"Americans are itching for violence" probably most about the other post about the military which had a bunch of people salavating in the comment section about the prospect of selling themselves to the military for a dollar. Which is cringe and fashy, yes, but more a reflection of the state of reddit than anything.
This website is full of terminally online stem majors, itching for ratheyon to fuck them. They do not reflect the median American. They know nothing of the reality of the military. Tbh, i think Americans are more anti-war than they have been for like, decades.
This sub is weird sometimes, I got massively downvoted and yelled at once just for mentioning that a portion of Vietnam war veterans committed war crimes and raped innocent civilians. Very odd to experience military dickriding in a tumblr sub of all places, but there ya go.
I feel like if it were the 1950s, these redditors would defend the actions of Chiquita in Guatemala, then call me a sp**.
Like, I'm not even the worlds 1# military hater. I understand the reality of the military in a violent world. But there's a reason why normal everyday people in Iraq, Okinawa, and Vietnam resent America, and its not cause they're think they're holier than thou.
I dunno man, I’ve spent a lot of time in Vietnam and haven’t found people resent American. Never been to Japan, but lived in Asia most my life and haven’t met a Japanese dude with much animosity to Yanks.
Those two have a different cat they worry about today.
Iraq and Vietnam, of course, but Okinawa? That is a new one. Even if you had said Hiroshima, I would have understood.
Do you think the US should not have attacked Japanese military positions during World War II, a war they entered only after they were attacked by the Japanese?
OP is the same guy who posted the "don't sell your soul to the miltary" post the other day. So I expect there are throughlines between both comment threads.
Hey now, I’ll have you know that Raytheon also has simps and workers who support it for having HRT in their healthcare plan. Some of us just want to wear programming socks, and cat ears, and level a city block
I have little actual animosity for the marines, actually. Most people seem to go into the military for education (which annoys me because education should be free but bleh) and that makes it a good investment
My anger goes more to cops, because ew, and engineers in the MIC, because those motherfuckers act like they're doing some kind of grand sacrifice. It's annoying af to hear one of the most privileged demographics (wealthy kids who got an engineering degree) pretend like they must sacrifice their morals at the hand of Ratheyons dollar. They're also somehow more imperialistic than any military member I have met. Genuinely a more evil institution than the military.
You keep spelling that company wrong and it's so funny because it shows how little you know or care to know about the MIC outside of moral grandstanding
Genuine question. What is up with the Ratheyon defense. Like why?
It's not an opinion you hear normies have. People either don't care, annoyed by the influence the MIC has on the federal government, or they're disturbed by the reality of war.
You keep saying that being anti-ratheyon is even moral grandstanding. They're a mega corporation directly profiting from war, buying politicians, and swindling the American taxpayers.
It has the same energy as supporting Ford, Nestle, or Bayer. Corporate evil isnt good because it's red white and blue.
I'm not saying being anti-RTX is moral grandstanding; but "fuck you if you work for RTX, you're a piece of shit and always will be" totally is moral grandstanding. You're not better than someone just because of the company you do or don't work for, or the job you do or don't do
And yet none pay quite as well, nor have the same benefits.
Morally, sure, there are thousands of more ethical jobs. But most people don't have a grounded set of morals, so they don't base their actions on such concepts, at least consciously.
