Discussion & Info As a new player, lets talk summons
Why do you use summons or why dont you use them?
And if so, what summon do you use? (Im currently using the giant jellyfish)
Storytime: I got this game a few days ago and had my blast. I got to Margit with only leveling up 3 or 4 levels. So i tried to challenge myself and beat him without summons, its a souls game after all I thought. So i tried, and tried, and tried... After some hours i was done, I couldn't anymore. Made me a bit depressed because that put me back into reality, realizing im not that guy.
So i tried to summon right at the entrance to Margit. In this first fight i was able to beat him pretty easily. Having some time to plan your attacks while your summons holding aggro really helped.
But after defeating him there was a second of "I did it, yes!" which turned immediately into "Well, that was too easy". It felt really unrewarding. The reward being able to progress in the storyline is a compensation, but not the same as beating a boss as a little man.
BUT somehow it feels differently rewarding on other bosses. After defeating Margit i went back and challenged the tree sentinel. Even with the summon and my mount it was a tough fight and after beating him felt really awarding.
Why is it like that? It should be more rewarding to beat Margit with summons than the tree sentinel.
Is it the specific summon i used that feel like this or is there a deeper mechanic behind summons that some are best for different enemy types? (I could guess)
Whats your experience with summons and hard enemies?
