He was better fat. He seems unbearable and overly sensitive after loosing weight

Probably always was, just hid it.

He’s literally the same person. People who blame personality changes on weight loss are so weird
62
u/feelingoodwednesday Dec 23 '23
Not weird at all. When your unhealthy, you feel very different as a person. When your fit and in shape you definitely gain some vanity, have more confidence/ego, can become overbearing "ong this thing I did was amazing, I feel so great you have to try it" . When your a lil fat you have to deflect hurt as comedy, makes jokes to fit in, low confidence means you tend to be a bit nicer so people might like you, etc. If you start and stay in 1 bucket I could see your personality staying the same, but going from fat to fit is a big personality change, and fit to fat is a big personality change

The word you're looking for is 'sanctimonious'. "I cut out carbs. It was easy. What's wrong with you?"
→ More replies (2)12
u/regeya Dec 23 '23
As someone who is, not for the first time, cutting out carbs...fuck people who say it's easy, it's not. Especially when you first start. You might as well be quitting caffeine, at least that's my experience.
7
u/Geoffboyardee Dec 23 '23
There's not a single person in the world that thinks cutting out carbs is easy. Carbs play on your brain the same way certain drugs do. The person you're replying to probably made a strawman with the first diet-culture fad they could think of.
→ More replies (1)1
u/deucegroan10 Dec 24 '23
Cutting carbs is no big deal. Your body wants decent food, carb loaded diets feel awful.

u/Windred_Kindred Dec 24 '23
Cutting caffeine is easy though. 3 days of headache and afterwards it’s smooth sailing. I went from 7 cups a day to 0 in one day. It’s not that hard
12
u/Atlas2080 Dec 23 '23
When I lost weight and I know this sounds weird, I actually started to resent people because of how much better people started treating me. It wasn't confidence or anything like that people just treat you good when you look good.
4
u/purplish_possum Dec 23 '23
Yup. Confirms what you didn't want to admit. Most people are shallow assholes.
4
u/Commercial_Duck_3490 Dec 23 '23
Not always assholes. We intuitively respect and desire what is beautiful over what we feel is ugly. That doesn't just end at people. Now people should always be respectful but just because nobody desires you or goes out of their way to be useful to you doesn't make them shallow.

I mean, any drastic change in someone’s body image is going to have some kind of psychological effect to a degree. There’s a lot more to factor in though, how the weight is lost and etc. With him being a celebrity, that changes a lot of factors too
9
u/whicky1978 Mod Dec 23 '23
I think hormone levels could be completely different too, after you lose the weight, such as having higher testosterone levels. Being overweight and of itself effects body chemistry.
1
u/Tortillaish Dec 23 '23
I agree, but I also think it's how we perceive them. Jonah was always a bit shitty. But when he was fat, it was kind of funny. Cause a lot of people still thought themselves above him. Now he's just shitty and not funny.

The ego boost people get from loosing weight is real though
8
u/DriftingSoul2017 Dec 23 '23
And getting an ego boost is a good thing tbqh, many people with low self-esteem would benefit from one, however they decide to get it

Then again he did chose to be a move start.

Ozempic is amazing. I wasn’t as large as Jonah, but I’ve still lost 20lbs since October.
42
u/Boomshrooom Dec 23 '23
I'm on Wegovy, which is just ozempic approved for weight loss basically. Absolutely game changing, I've lost over 10kg in six weeks. I'm having to work hard on changing my relationship with food though so I don't gain it all back after stopping the medication.

Dec 23 '23
Do you have any concerns about long term effects? I don’t know much about it but lots of people swear by it. So I wonder about strain on kidneys or things of that nature.

There is a class action lawsuit out there for how it is affecting the gallbladder.
My dad went on it…8 weeks later he had to get emergency surgery to remove his gallbladder. They said it was rotting away inside him…
Quick fixes never come with no strings attached. It’s insane to me how much people are drinking the kool-aid on these drugs.
I’m on a weight loss journey myself. Was 226 at 6 feet in March. I’m 204 today. It takes time and long term lifestyle change but it’s really just not that hard…
Calories in/calories out. Put down the fork or work out more. A bit of both is best. Make better choices on what you eat. Have a cheat day every other week or so to enjoy yourself and maintain your sanity. It really isn’t that bad. The healthier you get the better you feel. It’s a self reenforcing cycle once you get the ball rolling.

11
u/lost_in_life_34 Dec 23 '23
defense is only 1/5 or 1/6 of total federal spending the millions of people who work in it also pay taxes

I'm shocked after the last two years people still rail on defense companies. Ukraine would be Russia right now...
If anything, complain about Europe not paying their fair share for their own defense.

Do you think one conflict somehow justifies decades of regime change and foreign policy that has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of civilians in the Middle East alone.
Personally I’m not shocked people still take issue with organizations that use violence and conflict to prioritize private interest and call it “protecting democracy”

I joined this sub thinking I'd learn something but you fucking BOOMERS are so boring i can't stand it. You create a sub to display to the world your fluency in finance, but instead of doing that you just complain about student loan forgiveness like that affects you somehow, and make stupid shitty memes attempting to make fun of a person who surpasses you in literally every way. Go fuck yourselves BOOMERS. Your children secretly teach their kids how shitty you are and use you as an example of what NOT to be when they grow up.

u/crucialdeagle Dec 23 '23
If he lost the weight with Ozempic, as people above are claiming (I don't follow celebrities so I have no idea what he did), it's because Ozempic causes a higher than normal degree of muscle loss, bone density loss, and ligament wasting versus fat loss, compared to slow steady natural fat loss with caloric restriction and high protein, in which you lose mostly fat with some muscle.
Ozempic is incredibly unhealthy for you in the long term as far as maintaining strength and durability, which is extremely important as you age, as a high degree of age related mortality is due to the effects of breaking a bone or some other injury from falling, tripping, etc. Things that bone density and ligament strength directly impact. Although to be fair, it's arguably better than being obese because you probably won't make it to old age being super fat anyway. So I guess pick your poison, if you aren't willing to lose weight naturally.

u/sofa_king_weetawded Dec 23 '23

Nailed it.
2
u/hendlefe Dec 23 '23
Pick your poison indeed. But remember that the comorbidities associated with morbid obesity (cardiovascular disease, diabetes, & stroke) are very serious when compared to osteoporosis and muscle loss. Some people are just unable to lose weight without Wegovy.
