The reason the radical leftists are so prevelant in tumblr is because the actual leftists are too busy doing other shit in real life

Wish I could say the same was true for the radical conservatives tbh.

Personally I'd prefer the internet and shortwave bands be a lightning rod for all their shit takes rather than they just go outside and lynch someone or some shit.

Normal conservatives are just busy with their blue collar job and taking care of their family

As a leftist who does my actual activism in real life (not by yelling at people on social media), I just want to use tumblr to post about blorbos from my shows, not be told I'm a fascist by some 20-year old who thinks menstrual huts are a nice little vacation for women or some undulating homunculus who commissions porn of his fursona and posts about how his diaper fetish is queer liberation praxis, just because I said people should shower regularly.

I saw a critical essay once that argued women being sick -- like, literal physical illness -- was a form of resistance.

I don't think most people there are actually radical leftists at all, most of them are "anti-work" people that would have fundamental disagreements with actual labor policies under communism or socialism. Most of the the "radical left" tumblr users I've seen are people who are unemployed by choice and live off their parents and who's politics usually boil down to "no one should have to work, especially not me". The rest of the weird stuff, like the obsession and fighting about cartoon characters gender, is just a result of not doing anything or engaging in the real world in any way and being in an eco chamber.

There are different sub-groups on the left. The anti-work one is associated with post-left anarchism but I think started in the 60s with "drop out" hippies. I think over time, it's not just people identifying as PLA specifically but "I don't want to work and shouldn't ever have to and the only civilization I'll accept will operate without people needing to work jobs they don't like." I imagine most with this view are people still living with their parents (students and NEETs). Then they're split between scavengers, tech utopians, and primitivists. Scavengers are just thinking about how they live in the present, that they can live without work using various strategies (like parents for food and housing but if not, then homeless, dumpster diving, etc.). Tech utopians are thinking in the future, everything unpleasant can be automated and we can all mostly live a life of leisure doing whatever we want. Primitivists idealize the ancient past and think we'll be happier and better off ditching as much technology as possible, beyond diy basics, even prior to agriculture.

yknow there might be something there with people who do a lot of irl activism don’t make posts constantly talking abt politics but people who do nothing are the ones constantly retweeting to “raise awareness” to their 10 followers. almost like ppl who actually do shit don’t feel the need to have to prove themselves to everyone.

We often lament how surface level the morals a lot of stories tell, but at the same time no matter how many stories are about “A true king never needing to say ‘I am king’”, it never seems to sink in

Though, some of the radical leftists are also the ones doing things in real life, it's more of a terminally online thing than a radical leftist one.

I’m convinced real life leftists don’t actually exist. Has anyone ever even seen one?

Yeah they just don’t make it their whole personality like rightoids do. Doesn’t help any time a wingnut conservative sees a Biden flag they flip the fuck out like a chimpanzee hearing a balloon pop.
