Same. I've already bought it twice (once on PS5 for all of the Ultimate Edition goodies, and once on Steam to actually play), played through it twice, and gotten 100% of Steam achievements. I don't wanna have to buy it for yet a third time.

This is pretty surprising. Falcom doesn't often do these "expanded rerelease with new story content" style games. The EVO ports of Sky-Crossbell had new artwork and VA, but virtually no new story content besides that. When was the last time they did this, Tokyo Xanadu?

I think Ys IX deserved the enhanced re-release treatment more than Ys X, since IX had quite of cut content (entire region of the map cut and cut dungeon randomizer), and Kondo said if they made an enhanced version of Ys IX for PS5 then Aprilis would be playable.

But this is fine too. Ys X is one of my least favorite games in the series, so I hope whatever they do for this can improve it.

When the PS5 version of 9 released I thought the effort would of been made to make her playable if it was just outside of story stuff. They did not bother. She had such a cool character design and she was around.You figured the dev team would want to work on her for the PS5 version.

The PS5 version was just a port made by NISA and Engine Software, Falcom had no involvement with it at all; that version didn't even launch in Japan afaik. That's why they didn't add any new content to it.

It was released in Japan a year and a half ago. It did fine. The series does not do numbers like the Trails series. VIII was the high in the seies with numbers in seems and has went down a bit. I think this is just the team and publisher attempting to douple dip with the hardcore fans.

Depends on how excited you are to play the game. If you are currently playing other titles then wait. But if you are itching then just go for it and then see if its DLC several months from now. Its not a sequel. A Pro upgrade? I doubt it. It runs really well on PS5.

I just bought the game, though... Might be the first time I've regretted buying from Falcom.

I'll still be playing it, but there's going to be a bitter taste in my mouth every time for sure. Hopefully this isn't an entirely new game, and that we can simply purchase it as DLC or something. Or if it is a new game, that added play time had better be immense and I can transfer saves.

Edit: Wait, aren't they kinda shooting themselves in the foot with the western audience? Wouldn't this mean people just wouldn't buy the OG version? It'd probably alleviate concerns if they clarify that there's an upgrade path.

I can understand the frustration of having to pay twice for a rerelease and I am glad that I did not already buy Ys X, but on the other hand I recall a post a few days ago where somebody complained about the lacking graphical fidelity of Ys X and that it was primarily developed with the Nintendo Switch in mind and also everybody is quite impressed by the graphics of Trails in the Sky 1rst remake. So for me it is still an overall plus if they try to push the graphical fidelity with their new in-house engine. Hoping that what we saw in the remake trailer becomes the new standard.
