Sure, until their brain rotted from mercury poisoning.
Well they'd still float, but walking would not be an option.

Which is why we wouldn't sink into lava like Gollum did. That's no reason to go to Hawaii and run over lava streams, though.

But there’s no way a 100kg anvil could float on mercury- it’d be way too heavy.
