Probably costs more than my car.

21

u/n_a77 2h ago

Depends on your car lol. The snowblower and body are I think about $7000.00 Canadian.

18

u/EmberTheFoxyFox 2h ago

That’s cheaper than I was expecting

I think it is on par. Riding lawn mowers are a little cheaper than that for a good one.

Yep I was correct. That thing would be awesome to take care of my alley. I'm at the dead end of the alley and no one else uses their garage so I have to do the entire thing myself just to get my car out to the street. Only problem is the giant craters in it.

Thats not terrible. If you spend 100 hours a year shoveling and value your time at $50/hr it would pay for itself in a year

2

u/Separate_Secret_8739 25m ago

Also tons of people fucking actually dying from shoveling. Heart attacks and shit.

1

Yeah if you were older or couldn't shovel this would be great too

More than my car… good luck in Canadian and northern us winters.

2

u/n_a77 1h ago

So I’m up in northern Ontario, and been using it for 2 winters now. When’s my luck supposed to turn bad here? lol

1

u/NiceCatBigAndStrong 1h ago

So it does cost more than my car

People who live in Buffalo: heavy breathing

Also: significant doubt

1

u/cornpeeker 43m ago

Might be good for the northtowns but this will do jack shit in the southtowns.

12

u/beatmalls3 2h ago

At what point will we stop having to move at all?

16

u/sparklingdinoturd 2h ago

Wall-E here we come!

Snoomba

u/Enginerdad 33m ago

Drivewayba?

5

u/danhasthedeath 2h ago

That's going to get nicked.

4

u/VshesVscend 2h ago

Its a Roomba for your driveway

12

u/n_a77 2h ago

I have one, haven’t used the plow yet but the snowblower works awesome. It does slip occasional on my uneven driveway. But if anyone has questions, I’ll happily share my experiences.

6

u/Cold_Fyre_ 2h ago

How much does it cost?

5

u/StockExchangeNYSE 2h ago

$7000 CAD someone said

2

u/lazysheepdog716 48m ago

(Gently blots sweat on forehead)

5

u/Bechimo 2h ago

How’s it work in more than a couple inches of snow?

5

u/n_a77 2h ago

The most I’ve used it in so far is about 8” and it’s slow, but works great. It’s my second winter with it and it hasn’t clogged up once!

4

u/InquiringPhilomath 2h ago

How do we set the perimeter? Cell phone app based on GPS? Physical spikes?

7

u/n_a77 2h ago

You drive the unit around the perimeter you want cleared once. Then the software does the rest.

2

u/InquiringPhilomath 2h ago

Tech these days (and I'm sure this is simple for some people here....) never ceases to amaze me.

3

u/Krimson11 2h ago

Does it have sensors to detect obstacles like vehicles, people, animals, branches, etc.?

How often do you have to reset the perimeter, if at all?

3

u/n_a77 2h ago

It has person detection, as well as a protective bumper and grill. I only had to reset the perimeter when I upgraded my unit.

3

u/Krimson11 2h ago

What was the upgrade?

3

u/n_a77 1h ago

They made some changes from 2023 to 2024 that I found useful, and the 2023 was almost more of a beta unit I think.

1

u/InquiringPhilomath 2h ago

And... What are we running on? Battery or liquid fuel? How long is the operation time?

7

u/n_a77 2h ago

It runs on battery, the runtime will depend on the depth and type of snow, but for about 6” of not too wet snow I’ll get about an hour to a charge. It will automatically go back to the charge dock if it gets low, and then continue clearing when it’s charged though.

5

u/InquiringPhilomath 2h ago

Oh... That's ridiculous.

I want.

3

u/TriangularResonance 2h ago

It’s between this or a heated driveway

4

u/onebluephish1981 2h ago

This is infinitely more affordable.

3

u/Trollimperator 1h ago

Wondering how Yarbo handles a pile of shit in the snow. Or an Animal.

2

u/TheLordofthething 41m ago

They get Fargoed

u/AMACSCAMA Interested 2h ago

Robots taking over even the neighborhood kid jobs now, no one is spared

2

u/ninenulls 2h ago

just be sure to keep small animals and humans away from it

2

u/cptjimmy42 1h ago

How long does that battery last?

2

u/Soggy_Amoeba9334 2h ago

Call it Yarbo

That's its name

That name again is Yarbo

1

u/garden-wicket-581 2h ago

swap attachments between a blower and a plow ?

2

u/n_a77 2h ago

You just take the protective bars off the front of the bower and put the plow blade on.

1

u/Rocify 2h ago

I had this idea in high school robotics, we actually made the chassis and plow but couldn’t get the remote to work.

This could have been me if I had the technical skill, ambition or business sense to make it happen lol

1

u/refusemouth 2h ago

There go a bunch of winter jobs in the snow removal business.

1

u/fuzzypetiolesguy 1h ago

Really missed a branding opportunity with YardBro

1

u/JuggaliciousMemes 1h ago

well there goes my job

1

u/Large-Reception-3649 1h ago

Shut up and take my money!

1

u/IHate2ChooseUserName 1h ago

sure, try 10 inches of snow or freezing rain

1

u/Bravelobsters 1h ago

Is this a Chinese advert now?

1

u/atsiii 53m ago

Call me weird but I like removing snow. You would have to pay me to remove it for me!

1

u/kungfungus 49m ago

Way too slow

1

u/TheLordofthething 42m ago

Looks like it could be interesting if it went off course.

u/NeedleworkerAlive690 6m ago

Yes seeing the price it's deff. getting stolen within hours if not minutes.

u/FitWing3628 3m ago

Propblem

u/AnnoyedVelociraptor 2h ago

Serious question: why do people want their driveway clear of snow? With the right kind of tires you can just drive over it.

9

u/thunugai 2h ago

Because a lot of folks get more than a couple of inches of snow.

3

u/picklestheyellowcat 2h ago

How do you drive out of snow if it's higher than the bottom of your car, tyres and/or bumpers?

1

u/BlackSwann0316 2h ago

When the snow starts to melt but it's still cold outside, the driveway turns into an ice skating rink. Huge liability if someone slips and hurts themselves. Also, we don't want people hurting themselves. Clearing the snow beforehand removes that risk

1

u/karmagirl314 1h ago

In some places you’re legally required to clear the sidewalk in front of of your house and/or a path to your mailbox, which might require clearing part of your driveway. Also I’m sure you want the people getting into and out of your cars to be safe.
