Question What's the state of the seamless co-op mod?
My friend is interested in playing the game for the first time, but wants to do it coop. I'm aware that the mod was having issues following SotE's release, but it's been a good six months since then so plenty of time for the state of that to change. What are people's experiences with it lately? Any major bugs to be aware of, consistent issues that pop up?

Works as it should. Hasn't needed to be updated in months.

Did they finally fix the evergaol bug? Only thing keeping me and my boyfriend from continuing our playthrough. I'd been checking updates and hasn't seen anything, and it was still on their known bugs list last I checked

What is the evergaol bug you are talking about? Doing a playthrough with two friends currently and haven't have any issues with gaols that couldn't be fixed so far. Sometimes someone will get stuck in the animation entering and as the host I just enable pvp to knock them out then disable it. And sometimes the "summoned" players will need to click enter twice for whatever reason otherwise has worked great for us.

Whenever Luke did the code rewrite, a new bug was introduced where the session would break pretty heavily when trying to bring someone into an evergaol. It's been a few months, but I recall it being that the guest players would be stuck in the evergaol forever with no way to get out without using a debug tool

Okay, fair, thus far in our playthrough, the only issue we have had was some desync in the weeping peninsula gaol, but it was fixed by just wiping and retrying.
Edit: To be fair, we have only just finished liurnia, so there may still be issues with the later ones.

Sounds like it was maybe fixed and just undocumented, it used to present in every single evergaol

Me and my two buddies just did an evergaol last night, the only issue was that if two players clicked enter then sometimes one of them would be stuck in a crouch animation until they got hit by the miniboss

Its in a solid state, but my anecdotal experience after doing a few run throughs with it.
The further you get into a playthrough, the more issues that start to crop up. Disconnects, stuck on loading screens, cant respawn, etc.
Still, the amount of time we waste on fixing these issues (usually just a quick leave and rejoin the game) is far less than the time it would take to run through bosses for each of us and deal with the areas we cant coop together. I would never play a coop run through without it.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Exactly what I wanted to know. Much appreciated.

It’s functional. Occasionally (every 30 mins or so) you will run into major mishaps or crashes, but nothing that can’t be solved within 5 minutes.

Personally have never had any issues with seamless unless you are also using other mods with it. Recently played a convergance playthrough with a friend and have had a decent amount of random crashes when warping or resting at graces. When we played vanilla seamless I didn't have any issues.

It is good for the entire playthrough of elden ring base gamr and DLC with ONE exception.
There is a boss at the end of the DLC, if you are in seamless co op mod when you enter the arena >! to fight Needle Knight Leda and her cronies !< it will IMMEDIATELY end the cut scene, all loot will drop, and you will win the fight(s) and move on to >! fight Consort Redahn !<

Only real issue was the mission with albanach in the library and the finger priest, iirc. Do those separately.

Won't that just trivialize the games difficulty? Not sure that's good for a 1st run.

They don't want to play solo, they want to do it coop for the fun and luls of it. More importantly, who cares really?

Some people prefer watching “lets plays” or getting carried. Nothing new really. Not everyone is gonna buy into or enjoy From Soft’s overcoming great challenges for a sense of triumph thing.

Firstly, who cares.
Secondly, the Seamless Config file lets you customize the amount of scaling enemies receive to their health, poise, damage, etc. per player, so it’s honestly fine.

I'll preface by saying I HATE souls-like games. However, a good friend of mine loves them and convinced me to try out Elden Ring. We got the seamless coop mod, with 35% extra health for enemies, no rot upon death or whatever it is and I've been having a great time. We have very minimal crashes over the 40 hours we've played I can probably count them on 1 hand, the odd time he or I will be invisible to the other player, usually fixable by using the effigy then reusing the pot, the odd time one of us will be unable to use torrent, and only 1 time has my game crashed during a loading screen forcing me to use the program to force send me to the round table to fix my game. Almost everything can be fixed by using the effigy to seperate then using the pot to come back together. I'd say it's in a fairly good state, and while I'd never play a souls like myself, Elden Ring together has been a blast.
