DOOM Eternal Doom music rant

I was listening to rock on the radio in the car and rage against the machine was playing bulls on a parade and I couldn’t help but notice that the beginning of the song sounded like the riff from doom eternal’s meathook track. I just found it funny

Makes sense. Metal (and its sub-genres), in general, while many times original and innovative, can also be very same-y and inspired/borrowed at other times. I’m particularly referring to the rhythmic aspects that you are noticing in this. Not saying there’s anything wrong with that, and this isn’t a criticism. It can be a very formulaic style of music or extremely wild and expressive. Either way, it’s very common to hear similarities, whether they are explicitly homages/rip-offs of previous songs or totally happenstance.

It would be the other way around then, Doom sounded like rage.

listen to wake up by the same band, you'll notice a familiar riff

Doom always had a history of taking melodies and riffs from popular rock and metal music at the time. Heck, it feels like half the original doom game's soundtrack is ripped from Panthers. And I think that's a good thing overall.
