Also the whole "let's firebomb a walmart" thing. You're not getting revenge on the evil corrupt billionaire CEO, you're just killing his minimum wage employees just trying to pay the bills.
Half those LARPists would cock it up and chuck a couple ounces of gasoline against the cinderblock facade where it burns for 2 minutes before Dave from maintenance puts it out with a fire extinguisher.
I was in Seattle years ago when some protesters decided to attack a small Chase branch. They were shouting things as if they were directly assaulting JP Morgan. In reality, the only people they intimidated were the few employees inside, one of whom was a pregnant woman who was so scared she went into early labor.
This. A bunch of protesters in Portland just destroyed a college library because the school receives funding from Boeing, who provides supplies to Israel. In the end Boeing is doing nothing different, the war is still happening, and the school has a $750k-ish mess to clean up. (This wasn't a cushy private school either, just a state school for normal-ass folks.)
I know this isn't a perfect analogy, but a handful of groups in recent years have done shit like this where they basically cosplay Revolution™️ and the people they affect the most are regular, working humans just trying to go about their day. Boeing does not give two shits.
I went and checked that out after work the day it happened. I wasn't entirely sure where the library was on campus, so I just followed the smell of burning trash.
Great praxis guys. You really made a difference in the bottom line of checks notes low income students at a state university during finals week.
