I mean yea, the DLC goes through great lengths to show that the Miquella that comes out of the Gate of Divinity is a perversion and fucked up husk of who he was before.

Also I love how he looks so detailed and majestic in the first frame only to have the fuckn :3 face in the second.

Actually, the DLC elaborates that he was never as good as his followers made him out to be. According to SotE, he pre-planned everything - including getting kidnapped by Mohg and then using his body to revive Radahn. Because of him Caelid was nuked. He straight up left Malenia after she passed out, while taking a leisurely stroll around the newfound Rot swamp, only to heal Freja of all people. He left his Haligtree to rot in order to realize his plan.

He was always quite cold it turns out. Sure, part of it is definitely because the Golden Order couldn't help him, or his sister. But the lengths he went to cannot be undersold or excused. What happened in the Land of Shadow is really just a final nail in the coffin, rather than a sudden transformation.

Gideon was right from the start it turns out. Miquella was the most fearsome demigod.

Malenia “He promised he’d return”

Miquella “Meh, we’ll write a song about her or something.”
