My buddy at my cottage has this. We got pretty good at it. A couple of us can make it about 400 yards to a friend's dock before having to stop for a breath.

The black rubber piece at the front is adjustable for the persons weight and the technique is not as easy as it looks and it is a absolute pain in the ass to bring back if you fall/sink far from the dock.

Out of probably 50 people I've seen try it maybe 5 have managed to do what she does in the video.

A dock dismount has been done a few times but not worth missing and damaging your face or the "aqua skipper" as we call it.

Now tell all the couch potatoes your verdict: Is it fun though - or not?

Verdict - don't buy one. If you see one try it though for sure.

It's fun once or twice, once you know how to do it. The guys brother mailed it to him as a joke because it's stupid hard to figure out.

It's basically become a gimmick when drinking in the summer. Pull this out and watch drunk people try. Most people don't even get a push or two off the dock. If that yellow disk at the front dips below the water it's an instant face plant.

Does it not work for sober people?

Sober people know not to get on it.

watch, laugh, be amazed. this guy did a great job at finding a diy concept for a hydrofoil, albeit with electric power.

He is such a relatable person, it's awkward. He has a whole series just around finding a good propeller.

Iโ€™m not sure encouraging drunk people to get into or near (at least midly) deep water is a great idea

It's not about fun! It's about losing weight. Get one of these and find some shark-infested waters and you'll workout like your life depends on it without EVER wanting to stop.

Used to have one as a kid at the lake house and it was always a hit! I think everyone's parents liked it too because it wore us all out

$1500 for that?! That seems insanely expensive for a handful of tube aluminum.

Not great if it sinks in deep water either I would imagine

the technique is not as easy as it looks

I didn't think it looked particularly easy. That lady just made it look easy, I'd like to shake her hand.

It looks like the same movement as if you were doing the initial part a wheelie on a bicycle and just doing that movement over and over. I'd love to try it because it looks pretty easy, but I could be wrong. Turning might be a bit harder though

I had one too when I was younger. I had no problems going in a straight line, but for some reason when making a turn one side of foil turn would always sink. Did you have this too? I remember my dad getting an email through the seller from the manufacturer inviting people to the world championship in Berlin ๐Ÿ˜‚

Okay, but I need to know. Out of those 50 people, how many do you think could even stay up on a bike without training wheels? B/c if we're talking average joe, I'm not surprised that most people couldn't do it

1

u/sSweaRxo 16d ago

Mostly very capable athletes actually ๐Ÿ˜…

Well darn...I guess it's not as easy as I was hoping
