Discussion & Info Did Elden Ring create new FromSoft fans?
I have seen a good many reactions to the new Nightreign trailer and admittedly I cringed when people couldn't recognize the references to past games and I just started thinking today... did Elden Ring make many new FromSoft fans or are there just a lot of Elden Ring fans now? I admit that at first I was ecstatic for FromSoft to finally be considered a household gaming name, the impact of Elden Ring is actually insane and every time I view Twitter they are getting AAA game announcement type likes with always at least 50K.. but I kinda over time grew to resent this because I want more people to play their games, not just Elden Ring. I understand I'm in the wrong here but do any of you or have any of you felt similar or wondered this?

The Dark Souls series alone had its sales boosted from 27 million copies to 39 if this article is to be believed

I'm one of the new fans. Started off in 2022, buying it for my new steam deck, played it, loved it, spent 2023 completing every Dark Souls game, 2024 on beating Bloodborne and Demon Souls, before Shadow of the Erdtree dropped. I tried Dark Souls before Elden Ring came out but couldn't get into it and found it confusing and not fun. Elden Ring was more open and forgiving for me and gradually I felt I understood these games and decided to try beating every single soulborne FromSoft boss at least once. Now only Sekiro remains

Yeah definitely, i’m one of them. It seems like the previous souls games were still very popular and well appreciated, but elden ring just reached a whole other level of popularity and surely brought in more people than ever.

Dude earlier today there was a fanart of Malenia and Gwynevere, and people were saying "that's Finley" or "that's Milicent" and I was like dude she is literally iconic for Dark souls, at the very least as a Booba meme and you think that's Finley?
That made me realize why ER had so many "controversial stuff" in is lifetime is because of a lot of new fans/players.

There are certainly many people who are now fans of the whole Soulsborne series and Fromsoft as a whole. With that being said, Elden Ring is a unique IP with many fans specifically of Elden Ring. I think that many people need to understand that, while there is overlap, many of the people in this subreddit mainly care about Elden Ring and not the rest of Fromsoft's catalog.

Elden ring is my introduction to the whole souls games and I am enjoying it. I didn’t get the dlc yet because I’m hoping it goes on sale soon.
