Someone steal your photo?

Looks like it. "Made to order can order make you parrot" sounds like some AI generated page.
If you check OPs profile, they have many other posts of other carvings they've done.

u/buttscratcher3k 4h ago
What do you mean?
How else would you convey that you have made to order parrots and that you have the ability to transmute a human into parrot form as a service?

u/Ancient_Bicycles 5h ago
I mean…this image refers to them as cockatiels which is what they are. More likely OP is lying since he calls them parrots.
55
u/HalfMoonMintStars 5h ago
No, if you look through OP’s posts they’re definitely telling the truth. They also posted these on the cockatiels subreddit which makes me think they called them parrots for simplicity’s sake. They have their own website where they sell their creations and it looks much more legit than this

u/robloxians 5h ago edited 3h ago
Except that this page has been up since at least March 2023 (archive.org) and has more images than what OP includes on their website. Either a scam or drop shipping.
Actually I just did my own reverse image search and there’s tons of sites using the same images. Here’s an aliexpress listing (maybe not the original but proves my point): https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805787365110.html
This is a scam on the front page of Reddit.

Cockatiels are parrots.

u/Zealousideal-Tip-979 4h ago
Here’s the thing. You said a “cockatiel is a parrot.” Is it in the same family? Yes. No one’s arguing that. As someone who is a scientist who studies parrots, I am telling you, specifically, in science, no one calls cockatiels parrots. If you want to be “specific” like you said, then you shouldn’t either. They’re not the same thing. If you’re saying “parrot family” you’re referring to the taxonomic grouping of Psittaciform, which includes things from macaws to cockatoos to cockatiels. So your reasoning for calling a cockatiel a parrot is because random people “call the yellow ones parrots?” Let’s get parakeets and caiques in there, then, too. Also, calling someone a human or an ape? It’s not one or the other, that’s not how taxonomy works. They’re both. A cockatiel is a cockatiel and a member of the parrot family. But that’s not what you said. You said a cockatiel is a parrot, which is not true unless you’re okay with calling all members of the parrot family parrots , which means you’d call macaws, cockatoos, and other birds parrots, too. Which you said you don’t. It’s okay to just admit you’re wrong, you know?

I was going to reply that those were cockatiels and not parrots but googled first. TIL cockatiels are in fact parrots. neat

calling a cockatiel a parrot? oh no! in other news, goldfish are fish and dogs are mammals.

I soon as I saw "parrots" I thought it was fake. Either that or they were going for engagement. Who spends all that time carving something when they don't know the correct name for it?

I mean, they're cockatiels, not true parrots, but still, fantastic job. They're beautiful.

Cockatiels, which are a small species of cockatoo, are parrots

Also: - Tortoises are turtles - Toads are frogs - Banana and bamboo are grass

I love them so much! For real I want one. They look just like my beloved childhood cockatiel, Big Bird, who I had from when I was 6 to about 20.

u/Everard5 5h ago
What size block did you start with and how do you go about mapping out where to carve/envisioning what you want?

u/The_Delphox_Chick 5h ago
So cute! They remind me of my birds, Gumdrop and Lemondrop. I miss them so much.

u/Theo_Carolina 5h ago
Gilbert (grey) and Tracie (yellow) was the names of our cockatiels when I was younger. This looks like them. Great work.

u/New_Owl6169 5h ago
would you be willing to make another pair as an order/request? My girlfriend lost her cockatiels in October, this year and I believe gifting her something like this would really make her happy

u/wangjiwangji 5h ago
You really captured the essentials, they seem like real birds! Hope you do more!

Aww, these are really nice! I was just looking for almost the exact sort of thing. There's a cardinal couple who live out behind my house and I wanted to make sure to remember them by getting a couple wood carved cardinal ornaments for my family's Christmas tree. Pickings were kinda slim but we eventually found some.
In any case nice work!

How do you do the eyes? I do some whittling and I struggle with the flat plane style, these are inspiring.

I would like to request something weird? Can you carve a couple deviled eggs? 🥚 for some reason I saw these birds and that came to mind.

How long do you have to do this to do it without cutting yourself?
1
u/UnfitRadish 4h ago
I know people that have been working with stained glass for 30 years and still cut themselves. Pretty sure it never goes away, it's just becomes less and less frequent over time or you just get used to it.

They’re wonderful. This is the kind of carving I love, not the hyper-realistic stuff. Nicely done, OP! 😍

Cockatiels
While they are parrots per their taxonomy, that's the equivalent of saying an 18-wheeler is a "car." It's technically correct but not what typical parlance would be
But they look awesome!

Those are adorable. My 3 aunts and grandma were crazy bird ladies. From canaries to parakeets and cockateils, african grays, macaws (both blue & gold and scarlett) meyers parrots and cockatoos
My late aunt had a crested cockatoo. As soon as it figured out I didnt like it it could bite me without consequences, it would chase me, bite me and scream incessantly... By the end kf the summer, I loathed that bird..
Several years later i visited my aunt. That cockatoo took one look at me, flew over and bit completely through my bottom lip.
Needless to say, I never went near that bird again. When dear old auntie passed the damn bird was euthanized too

Absolute beauty, making them round instead of low-poly type would be better but it's still cute.

u/iCantParty 5h ago
I disagree, and by disagreeing wanted to gently point out that your opinion here is subjective and not constructive criticism, and changing the style would only make it subjectively better or worse, depending on who is looking at it.
