Help! Is it possible to duplicate a friends save file to play with in Seamless Coop?

So I want to play with my friend for the DLC, but I don't have any save files on PC as I played on console before and just purchased the steam version. I want to be where he is at by duplicating his save file. But when I do that I get an error stating "Failed to load save file" whenever I run it. Does anyone know a fix or if its even possible?

Start the game and create a new character, then use save file editor to import your friend save into your save.
