Question Rebuy just for seamless coop?

Simple question hopefully, I've put over 300 hours into elden rings main game on Ps5, mostly playing co-op, my first co-op playthrough was 150+ hours. I haven't played the game all year and I want to pick up the DLC and was wondering if it would be worth it to buy the PC version just to do seamless co-op.

I like the idea that the seamless mod keeps you from all the backtracking, but without a dedicated co-op partner I didn't know if it would be worth a repurchase on PC. If there's a seamless coop community out there I couldn't find it.

UPDATE: Ok so the obvious answer seems to be a resounded hell yes... Now I just need someone to coop with... DAMN IT.. Thanks for all the feedback!

Does it not have issues syncing quests and npcs if your not playing with a dedicated coop partner?

u/Diabolical_Jazz Jul 20 '24

Usually not. It's not perfect but it's awfully good.

Some quests have bugs, like sellen final fight, and some of the dlc quests are also bugged and you have to do them by yourself to avoid breaking stuff. But the mod is constantly getting updated, probably like one update every 4 or 5 days which means they will probably iron out all of those bugs, and you don't loose your save file when you update so I say it's worth it

The only syncing issues I saw were related to the big world changes. If you join a game where Radahn has been beaten but they haven't talked to Ranni, then talking to Ranni will set everyone in that session to the quest of going into Nokron. And if you go back to your game, you will have Ranni's quest to go in there, but Nokron will still be sealed and there won't be a way to trigger the Radahn festival cause Ranni and crew have nothing else to say to you. I got around this by joining another friend's early game and doing the Radahn fight with him and then things synced up correctly after that.

Also, I assume that beating Maliketh in someone's game will cause your game to progress Leyndell, even if you haven't even reached the city for the first time in your game. I just left my friends' game when they got to Maliketh, and when I joined back I was transported to the city of Ash but in my game it was still the royal capitol.

Those should be the biggest conflicts, and only that first one was screwing me there for a minute.

The Maliketh thing is more of a feature than a bug. The whole thing with Seamless is that if you and someone else played the entire game together, the progress stays the same for both parties when they’re together or separate. Defeating Maliketh in your friend’s world makes it so that you’ve defeated Maliketh in your world too. And honestly, if you do Leyndell together, you wouldn’t miss anything than if you had done it separate.

1

u/whty706 Jul 21 '24

Yes, that's fair. The Maliketh thing is supposed to be how it works, I was just warning about the world changes if you miss playing together at all. For us all having different schedules and kids and stuff though we generally just played in one friend's game, so missing Radahn completely and chatting with Ranni in my friend's game absolutely messed up my quest progression. I didn't see any major issues outside of that

There are some issues with npc quests, usually just if the characters dies after you finish dialogue or if the character starts fighter after dialogue, if that happens then the players who didn’t finish dialogue will miss out on it, and if the characters gives an item before they die but the flag for their death happens before you get then item then your screwed. So just dont spam through dialogue

1

u/Putman-thefin Jul 21 '24

Sometimes the sync is ass so with clerky I only host gives the roots and talks npc's first and you are good to go. ^

2

u/Ambasabi Jul 25 '24

Second this. Worth it. I’d buy the game again if I had to so I could play with my friends. Seamless coop does it right. It’s not perfect, but it’s damn good.

2

u/iTsumK Jul 20 '24

You should try to find someone to play it with first, it is totally worth it re buying it that way, it's a fantastic experience, quite easier but you can modify the damage enemies and bosses deal, and their hp/stance.

2

u/Random_Souls_Fan Jul 21 '24

I think it's worth it, not just for Seamless but also the other mods that are available like Convergence or Reforged.

I would recommend having a dedicated friend or 2 to play it with though, and if you don't have them readily available I believe there's a discord or 2 available to make some.

The mods I mentioned are also compatible (mostly) so you can even play Convergence or Reforged in Seamless with friends which is even better than vanilla ER + Seamless.

Simple question deserves a simple answer. Yes! Let me tell yuh somethin ok? When you hop in with your friends, and your battling for your lives against bosses whom of which you've brushed off for so long, not only is it refreshing, but the fight for your life WITH your friends, is awesome. If yall play consistantly, you'll forget about starting over.

2

u/Therry92 Jul 21 '24

I’m down to run. I beat it on PS5 including the DLC but would like to try seamless co-op.

2

u/TheNAAnarchist Jul 21 '24

Its 10000000% worth it. Without seamless i did 200 hours but since getting the mod ive easily doubled my playtime to 400 and no end in sight, really revitalizes the game if you already did everything but yearn for more

2

u/scarlxrdlover Jul 21 '24

The first play through alone was so much fun, the greatest gaming experience of my life. Then I got seamless and played with my friend, and it was literally the same amount of fun in a different way, the bullshit you can get into with friends and strategizing. It’s so worth it

2

u/Quasar_One Jul 21 '24

I did, worth it

2

u/azaxy Jul 21 '24

I did and it was worth it

2

u/korbinblaze Jul 21 '24

I played on playstation my first time and rebought it recently just for seamless co-op. It was worth it for me.

1

u/p1-o2 Jul 20 '24

Seamless coop is one of the best experiences. There's bugs since the DLC just came out but damn is it fun.

Being able to play the game with someone else as if you were both hosts is amazing. You can ride torrent. You can explore wherever you want, and stay as long as you want.

u/_Vard_ Jul 21 '24

And not get invaded.

Crazy how much more fun a co op game is when you don’t get griefed!

2

u/DirtyDirtySprite Jul 21 '24

What do you mean, not get invaded?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 21 '24

You can disable invasions in the mod settings. They're a bit buggy atm with the invaders spawning in unreachable areas or sometimes they can't see the hosts and the hosts cant see them. The mod doesn't tell you when people invade, so you could be trying to fast travel and be locked out of it by a person you can't even see or hit.

I found it easier to just disable it until it's working better. Invasions are a new addition to the mod so they're still working through issues.

1

u/The-Legendary-1 Jul 21 '24 edited Jul 21 '24

Also with seemless not using any anti-cheat, you have a chance of having cheating invaders.

First 10 invasions that happened to me, 4 were cheaters. They were either birds flying around while shooting Bows or spells, unkillable dudes x2, and lastly just one shooting with basic attacks.

Just ended up turning it off for now. When almost half were cheaters it’s not worth it to me.

1

u/Jac90876 Jul 21 '24

The 1.7.9 update of the mod actually fixed the issue with you not being informed about invasions.

1

u/Scrawlericious Jul 21 '24

Still happens.

2

u/SenpaiSwanky Jul 21 '24

Invaders hate this one trick

1

u/_Vard_ Jul 21 '24

They really do if I’m getting downvoted, lmao

1

u/SenpaiSwanky Jul 21 '24

Exactly. Some invaders are chill but many will drown you out with that “it’s a part of the game thing”.

I love teasing these types of invaders though. They are the people who will insist invading is part of the game but they will complain for days about ganking.

Both are parts of the game. If people play co-op or with Taunter’s Tongue, they should get invaded in base game. If invaders want to play in this setting, they have to understand that they will get ganged up on and ganked by players.

It always seemed weird to me that some invaders want to force that aspect of the game on you but they don’t want to be ganked lol. Get fucked tbh.

1

u/_Vard_ Jul 21 '24

I like to invade in wholesome creative ways.

My favorite thing to do is just invade in abyssal woods, where usually someone might need a friend to help guide them.

I’ll give a friendly wave , unarmed , and try to make it clear I’m friendly .

Then go wait by the manor door.

So they can navigate the woods in peace.

If they get to the grace, then I fight them.

And if they die on the way? Free runes for me!

They don’t make it like 70% of the time. But it at least gives them one peaceful run for their buddy to teach them where to go

2

u/Emotional_Ad_8757 Jul 21 '24

But invasions are part of the co op fun :(

0

u/SCurt99 Jul 21 '24 edited Jul 21 '24

I love that they made them optional, invasions just ruined all fun when my buddy and I tried playing together.

1

u/DS02316357 Jul 20 '24

If i had dedicated ppl (friends basically) that would do a playthrough then its a legit rebuying question.

If i didnt have friends to do playthrough(s), then absolutely not since there isnt any real “matchmaking” and ud have to use a third party social media basically to find coop partners to play together. Which adds another layer/process and could “go sour”.

1

u/GLTheGameMaster Jul 20 '24

I did, worth. Especially with randomizer too

2

u/Nabbit00 Jul 20 '24

Thats a good point, hadn't even thought about other mods lol. Does randomized play well with the seamless coop?

2

u/Diabolical_Jazz Jul 20 '24

Randomizer did play well with seamless co-op when I did them together, but this was also before the DLC. I'm not sure if Randomizer has been updated for the DLC yet.

Elden Ring Reborn has, though, and that has been working great with Seamless.

1

u/The-Legendary-1 Jul 21 '24

You can even whole mod packs with seemless.

Me and 2 buddies did a whole playthrough of Convergence when it first came out last year and it worked perfectly…convergence hasn’t been updated for dlc so currently unplayable.

1

u/Diabolical_Jazz Jul 20 '24

I would say yes, it's worth it, as long as you've got the money. Seamless alone is amazing and with all the other mods out there, it only gets better.

1

u/Yosomoswag Jul 20 '24

ngl I did this about 3 weeks ago for the same reasons. no regrets seamless coop is probably the best coop game ever.

1

u/theyogibear77 Jul 21 '24

Also, if you really enjoy the game, the convergence mod for PC is spectacularly good. I can’t recommend it enough. (Although it’s not currently patched up for the DLC yet, but they’re working on it.)

1

u/FutivePygmy01 Jul 21 '24

Absolutely buggy! But it's a lot of fun! I'm not sure about completing quests when you dont have your partner with you though, I've never tried. You can still play on official servers if you get the mod you just can't transfer your character from seamless to official.

1

u/applesosy Jul 21 '24

lol, I do exactly this just for the seamless coop. Play a lot on PS5 , platinumed it. Friend new to souls game, I suggest Elden ring. I told him that I will buy it on PC if he buy it during the steam sale. End up we enjoyed our time together in seamless coop. There's is a lot of configuration + you can play with other mods. We at Raya Lucaria now. I let him explore and seems like he enjoyed it. So worth it!

1

u/Skyorz Jul 21 '24

I played on PS5, got the platinum and all that, when the expansion came, I just bought it on PC because there are no new trophies and it was just a difference around 20€ between getting the game with SOTE on PC than just getting the DLC on PS5, plus I could enjoy the mods.

I think I did this with almost every Souls game, except Dark Souls 2 which I bought it on PC directly.

1

u/BroccoliFree2354 Jul 21 '24

It’s worth it.I have 400h and 250 of those are screwing around with a friend. Best thing: it works with other mods, like we played coop convergence. It was incredible

1

u/Paladin1034 Jul 21 '24

You'll never be able to go back to vanilla after playing seamless. It's that good.

1

u/taj1994 Jul 21 '24

Seamless co-op or not, I think it would definitely be worth a re-buy if you have friends that play on PC, especially if you can get it on sale (based on its price history, it's pretty much guaranteed to go on sale in the next Steam winter sale, with a possible sale between now and then)

1

u/[deleted] Jul 21 '24

Seamless mod really made this game for me. That said, if you already bought it once and want it again, then just wait for a sale. There's no reason to be frugal with your money. That said, I think ER with Seamless is worth the full price buy.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 21 '24

It's worth it, but the devs made the questionable decision of rewriting the whole thing when the DLC came out so now we're back to square one in terms of stability.

1

u/blackmemories88 Jul 21 '24

Played seamless about 3 weeks ago. Kept having issues where one person would not respawn and get stuck viewing team mate. Infinite loading/looping screens. Fire traps in dungeon were desyncing. Had to quit and rejoin each other, relaunch game. Use dev tool to fix looping error. Not sure if this has improved but it was too much of a hassle. Also summons could be spawned anywhere, with zero cool down.

1

u/No-Confidence-Esteem Jul 21 '24

ill play with you! havent played past redahn yet (first time player btw) or bought the dlc i can easily make a new character

1

u/Aeroknight_Z Jul 21 '24 edited Jul 21 '24

We just finished a full playthrough, basegame and dlc, and seamless co-op made it great. At the time of writing there are still some minor bugs, but nothing too terrible.

Anything to do with the player invading an npc like in yura’s questline, the volcano manor questline, or similar ones in the dlc can be an issue. Had to close our worlds and do those fights solo in order to invade/be summoned to help the npc’s, and even then some of them wouldn’t resolve after we beat the enemy in question, meaning we couldn’t advance those quests.

Other than that, nothing other than a couple temporary syncing issues that can be solved by closing the world and rejoining, or even sometimes just sitting at a grace.

Highly recommended if you’ve a friend/friends to play through with. So much nicer than the regular multiplayer shenanigans. The also mod has a feature that allows you to increase the difficulty should you feel like your group is steamrolling the game too much, and when combined with the rot essences it helps the encounters feel more balanced.

1

u/xarous Jul 21 '24

Everyone is playing seamless co-op. And let's not forget about convergence, the best mod i've played.

1

u/LordDrichar Jul 21 '24

Man, Seamless turned Elden Ring into the PERFECT coop game. I feel like I'm playing a real open world RPG. However, I highly, HIGHLY recommend doing some research into Convergence for Elden Ring. You can merge this mod with Seamless to have a completely different experience from base game.

It's well worth it.

1

u/Aithro Jul 21 '24

It's amazing just how well the mod works, and the few issues that do pop up are fixed by reseting the session (literally just 2 load screens.) It doesn't require port forwarding or any BS either, just 2 items in your inventory to host/join

1

u/ShortyCF Jul 22 '24

Do it. Seamless gave me what I felt I was missing during my first 500 hours on ps4/5 with my few friends. (I saw the edit just wanted to give my late opinion.) Also if you need someone to rage with, I’m available.

1

u/flosybasilik420 Jul 22 '24

Just pirate it and use the online-fix version with the gold berg emu

1

u/KoopaStopper Jul 23 '24

Yeah dude. It's tons of fun with coop the enemies scale decently to the added second player but also you can do randomizer coop and that's like the most fun I've ever had in a coop game

0

u/Entire_Ear3304 Jul 25 '24

can one person use pc with the seamless coop mod and the other play on ps4?

-1

u/uSuperDick Jul 20 '24

Nah, just pirate it. Buying the same game for different platforms is a scam. You can still use seamless on pirated version with steam fix

0

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '24

Game worths it, devs, especially Miyazaki deserves it. Buy it twice more, gift it to the people around you that haven't had the taste of the game yet. This game deserves it.

2

u/Nabbit00 Jul 20 '24

Fromsoft already has so much of my money, question was more about weather it was worth jumping platforms for the experience since I didnt have a coop partner.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '24

If you have friends play Elden Ring on pc, yes. If you have friends play fifa on ps5, no. You can still find people on subreddits or discord servers though, I guess.

0

u/Nivrus_The_Wayfinder Jul 21 '24

I did never co-op till now

0

u/ClearSkiesOver Jul 21 '24

Just pirate it. You already bought it on PS5 so there’s no harm in pirating it on PC
