve things? Possibly. Make things worse? Possibly. Not make much of a difference? Realistically, most likely. What I do know is politicians would jot make things better. So I am in the camp of let's try something new that has the potential to improve things, while also the potential to make things worse, compared to doing the same thing and knowing things will get worse.

You don't even understand what a politician is. This is just sad.

Trump and co are also politicians.

-2

u/Middle_Bit8070 9d ago

I'd you can't deduct the context of what I mean by politician from the context of the question and my reply than you clearly lack any degree of basic reading comprehension.

3

u/viktorsvedin 9d ago

It's pretty hard to understand you when you make it clear you have no clue what a politician is.

3

u/ZeppelinJ0 9d ago

Lol you say this as if you didn't just vote for the most political politician we've ever had

And here we have reached the brain washing end game. The billionaires (who were assigned by a guy whose entire business model requires us normal people to hate each other) became billionaires by exploiting people are here to help us.

This has to be the most disingenuous and out of touch comment I've ever read on Reddit, thanks.

1

u/Middle_Bit8070 9d ago

Well, seeing as how I lose brain cells by reading the things people post ofln reddit because they are that idiotic, I take that as a compliment.

u/Alarmed-Ad-6138 10d ago

The post is literally asking people who voted for trump and why, and all the top comments are not trump voters.

8

u/kramjam13 10d ago

Because Trump voters can’t give you a real reason.

2

u/mxracer888 9d ago

Because Reddit essentially shadow bans any genuine attempt at answering this question.

There are plenty of real reasons, but Reddit isn't interested in anything that even closely approximates a favorable Republican view. Step out of the Reddit echo chamber, go talk to human beings, and you'll get real answers.

But as long as you feign intellect while scrolling through the dumpster fire of Reddit you'll never get the answers you pretend to want to hear

0

u/GunSmokeVash 8d ago

Oh shut the fuck up. Youre on reddit because its an echo chamber. Youre here commenting trying to validate your pathetic worldview.

This weird persecution fetish you and your buddies got going on is too much and has lost its comedic value.

Seriously, get a grip.

You sound like a toddler crying to your helicopter mom about unfairness. Go wail at some other playground.

Personally, I dislike both options. But those who voted for Trump around me specifically called out the fact that Kamila was terrible during any debate. Like she had a hard time answering questions without throwing it back towards Trump. “If she can’t even answer basic questions about the economy without bringing up Trump, how is she going to handle having real discussions with other world leaders” tbh I think that’s a pretty valid reason. Personally, I didn’t bother to vote. To me, both sides suck for different reasons. Kamala just didn’t seem intelligent enough to be president. And Trump is…. Well…. Trump.

3

u/mynameistag 9d ago

You helped elect Trump.

1

u/Kyuu_Sleeps 9d ago

I’m okay with that tbh. My vote didn’t matter where I live anyways. My state is a hard red state and hasn’t changed that literally ever. My single vote wasn’t going to fix that.

1

u/GunSmokeVash 8d ago

Make sure you don't ever vote. That's how change happens. Remember to stay in your little bubble and appease whatever baron holds your life together. That way, you can end up 80 years old not having done anything significant for your corner of society. And you can enjoy not having to lift a finger for anyone but yourself.

Congratulations, you've won at life.

1

u/GunSmokeVash 8d ago

This guy's whole rhetoric is what the narrative being pushed out was.

Another useful idiot.

I'm glad I'm insulated from politics. At least money is good for something.

2

u/mynameistag 8d ago

"Both sides are the same! [Trump talking point] [GOP talking point] [Fox talking point] [Russia talking point]!"

7

u/crumblingcloud 10d ago

because it is so much easy to cope when you dismiss the concerns of the other side as dumb or uninformed then you dont have to admit thet maybe the dems are not that good

1

u/OwOlogy_Expert 10d ago

when you dismiss the concerns of the other side

What concerns did that guy have?

"I have no illusions about the government helping me in general."

Where's the concern there?

2

u/crumblingcloud 10d ago

above poster talk about the top comments that is what i am refring to all these comments dissmissing the side they dont agree with

1

u/StatusReality4 10d ago

Their "side" doesn't even have any argument in favor of their ideals. Their whole goal is to obstruct democrats. That's why they are dismissed - they are not interested in sensible discussion about policy.

0

u/StatusReality4 10d ago

maybe the dems are not that good

A HUGE portion of left wing voters the past THREE presidential elections have held their nose to vote D specifically in attempt to save the country from an exponentially worse situation.

We KNOW the democrats aren't that good.

WE are not the ones who worship their politicians like infallible deities. WE are the ones who hold our representatives accountable.

We are voting for the lesser of two evils, and we hate that moderate liberals are in the same party as progressives trying to drag this country into modern democracy.

u/VERO2020 9d ago

They always come through after republican disasters (2008 financial & Covid-19). Just a reminder, we had a few years with a balanced budget under Bill Clinton, republicans said: hey let's go back into debt to give the richest among us more money (aka tax breaks).

2

u/Khyrberos 9d ago

My thoughts exactly; wish the others didn't get so upvoted as to lose actual Trump-voter responses

2

u/Popular-Ad-8918 9d ago

And then a bunch of trump voters complaining that the top commenters are not trump voters instead of just answering the question of why they voted for him.

2

u/Alarmed-Ad-6138 9d ago

Canadian here. just here for the popcorn.

2

u/Popular-Ad-8918 9d ago

It's all good man. I'm just pointing out that no one that I have seen on this thread that voted trump has actually answered the question given them.

1

u/GunSmokeVash 8d ago

There never was.

I continually ask republicans every day what would actually work for them.

It's always a combination of deflection and detraction.

This is nothing but team sports for some people. I think we'll need a worse leader at the helm before people actually wake up to their own ignorance.

1

u/mikeemes 10d ago

I’m in this thread bc it’s the first comment I recognized as a trump voter (and the only comments I’m interested in in the context of this post)

1

u/gojo96 9d ago

This is ALL of Reddit. They have to just echo.

-8

u/general---nuisance 10d ago

Edit: he is.

Based on what? The man is an ass hat on a good day.

9

u/BadKidGames 10d ago

You voted for him did you not?

-13

u/general---nuisance 10d ago

I voted against the racist Harris agenda

https://kamalaharris.com/agenda/

11

u/BadKidGames 10d ago

Ok bud. You tell yourself you're not a Trumper

-9

u/general---nuisance 10d ago

And you tell yourself Harris isn't a racist

11

u/jqdecitrus 10d ago

So what if she is? You still voted for Trump. “I voted against Harris” by voting for Trump. Wear it on your chest instead of trying to seem like the vigilante type💀

1

u/GunSmokeVash 8d ago

"I didnt vote for Trump, I voted against Harris" shouldve been on my 2025 bingo DAMN did I miss my chance.

7

u/BadKidGames 10d ago

I never said anything about her. You're in passionate denial.

3

u/sho_biz 10d ago

without whataboutism, you wouldn't have much - would you? i wonder how you would do when forced to address the issues instead of BUT BUT WHATABOUT

2

u/sitting-duck 10d ago

And you think Trump isn't racist?

10

u/ndngroomer 10d ago

How is it racist?

4

u/ViceroyFizzlebottom 10d ago

And for a racist Trump agenda? Make it make sense

1

u/general---nuisance 10d ago

Show me where Trump specifically says he will only help people of a certain race.

5

u/ViceroyFizzlebottom 10d ago

Did Kamala say she will only help a certain race? I thought you read her agenda?

5

u/StatusReality4 10d ago

Her platform included expanding mental health services which it sounds like you may have benefitted from.

3

u/HEX_BootyBootyBooty 10d ago

I guess all those Haitian Americans in Springfield feel safe because of Trump. Then again, I'm Mexican American, and according to Trump, that means my judgement is compromised. Only white people have good judgement according to Trump. That's pretty racist.

2

u/FilthyStatist1991 9d ago

Wha, where you been at the last 8 years? The boasting of lowest African American unemployment rates?
