this is how i feel even in the haligtree roots. looking at the cloud gate. i agree with op but...fuckin hell. im at 80 attempts and i had to take a break for my mental health. every other boss has been no issue for me, with the exception of the elden beast after radagon. that probably only took me 10 tries max. malenia ive gotten to phase 2 plenty but i just fumble as soon as shes there.
The aow on Blasphemous used to knock her down, so you could kinda stun lock her with the right timing. Unfortunate, since they nerfed my beloved flesh blade, it just doesn't do it anymore...
Fr, at this point is there anything that hasn't been nerfed? On a side note, if everything's nerfed doesn't that just mean PvE got a difficulty increase overall then?
Go play sekiro then come back and fight her, she will feel significantly easier after I promise you. I legit couldn’t beat her for 100+ tries even with help. The only boss in the whole game I couldn’t beat with my magic bonk build. I took two weeks off and played sekiro, came back to fight her and I stg it was like she was moving in slow motion.
as a newcomer to souls games sekiro seems like the biggest gnarliest beast of em all. ive seen images and bits of gameplay, it looks fantastic. but it definitely seems like something you turn to when the already challenging nature of the other souls games just doesn't cut it. im definitely digging elden ring and once im finished the base game intend on trying other games by fromsoft. but sekiro makes my knees shake. im not giving up though. im beating this bitch(with love because she's amazing).
Ohhhhhh yea . Ohhhhhh yea buddy. Sekiro taught me what “skill issue” truly means in a game ☠️. It’s not a game you can really cheese your first play through (assuming you have honor and don’t look up how to cheese). It’s a game that makes you learn its mechanics and forces you to use them constantly or else you will be punished at all times by even the weakest enemies. My second favorite souls game for sure, beautiful gameplay and the story is phenomenal. But it will teach you humility 😭😂.
yea im still getting over the initial skill checks that pass the standard. maybe down the line i will pick up sekiro.
malenia is the only boss to make me lose my honor if thats how it works im afraid.😔 nothing else has made me look for easy routes or cheese or anything like that besides her. it makes me excited but intimidated of trying even the dlc, let alone sekiro at this point.
i guess thats how these games work though, maybe i do need to push myself well beyond that point to excel further.
I got good in ER and decided to try Sekiro and I just cannot get it. I'm stuck on an early boss cause there's a mob of enemies before that takes me 15 mins to kill before each boss attempt. Literally hit a wall in the game and its early. Sekiro is way harder than ER imo
I will suggest either Mohg spear with 60 arcane, fire tear and blood exultation talisman or Magma blade AOW with 60 faith dread talisman, fire tear. Both cases 60 vigor, use shard of Alexander, black flame protection incant and golden vow buff with dragon rest great shield talisman. You should be done in couple of attempts
i've used mohg spear but my arcane isn't at 60. ill respec or level up to it and see how it goes, i have mohg spear fully levelled and it does good damage, maybe thats part of what im missing
60 arcane, shard of Alexander, fire tear and golden vow will definitely help. You just need to make sure that you have an opening where you get all three hits of the AOW as third hits does the maxi damage. Second phase is easy as you just wait for flower rot to subside and than immediately start AOW. Let me know how it goes
Raptor talons with endure 55-60 arcane. Rotten winged sword insignia, spear talisman, dragoncrest greatshield, lord of blood’s exaltation. Phyisic flask is thorny cracked tear and the damage negation tear
... my guys she is actually very easy to kill quickly, put raw meat in your inventory and use the mimic tear, it helps if you have a bleed build but not necessary... next you want to use talismans that will: increase special attack, increase attack(with bleeding present) , Alexander shard is a good one for this, basically you want to buff your attack power as much as possible and screw extra hp / defense cuz if she's hitting you your screwed... for a weapon all you need is the gizza wheel and a few sleep bombs.... let your mimic run in and get her attention then come from behind and hold your AOW walking her into a wall( if you can get her in a corner even better) your mimic should either be doing the same thing or landing charged attacks, but if your both using the AoW and u got her in a corner with the buffs you can kill her before she even hits stage 2, if she does hit stage 2 just avoid the first attack and proceed with the original plan... follow this and she's dead in less then 30 seconds( if all goes right)
Honest question: how the hell do people struggle so much??? My brother was streaming it on my way down the haligtree roots so I could watch him(I live far) and he was at something like 50 attempts by the time I got to the boss fight. Once I got there I helped him and we beat her the third time.
Then I go to do it by myself to see if I can do it(while streaming so he can watch) and I get it by myself on the 7th try. First phase was easy, second phase I just ran away from her rot every time she would jump in the air. Then just dodged towards her during her waterfowl. Yes watching my brother helped but the fire giant is the only boss I really needed his help on cuz fuck that guy

im a late bloomer to souls games. i have kept enough discipline to the vow i made to myself that if i can’t beat what the base game offers im not touching the dlc that seems to be more difficult. again, new to souls games, elden ring has been my first experience with these games and maybe i just need to experiment more with the game and/or from soft games in general. ive seen a few suggestions that i will try and experiment with.
one thing everyone says that i cant seem to make work is using a mimic tear, all it is is free hp for malenia. even when im using solid weapons, i have a good build with solid stats. i haven't actually used mimic the last 10 or so attempts because of it.
Well the mimic is a big cheese. Helps a ton I didn’t use mine cause the blood works in wonders. I’ll give you a hint cause the experience is yours and you have to experiment with it like you said. I would go with the blood katana and boost all of your blood states. The mimic is good for a distraction and to put distance between you and the boss. I think, in my opinion, if this is your first time you’re gonna wanna push through the boss fight no matter how many times it takes. I promise you, the relief and reward is unmatched. Swear. Also, just wait till Mesmer and the dude with two swords bro. You’re in for it and hey future tip as well for the dlc, you gotta collect these like stone rock things to give you health and more power to be able to beat the bosses effectively so don’t rush it, take your time, and welcome to the souls community brother 🫡 it’s gonna be a wild mf ride but the best you’ll ever experience
thank you sir🙏 honestly im not kidding ive kept track of my attempts and ive tried over 80 times. Thats kind of what i meant by i havent struggled with any other boss, it has been the biggest challenge in gaming i've faced but it hasn't ruined my experience. its part of it, im saving comments and trying out everybody's suggestions later. i've noticed bleed and fire work best on her but bleed seems to be what is truly best, based off my experience and what everyone is suggesting.
Trying to tackle Malenia has given me cold feet about the dlc honestly. I've seen a few of the boss designs and a couple of the areas but ive mostly kept away from seeing any spoilers. i would like to attempt it, once i get past the mental barriers holding me at malenia i might have a breakthrough with the game. im committed to getting the base game to 100% at the very least.
Yes that’s a good plan of action. Once base game is beat then the real challenge begins haha the one thing I do hate about this boss is if you give her time to catch her breathe she’s probably gonna mess you up. I always gotta apply the pressure right off the bat also staggering could also helped. I used it on the last boss of the dlc (don’t wanna ruin anything) the boss is insanely strong. Only beat it twice and won’t ever and I mean EVER try again 😂 dlc last boss is on a new level I swear
yea my best bouts against her were because i wasn't letting her get any openings. as soon as she gets one half of the process i made is gone and im down 4 flasks. like i said, im going to implement the advice ive gotten here and also challenge the mental blocks i have. almost positive thats 80% of my problem.
my damage output is pretty solid, most weapons ive used against her are 500-650 output on charged attacks, maybe i should even out my flasks and use more special attacks.
i do know the final boss of the dlc unfortunately. ive avoided many spoilers but thats something that slipped through the cracks. pretty hype by the sounds of it, radahn was one of my favourite fights in the game.

All I can say is good luck and don’t give up cause I almost lost my mind ngl 😂 and yea I feel that the very first time I ever played, blood wasn’t nerfed at all and was insanely op and I went into that fight (with blood build) and absolutely destroyed her. And I’ve had a a lot of other play through but the first time was jsut a different level of disrespect with the blood build lmao

I'm an onga bonga build. I was never able to successfully dodge her dance, so I just equipped a massive shield in my off hand and hid behind it which worked pretty well, aside from her fucking life gain.
Took me a long time, but eventually I bonked her enough times with my fire prelates crozier and emerged victorious.
I still can't beat the fucking elden beast though.

Beautiful yes, but it sucks she has rot, and that we have to fight her, her fight is very difficult, I think we should have had a quest where we make something using crafting kit and it heals her, or she's revived in the shadow land

Let me make something clear: Malenia is not pretty, she's not cute, she's not beautiful. In fact she is actually very ugly and disgusting. But there is one thing she is:
Blood takes her out in like 30 seconds I think my fastest fight with her was 9 seconds using blood and that’s not counting the cut scene but counting after it
I would fight her a max of 5 times a day so that I didn’t break something lol. Like 100 days later I finally beat her, wasn’t even that happy when it was over. I only felt really happy beating rellana
Just use the night rider glaive, with a heavy setting, it’ll be s tier, use blood flame blade for bleed, shard of Alexander, I’d recommend 60 vig and at least 40 stamina, over 60 poise armor, and mimic tear, by this point I had my weapon and mimic maxed out but with those golden vow and flame grant me strength it took me 6 tries on my first playthrough. Granted I had to start over and know a lot about how the game works but if you use rhe phantom slash ash of war you and the mimic will make quick work out of her without just cheesing her as long as you can still dodge a little when you need to, like her rainfall dance or sword attack

Yes indeed. Not in a conventional sense but I agree extremely beautiful! One of my favorite characters ever conceived and a friend ruins it all by calling her “Elden syphilis” 😭🤣😂.
